1 CIF- SS Softball Power Ranking & Divisional Information ) Based upon a two-year weighted power point total. 25% value for the 2017 season and 75% value for the 2018 season. 2) Strength of regular season schedule results and playoff performance results v. schools from within the Southern Section. Opponents from outside the Southern Section currently carry a power point value of zero. 3) Regular season games are weighted based upon the strength of opponent and the result against them. Power points are earned regardless of if the contest was won or lost. Example: a loss in a game v. a Division 1, tier 1 opponent would earn you 38 power points while a win in a game v. a Division 2, tier 2 opponent would earn you 44 power points. 4) Playoff games are awarded bonus points for each round you advance. 5) The breaks in each division were set based on the number of schools it takes to find on average 30 automatic playoff qualifiers. 6) Schools that do not report two years of data are not eligible for entry into the 2019 Softball playoffs. 7) Schools have from the date of the original release on January 18, 2019 until the start of the official season on February 9, 2019 to correct any errors made to the 2018 season schedule. After the start of the season no more adjustments will be made. Schools who fail to enter the required information prior to the start of the season will NOT BE ELIGIBLE for the playoffs regardless of how they finished in league play.
2 Point Formula Information: Regular season There are four levels of point totals for each division based on wins and losses by an individual softball team. There is a 12 point differential between a win and loss for each tier. Last season the win / loss differential was set at 10 points. Each round awards additional points based on the formula listed below. Each division has a win point total differential of 5 for each round.
