The company s focus is on safe, sustainable and environmental conscious exploitation of oil and gas. DEA has 119 years of experience working along the whole upstream value chain as operator and project partner. DEA, with a staff force of about 1,200 employees has shares in production facilities and concessions in, among others, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Egypt, Algeria and Mexico. 3

6 DEA s core regions DEA s core regions DEA is a fully integrated E&P company. The focus is on regions in which DEA s competence can best be utilised. The company s international upstream activities concentrate mainly on Europe, North Africa and Latin America. Mittelplate. The company s gas production from its fields in Lower Saxony is about 54 billion cubic feet a year. 44 years of activities in Egypt In Egypt, DEA is active since During the last three decades, the company has produced over 650 million barrels of crude oil in the Gulf of Suez. In 2013, DEA started production from the Disouq gas development project in the onshore Nile Delta. DEA is partner in the West Nile Delta project, in which production from two out of a total of five fields commenced in March 2017, Taurus and Libra. DEA makes a significant contribution towards securing its home country s energy supplies by means of sustainably high domestic production levels, with a regional focus on Schleswig- Holstein for crude oil and Lower Saxony for natural gas production. 7 DEA s core regions Production start from gas fields in Algeria DEA is partner in the Reggane Nord Project in the Algerian Sahara, which comprises six gas fields under development. The production phase of the project is expected to span more than 25 years. DEA in Norway: Strong production portfolio and promising development opportunities DEA Norge has a solid and promising licence portfolio with assets in all major phases in every region of the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). DEA is operator of the offshore gas development project Dvalin, that is planned to start production in The company has ownership interests in several producing fields, such as Gjøa, Snorre, Snøhvit, Knarr, Skarv, Njord and Hyme. DEA also participated in some of the most important recent discoveries on the NCS, like Alta, Snadd, Bauge or Skarfjell. In Norway, DEA has been present for more than 40 years now. Oil production in the Danish North Sea DEA is active in Denmark since 1995 and has been producing oil in the Njord platform in the Norwegian Sea Danish North Sea as a partner since The company has a share in the offshore fields Cecilie and Nini in the North Sea. In April 2016, DEA received two licences as operator in the western part of the Danish North Sea. Mexico: A new core country In 2017, DEA had a successful market entry in Mexico, with the award of three offshore licences as operator in Bid Round 3.1 and of one licence as partner in Round 2.1. Furthermore, DEA is now operator of the producing oil field Ogarrio. 7

8 Technology Technology Crude oil and natural gas are stored in the pores of deep-lying geological stratums. To track down reservoirs, our geologists investigate the rock like detectives. Various processes are employed for this. When producing the oil and gas, we also rely on modern technology to bring the raw materials safely to the surface. Geological Research Our geologists establish the properties of rock types and characterise the conditions under which they are created. At a specially selected site, our experts study rock formations that are millions of years old. They can read the outcrops towering above their heads like books, and use this information to draw their conclusions about analogue formations underground where large quantities of oil and gas may well have been formed. Microfossils help us to determine the age of rocks Extended Reach Drilling The rig in one place, the reservoir many kilometres away: wells often need to be drilled over huge distances to reach oil and gas deposits. In 2002, DEA drilled one of the longest wells worldwide: almost 10 kilometres. Today, DEA s specialists work on the realisation of wells with lengths of more than 15 kilometres. 9 Technology the main well. In this way, we can reach several target reservoirs via a single well, increase its economic viability and speed up a field s development. This technique involves drilling a branch well from an existing main well, which may be either highly deviated or horizontal. Depending on the kind of reservoir we have, several branch wells may be drilled from Geosteering By positioning wells over distances of up to 1,000 metres horizontally in two-to-three-metre-thick sandstone layers, DEA plays in the Champions League of geosteering. Geosteering enables us to adjust the planned wellpath while drilling, to place the well into the optimum position within the reservoir. All decisions for the adjustment are based on realtime formation evaluation data. A combination of tools delivers the required information for geosteering 9

11 Project Info Dvalin Project Info Dvalin The Dvalin gas field, previously known as Zidane, discovered in 2010, is DEA s first own operated field development project in Norway. The redesigned development concept aims for sustainable profitability, while applying the highest safety and environmental protection measures. DEA plans to produce around 18.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas from two reservoirs in the field. Development costs have been estimated at 1.1 billion. Production is scheduled to begin in 2020 according to the plan. The field is located in Production Licence (PL) 435, approximately 15 kilometres northwest of the Heidrun field and 35 kilometres south of the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea. The licence was awarded in the Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) Subsea Development Dvalin is being developed with the help of an subsea production system on the seabed and involves four production wells. This system is connected to the Heidrun platform, where some of the gas will be processed in a newly installed module before being transported to the Polarled Pipeline via a new export pipeline, and from there on to the Nyhamna onshore gas terminal. The gas will be refined at Nyhamna, then fed into the European market. 11

12 Insight Mexico Insight Mexico Deutsche Erdoel Mexico is the subsidiary of DEA in the Latin American country. In 2015, after Mexico s energy market opening, DEA conducted an in-depth analysis of the country s E&P sector, to generate a thorough understanding and knowledge about it. Since then, the company s experts are evaluating accurate all offered opportunities, to build an E&P portfolio in Mexico. Mexico plays an important role in our global growth strategy. We recently entered the Mexican market and are one of the first international operator of oil production in the country says Maria Moraeus Hanssen, CEO of Deutsche Erdoel AG. Mexico is a new strategic country for DEA. Started with a small team, the company has build-up an operational organization, with offices in Mexico City and in Villahermosa. In October 2017, DEA acquired a 50 percent licence share and operatorship of the onshore oil field Ogarrio. I am very proud of our teams in Mexico and Germany that have demonstrated the operational expertise, competence and agility to manage the complex and comprehensive process towards the takeover of the operatorship right after our country entry and from scratch, Maria Moraeus Hanssen adds. Furthermore, the company is growing its exploration portfolio in the Gulf of Mexico, with three blocks as operator, awarded in Licensing Round 3.1 and one block awarded in round 2.1 as partner of PEMEX. 12

13 Insight Mexico For DEA, these achievements mark meaningful steps in this country where the oil and gas sector plays a major role for the domestic economy. Mexico is the 10th largest oil producer in the world and has one of the largest proven reserve bases globally. DEA sees many future opportunities in the Mexican upstream market, that valuable fit the company s strategy, considering its expertise in sustainable oil and gas production and technical solutions. Therefore, DEA will further evaluate all market opportunities very closely. 13
