2 LANZ CABINETS ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT Lanz Cabinets is committed to conducting business in a fashion that safeguards the Earth, its employees, customers, and neighbors from environmental hazards. We are active members of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA). Our cabinets are ANSI/KCMA certified. Cabinets bearing the ANSI/KCMA certification have been extensively tested according to rigorous standards developed, and periodically revised, by a committee operating under rules set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and developed by the KCMA. The KMCA was founded in 1955 as a non-profit for residential cabinetmakers to aid in setting standards, sponsoring research and providing education and management tools. An environmentally-friendly company long before it was in vogue, Lanz decided to show its commitment by voluntarily becoming certified in the KCMA s Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP). To receive the KCMA ESP annual certification, we must show compliance in the five following areas: 1. Air Quality: All of our wood products comply with the applicable TSCA Title VI ATCM formaldehyde emission limits. Lanz certifies that 100% of finished products emit no greater HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants) than allowed by the National Emissions Standard for Wood Furniture Manufacturing Operations. 2. Product Resource Management: Our wood products have received chain-of-custody certification through a sustainable forestry program. We collaborate with our suppliers to identify and use sustainable, recyclable and renewable products. 3. Process Resource Management: Lanz has a comprehensive recycling program for the following products: cardboard, paper, plastic strapping, panel stock packaging, wood, solvents, and metal. Lean Manufacturing: We continually improve the efficiency of our process, systems and equipment. 4. Environmental Stewardship: We use the latest technology to reduce waste of materials, recycle, conserve energy, and limit both hazardous and non-hazardous emissions. 5. Community Relations: In the past year we donated to organizations offering advocacy for children and for building homes for seniors, families veterans and people with special needs across Oregon.

The door hinges and drawer runners attach directly to the inside walls of the cabinet box. Offering a sleeker look, frameless cabinets allow full access to the cabinet interior. 4 MATERIALS California Air Resources Board (CARB) Compliant Materials: The California Air Resources Board issued the most stringent requirements in the world on formaldehyde emissions. All cabinet manufacturers must use TSCA Title VI compliant materials in the production of the cabinets when shipped to California. Lanz Cabinets has gone beyond this requirement by ensuring that all of our cabinets, not just those going to California, meet or exceed the requirements set forth by CARB. No Added Formaldehyde (NAF) Cabinetry: If a customer wants to go beyond the requirements of TSCA Title VI they can specify NAF cabinets and we can accommodate their requirements. Lanz Cabinets offers to our customers the option of using NAF particleboard, MDF, or Plywood. Our standard UV Lacquer also contains no added formaldehyde. Composite Panel Association (CPA) Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP): Lanz Cabinets uses composite wood panels that carry the CPA EPP certification the most widely specified environmental certification program for composite wood products in North America, The rigorous requirements of the CPA EPP environmental certification program require: Use of 100% recycled or recovered wood fiber Formaldehyde emissions equal to or lower than TSCA Title VI levels Ongoing participation testing of formaldehyde emissions Monthly audits to verify recycled content, formaldehyde emissions, and adherence to QC procedures that meet ASTM protocol Quarterly submission of samples for large chamber testing by an accredited third party FINISHES Water Based Finishes: Back in 2007, Lanz switched from conventional solvent-based UV finishes to waterbased UV finishes. Presently, we are using AkzoNobel water-based Low HAP UV Top Coat Mid-Sheen finishes and stains with only traces of VOCs. This switch means that the majority of the finish used is water based, thus drastically reducing the amount of solvent needed. For cabinets processed through our hand finish line we use Sherwin-Williams SHER-WOOD conversion varnish. This finish has no measurable level of formaldehyde or Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), and extremely low levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). 42 CABINET CARE INFORMATION CARE OF YOUR CABINETS Immediately following installation Use clean, soft cloths when cleaning your cabinets. Clean all surfaces with a damp cloth, drying immediately with a dry cloth. Failure to dry your cabinet may result in finish damage and possibly damage the underlying wood. Furniture treatment To maintain the beauty of your wood cabinets, simply care for them as you would any fine furniture. Lanz Cabinets uses state-of-the-art Sherwin-Williams finishes which do not require wax. Should you decide to wax your cabinets, only use a wax that contains no cleaners. Apply the wax with a clean soft cloth and then buff with a clean dry cloth. Normal cleaning Wipe the cabinet surfaces with a clean, damp cloth and dry with a clean, dry cloth. Mild soap and water may be used to clean oil, grease, or other material from the surfaces. All soap residues should be rinsed from the surfaces using a clean damp cloth. Immediately dry with a clean dry cloth. Failure to dry your cabinet may result in finish damage and possible damage of the underlying wood. Scratches or nicks These may be hidden using a furniture touch up marker or polish on shallow scratches, or by using a color matching wood tone putty on deeper scratches or nicks. Buffing with a light coat of wax will aid in blending into the surrounding area. Thermofoil doors and laminate surfaces Thermofoil doors and cabinets with laminate surfaces are manufactured using materials that are designed for easy care. Years of service and beauty can be maintained by following these easy care suggestions: Light cleaning Clean all spills immediately using a clean soft cloth dampened with clean water then dry with a soft cloth immediately. Heavier cleaning Oils, grease and other soils that do not clean with water may be removed using a solution of mild soap and water. The surface should be rinsed immediately with a clean, damp cloth and dried thoroughly with a soft cloth. LOADING YOUR CABINETS Shelving When our cabinets are mounted by a Lanz Cabinet installer or mounted according to our instructions, each square foot of shelf will safely hold up to 25 pounds but not to exceed 450 pounds total weight per cabinet, when applied slowly, over five minutes. Drawers Drawers will safely hold up to 13 pounds per square foot when equally distributed. Hinge/Drawer Guide Maintenance As with any working part, our hinges or drawer guides may become loose over time and therefore should be checked periodically and tightened as necessary. THINGS TO AVOID Excessive Moisture Excessive moisture may have the most detrimental effect on any fine wood finish. Good furniture such as these cabinets cannot withstand constant washing or exposure to water. Avoid hanging dishtowels over doors or placing coffee makers where steam vents directly onto cabinet surfaces. Constant dampness next to dishwashers, sinks, and toe kick areas can cause finish damage and possibly damage the underlying wood if not dried as it occurs. Immediately dry off any areas where water has spilled. Keep all surfaces dry. Harsh Cleaning Agents Some cleaning agents, such as ammonia, can damage the finish of your cabinets. Avoid exposing your cabinets to these and other potential sources of ammonia-based cleaners, polishes, floor waxes. Do not wipe your cabinets with a dishcloth as it may contain soap, detergent, grease, or other household chemicals that may damage the cabinet finish. Avoid using detergents, strong soaps, or abrasive cleaners and pads, as they may be harmful to the finish. Wax While spray waxes may temporarily increase the sheen of your cabinets, they will certainly leave build-up, which eventually has to be removed and may damage the finish. (Seller) hereby agrees and warrants that all products manufactured and sold hereunder by Seller are free from defects in material and workmanship for a ONE- YEAR warranty period from the date of completion. All claims for defective goods must be submitted to Seller in writing and must specify the defects present in the product. After Seller has had an opportunity to inspect the product, Seller, at his sole discretion, will either replace or repair the product. This warranty is conditioned on the customer s proper treatment of the product after delivery and installation. All implied warranties are limited in duration to one year. Seller s sole responsibility with respect to the products under this warranty, any implied warranty or otherwise is as stated herein and Seller shall not be liable for consequential, indirect, or incidental damages. Some states do not allow limitations on how long implied warranty lasts, or limitations and exclusions may not apply to you.
