2 Firsts Match Report CCGS 45 vs Redlands 56 From the starting whistle it was a tight and high intensity game for goal. Halfway through the first quarter however, Redlands managed to get a run on and we finished the quarter down by 4 with the score Second quarter saw a massive burst of energy, intensity and skill with CCGS managing to turn over ball after ball with some tight defence and quick movement within the attacking circle. Going into half time on a high note with the score being with CCGS in the lead. The third quarter was once again demanding, constantly requiring high levels of fitness and the ability to instantly switch from attack to defence with relentless turn h both teams not lettingupanyturnoverswithitbeinggoaloversfrombothteams.threequartertime showed an even score line with it being The last quarter started slow and this effected CCGS as we d lost the flow that was present in the first three quarters and Redlands managed to grab the win with the final score Player of the match went to Emelia Corlett with her outstanding match fitness and impressive ability to constantly lose her opponents, whilst maintaining her outstanding feeding into the shooters. 3 Report from Round 1 30 th April CCGS 24 Oxley 2 Round one was an early one for the girls this week, with the team getting on the bus and leaving the school at an early 6 o clock in the morning. We finally arrived at Oxley College and got straight into the first game of the season. A number of injuries plagued the team before the game even started, and it showed, with the team not working as well together as usual, a bit rusty after not playing since last year. By the end of the quarter we were down The second quarter started, and suddenly we were beginning to understand one another, knowing the positions and finally working as a team. But to no avail, we went into the third quarter still down by 8 points (8 16). The third quarter opened with the spit fire Stella, her skilful intercepts and assertive playing style became an asset to the team, but we still couldn t quite catch up with Oxley who were pulling away, with the score ending at Fourth quarter began and us girls finally worked out how to play as a team, working as a single unit. After a number of great plays we began to catch up with Oxley, who couldn t catch a break. The fourth quarter ended too soon, and Oxley cam away with the win, but not without a fight. The end score of captured the struggle that the team went through from the first quarter till the end, proving that teamwork and cohesion with one another can be the key to success. Annelise Chown Report from Round 2 7 th May CCGS 30 Redlands 48 Our game against Redlands on the 7/5 left us with a loss of Our game was strong in the first half of the game allowing us to hold out ground, leaving us 1 point behind at half time. The 3rd quarter was our biggest let down. Our passes and decision making were not as good as they could have been, giving Redlands the advantage of blocks and intercepts happening more frequently. After a disappointing 3rd quarter, lead to another not so great last quarter, where again our passes and decision makings were not sufficient. Overall, we have lots to work on, particularly passing in pressurised situations and to be able to give a confident pass. Ashleigh Robson Page 3

4 Intermediate A Match Report CCGS 32 defeated Redlands 22 Our Intermediate A team had a fantastic win against Redlands this week with strong passing and some fantastic intercepts we were able to keep the ball moving down the court to our shooters who finished well. The defence worked well together with Jaz stunning the opposition with her relentless rebounds and intercepts. Tarlia worked hard all game to save the tempo of the game and Eliza did a great job in goal keeper. Congratulations to the whole team, a well deserved result. Margaret Alexander (Manager) Intermediate B Match Report CCGS 9 lost to BMGS 37 Our girls looked good as they warmed up and prepared to play under smoky conditions at Blue Mountains Grammar School. Again, we were off to a rocky start with lots of mistakes made which allowed our opponents to gain an advantage. By the last quarter our girls were working cohesively and putting into practice many of the drills we had been working on during out training sessions. Unfortunately the gap was too wide to bridge. Congratulations to Lauren Hunter who had a fantastic game! It was great to see her breaking for the ball and always sticking with her player. 5 Junior A Match Report CCGS 9 lost to Redlands 23 The Junior As had a hard fought game against the strong Redlands team on Saturday. The girls never gave up from the minute they started until the last minute, with solid defence and even bigger heart. Only our second game as a new team but the girls worked very well together bringing the ball as much as possible to our end of the court. Redlands proved to be the stronger team on this occasion but keep working hard at training and we can only get better. Best wishes to Charlee who was injured in the final minute. Susan Davison (Manager) Junior B Match Report CCGS 18 lost to BMGS 22 The Junior B's had another really close game this week. Blue Mountains took the lead in the first quarter by 2 points, but the girls all rallied really well in the 2nd to take the lead by 2. The third quarter ended in a draw, with Blue Mountains pulling ahead of us at the very end. The final score was 18/22 to BMGS. The girls all played really well, trying out some new positions and combinations. They are improving all the time, and looking forward to meeting BMGS next time on home ground.
