1 8th Annual MEMBERS NIGHT Friday, September 18, 2015 PROGRAM

2 Welcome Welcome to our Eighth Annual Members Night an exclusive look behind the scenes at the Academy! We ve had another fantastic year here at the Academy. In the museum, thousands of members, visitors, schoolchildren, and students came to see our special exhibits. They experienced the sweet aroma of chocolate in Chocolate: The Exhibition, stood next to a 48-foot-long snake model in Titanoboa: Monster Snake, and learned about the grosser side of the animal kingdom in Animal Grossology. We have a wonderful slate of exhibits coming up this year including two live animal exhibits, Reptiles: The Beautiful and the Deadly and Tarantulas: Alive and Up Close, which will be open this fall and winter. Then, roaring, moving dinosaurs will make their home again in our Special Exhibits Gallery for Dinosaurs Unearthed, back by popular demand! Our scientists have been working hard behind the scenes, and many have made exciting discoveries around the world. You can get a sneak peek at some of these discoveries tonight at Members Night. Our researchers, scientists, and educators have come up with some great activities that showcase the kind of work they do every day. Check out new fossil discoveries from the Devonian Period, use algae to make colorful rainbows, reassemble a cow skeleton, learn about owl pellets, and much more! Don t forget to cast your vote tonight for your favorite activity by putting the name of the activity and department on the ballot in the back of your program and dropping it in the box in our main lobby. Who will be this year s winner of the Members Choice Award? Cast your vote and find out! Thank you for your support of the Academy. I hope you have a wonderful night! All the best, George W. Gephart, Jr. President & CEO
