2 General Show Rules Deliver Entries to the Ag Building: Sunday, Sept. 1 TH 1 PM 6 PM Monday, Sept. 14 TH 9 AM 12 PM PLEASE ENTER GROUNDS THROUGH GATES 7 (PETTING ZOO) OR 9 (ELECTRIC PARK) ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY SEPTEMBER 1 ST. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED 1. Entries for competition must be made on official entry forms. Entry forms and tags available in booklet and will NOT be available at check in. Every person who makes an entry at the National Cattle Congress herewith exempts and discharges the National Cattle Congress, its agents, servants and employees from liability for any loss or damage or injury to himself or his property, weather caused by the National Cattle Congress, its agents, servants or employees or by other cause. 2. Each exhibitor will be responsible for any injury that may be occasioned to any person or to the property of any person by an animal or exhibit owned or exhibited by exhibitor, and shall indemnify the management against all claims for injury occasioned by any animal or exhibit owned or exhibited by him or arising from acts or negligence of any servant or employee of such exhibitor. 11. Additional entry tags may be copied or are available at the National Cattle Congress Main Office. 12. Unless otherwise noted, all classes are open to exhibitors of any age. THERE IS NO EARLY RELEASE DISPLAY MUST REMAIN EXHIBITED UNTIL SUNDAY. ENTRIES RELEASED AND PREMIUM PICK-UP: SUNDAY, SEPT. 20 TH FROM 6 PM 8 PM & MONDAY, SEPT. 21ST 9 AM NOON ALL ENTRIES MUST BE PICKED UP BY TUESDAY SEPT. 22 ND BY 4 PM OR THEY WILL BE DONATED. Box 298, Waterloo, IA The National Cattle Congress reserves the right to withhold premiums awarded in every case in which it shall appear to the management that the regulations have not been complied with or that fraud or deception has been practiced or attempted. 4. The management of the National Cattle Congress reserves the final and absolute right to interpret all rules and regulations in this premium list and will arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions, or differences in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of or in connection with the Fair. The right is reserved by the management to amend or add to these rules as the Board of Directors in its judgment may determine. 5. Entry tags are included in the envelope. 6. The Ag Building will be closed during Judging. 7. Unfinished, soiled, or worn articles may not be entered. 8. Items previously exhibited at National Cattle Congress are NOT eligible for re-entry. 9. It is the Judge s Discretion to award ribbons in each class. 10. Exhibitors will be issued a Sunday, Sept. 20 th National Cattle Congress Fair Pass (from 2 PM Close) at check in.
3 Department 1: NEW Section: Mayor s Cookie Jar $20 $15 $10 Ribbon Department Section: Needlecraft $5 $4 $ Ribbon / JAR THEME: SHEAR ENJOYMENT 1. Entries must be in a ½ gallon CLEAR jar (plastic or glass) 2. Decorate jar lid as per the designated THEME. Decoration of the lid cannot be over 1/ the size of the jar.. Jar MUST contain a minimum of 5 varieties of cookies. 4. Entrants must bring a sample of each cookie in a separate container for the judge to taste, as the entry jar will not be opened. 1. Crewel Embroidery or Needlepoint NOTE: All Wall Hangings must have sturdy hooks on back for hanging! The Winning Jar will be awarded to one of the Mayors of either Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Evansdale on a rotating basis each year. Pumpkin must be delivered and displayed until Sunday, September 20 TH, 2015 at 6 PM NOTE: The National Cattle Congress will use customary care in handling entries, but will in no case be responsible for loss or damage
7 Department 17: Section: Scarecrow Sponsored by: Cedar Valley Woodworkers $20 $15 $10 Ribbon Rules 1. MUST BE HOMEMADE!!! 2. Scarecrows must be able to stand alone.. Environmental Friendly materials are REQUIRED. 4. ALL scarecrow themes must be G rated (family oriented) 5. Height of scarecrows is limited to 5 feet tall. Department 19: Section: Wood Crafting Display DISPLAY ONLY This is not a judged event Items are to be delivered to the Ag. Building This is ONLY a woodworking display of fine woods that is going to demonstrate and show to the public the crafting skills here in the Cedar Valley Area. There will be a display of exotic wood varieties as well as common woods. Exhibitors will also include a selection of joints commonly used in woodworking. Department 18: Section: Model Cars Rules: 1. Items DISPLAYED: MUST be made by the exhibitor using mostly wood with the exceptions of: knobs, latches, hinges, fasteners, clock works, wheels, and etcetera, which are necessary parts of the items. $7 $6 $5 Ribbon Best In Show Receives: $25 Gift Card Compliments: Hobby Town 1 2 Car - Truck Space Military *Person entering model must be the SOLE person to create model. Display Categories: 1. Furniture (an item considered household, office, shop or garage furniture, including: desk, bookcase, cabinet, display case, etc.) 2. Toys (items that a child would play with including: doll house, barn, child chair, rocking horse, doll cradle, wagon, tractor, boat, pull toys, etc. and are limited to x x in size.). Carving (any carved wood item such as a duck, fish, animal, characters, busts, etc.) 4. Turning (items including: bowls, candlesticks, platter, pen/pencil, vase, etc.) 5. Intarsia (decorative or pictorial inlay work involving a mosaic of wood pieces.) 6. Scroll Work Majority of the item is made using a scroll saw

Each entry must be the work of the entrant and must have been completed within the last year. 2. Entry size must NOT exceed 54 in any one direction (framed). All entries must be ready to hang. 4. Entries will be judged in part based on composition, value, color, variety, unity, technique and originality. 5. Youth is 19 years or younger as of Jan.1, : Paintings (Oil, Acrylic) Adult or Youth 2: Drawings (Prints, Pastels, Watercolors) Adult or Youth NOTE: The National Cattle Congress will use customary care in handling entries, but will in no case be responsible for loss or damage Adult $0 $20 $10 Ribbon Youth $20 $10 $5 Ribbon $5 PER / 5 PICTURES CONTEST RULES Eligibility: 1. Contest is open to all amateur photographers. 2. Each entry must be the original work of the entrant.. In case of montages, all work must have been captured and assembled by the entrant. 4. All photos must have been shot or completed within the last two years. 5. A subject may only be used once by the same photographer. (the same person or object cannot be in multiple pictures by the same entrant) 6. The same image may only be used once. 7. Items previously exhibited at National Cattle Congress are not eligible. Entry Requirements: 1. All entries must be no smaller than 5 x 7 and no larger than 8 x All entries must be mounted on foam core that is at least 1/8 thick. Judges will not judge your mat. Your mat should not compete with your photo. A mat is optional and cannot exceed the foam core. 4. Photographers name, date of photo, or any other identifying marks should not be on your photo 5. All entries should be unframed. Your picture will not be displayed or judged if it has a frame. 6. NO HOOKS, WIRES, GLASS, CELLOPHANE, DOUBLE STICK TAPE, or anything that could damage another person s work will be allowed. Adult - 19 years & older 1. PEOPLE 2. NATURE. ANIMALS 4. NOTE: The National Cattle Congress will use customary care in handling entries, but will in no case be responsible for loss or damage.
