History Type Specimen This is a Type Specimen for Avenir which brings to life and celebrates the typeface. This project allowed me to appreciate typography further and understand the form and function of visual language. Adrian Frutiger was the Type designer of Avenir. He gained an apprenticeship at a print house in Interlaken. He lived in Paris most of his professional life passing away in 2015 at the age of 87. He is most known for His three big Typefaces Univers, Frutiger and Avenir. Univers is used on London street signs which are recognised all over the world. Frutiger sans serif font is used by the Dutch railway system and road signs in Switzerland. Finally, Avenir is used by the likes of snapchat but also the popular I am Amsterdam sign. He received 15 awards and prizes from for his type faces. He also founded the Adrian et Simone Frutiger to fund money into mental health support. 3 Image Zine For the Image Project we created a zine in groups of 3, combining our work using narrative, colour and pace within the zine. Looking at the topic of Hope. I designed the hands showing Hope within nature and new life. These smaller images are a collection of the work from other students that created other parts of the zine. We used natural colours to push for a consistency to our work and convey Hope within imagery. We carefully placed the images in an order for a narrative of discovering Hope. The colours used gradually progresses from start to finish from grayscale to bright yellows and reds. 3 4

The logo and flag are included in the passport design so to connect the piece to the rest of the cities documentation and graphic works. Collaboration Work This was the second field project allowing me to collaborate with Students from Illustration and Graphics. We created a city called Greenstone which was all about being a more sustainable city and encouraging less driving and more recycling. Below is the animation which includes all of the groups work from the whole 3 weeks to show a narrative of a character who becomes more green with her lifestyle. The progression in the city is shown within the city using different backgrounds and different modes of transport. I edited the animation in our group because we did not have any animators and so i was the most comfortable using Adobe After Effects. Below is the character that i created for our city. 5 Design as Activism My Group chose the topic of Gun Suicide Awareness for America. This is a problem i felt could be best addressed through an animated infographic for the generation of people that watch and listen to everything on social media. The top image is of the animation which i created for the group work on an actovism. As a group we chose to base it on gun suicide awareness in America as this is an issue that is not spoke about enough. We made a collection of graphic works that could support this movement using poster design, leaflets and infographics. I chose to create an infographic animation becasue i felt that this would connect with the audience on a better level because everyone views their news and information online and connects better with interactive visuals rather than printed still images. However as a group we decided to do both because people of the older generations would still be able to view this work through posters as this is their media. 7 8

This project was the first chance of doing editorial work on the course and a real test of my knowledge thus far of how to use layouts and grid systems

I looked at focusing on the impact this had on their families rather than the impact they had on the corrupt system they tried to exploit. This project was the first chance of doing editorial work on the course and a real test of my knowledge thus far of how to use layouts and grid systems within our work. I spray mounted the pages back to back and ensured crop marks and bleed were applied in order to cut the pages correctly. I chose to pick an article that was about an issue we all face in climate change but scew the attention off of the activists and onto the families that those events impacted and take a closer look at whether the activists benifitted aty all and how much they were willing to sacrifice to try and help save the planet. 9 10

It may be a biased claim but there are many reasons and studies that have been backed up to prove my movement. A movement highlighting the difference in wholebean coffee compared to instant coffee and the fight for more people to throw away instant and only drink the good stuff. The video shows the process which goes into making the coffee but also the reaction at the end which gives it humour and laughter but hopefully engages the audience to think about how their next cup of coffee is made. A lot of people don t know the difference in coffee and i want to bring peoples attention to this using a humerous and simple message within the video

The open/close project allowed me to improve and show my skills that i have learned throughout this year using type, layout, grid systems and colour.

Each page shows a different style of type that often sits behind the main story. This highlights the theme but also the information on that double page spread.

Using Text to express the book in a more graphical mannor. The open/close project allowed me to improve and show my skills that i have learned throughout this year using type, layout, grid systems and colour. A collection of all of the years work and learning in one piece which shows the improvement within my work compared to before this year of university. Each page shows a different style of type that often sits behind the main story. This highlights the theme but also the information on that double page spread. This also represents the risk taking theme but also of how sporadic Robinson Crusoe s emotions are and the range that this brings. Using Type Expression to convey the fight scene with the bear in the last chapter. I felt it was important to show the reader perspective representing the trees but also allow to still be easily read and with heiracrhy in mind
