2 JOINTSAVER Permanent Joint Filler Permanent joint filler system System benefits Compressed strip always remains in contact with the sides of the joint gap. Provides steel armored protection to the joint gap arrises. Easy and fast installation, immediately trafficable. Excellent resistance to Oils, Petrol, Solvent, Acids, and U.V. light. Fire retarding. Manufactured from recyclable materials. An innovative range of products, which instantly replaces traditional joint fillers used in concrete floor and slab joint gaps. Unlike conventional resin joint fillers which usually shrink on curing and begin to tear away from the joint sides after application, JOINTSAVER is under compression when fitted so it pushes rather than pulls at the side of the joint gap. This means that it is always in contact with the joint sides as the gap grows and shrinks. JOINTSAVER comes in several types and sizes, and can be used for joint gaps from 10 mm up to 40 mm wide. Suitable for applications, such as cold stores, seismic joints, concrete arris repairs, intumescent and waterproofing barriers.

4 About JOINTSAVER 1. Product Properties JOINTSAVER works by continually pushing against the sides of the joint, therefore as the gap widens the compressed JOINTSAVER will expand to remain in contact with the sides. All types of joint gaps up to 40 mm wide can be accommodated, whether they be formed concrete slabs, formed steel armoured joints, internal or external joints, and also architecturally decorative joints. JOINTSAVER side plates are manufactured from high grade 304 stainless steel, or in the case of the JOINTSAVER Gripper version they are manufactured from UltraSTEEL. Joint Saver is suitable for most applications, in either lipped standard form or non-lipped Gripper version. The joint can be instantly trafficked by foot, pallet trucks, and fork trucks. No time lost waiting for conventional fillers to cure, or having to close off areas for hours and hours, disruption to normal use is kept to an absolute minimum. The standard JOINTSAVER products come in several sizes and are suitable for joint gaps from 10 mm up to 40 mm wide. 4 JOINTSAVER

5 About JOINTSAVER The JOINTSAVER range consists of 3 types of products, the JOINTSAVER Standard, the JOINTSAVER Extra Wide, and the JOINTSAVER Gripper. JOINTSAVER Standard. Suitable for joint gaps from 10 mm up to 24 mm wide, ideal for use on good quality internal floor joints, can be used externally but not suited to rounded edge joint arris s. This product is suitable for foot traffic, as well as pallet trucks and hard wheeled fork lift trucks. The side plates have a 7 mm wide top lip and are manufactured from high strength 304 stainless steel. JOINTSAVER Extra Wide. Suitable for joint gaps from 22 mm up to 41 mm wide, can be used in the same applications as the Joint Saver Standard, particularly favoured for use on high traffic pedestrian walkways in Airports and Shopping Malls. The product has a pleasing aesthetical appearance, with its 3 parallel metal strips, and it will accept small wheeled traffic such as suitcases and shopping trolleys. The side plates have a 7 mm wide top lip and are manufactured from high strength 304 stainless steel. The centre T-shape profile is manufactured from aluminium. JOINTSAVER Gripper. Can be used on joint gaps from 10 mm up to 41 mm wide. Ideally suited for joints where steel armouring of the arris is present, or the arris s edges are rounded (Bull nosed), also suitable for areas where traversing loads might be dragged across the joint, including doorways, at the top of ramps. This product can be driven below the floor surface to better cope with compressible pneumatic tyred traffic. The side plates are manufactured from corrosion resistant UltraSTEEL, and are designed to be driven into the joint to the required depth, and held in position with a suitable adhesive. Please note the lips on the JOINTSAVER can be damaged if pallets are dragged across them without lifting, if this is likely to happen, or if the forks are likely to ground out e.g. in doorways or at the top of a ramp, please use JOINTSAV- ER Gripper, this product has no lips to sustain damage. 8 Installation of JOINTSAVER Installing JOINTSAVER Standard and Extra wide: 1. Cut away and remove the old joint filler with a suitably sharp and sturdy knife, taking care to wear protective apparel. 2. Ensure that any objects in the joint such as redundant fixings, location pins, bolts, etc. have been removed to a sufficient depth, to permit the JOINTSAVER to be installed usually best done using a hand grinder with a metal cutting disc fitted, ensure suitable protective apparel is worn. 3. Clean away debris and detritus from the area where the JOINTSAVER is going to be installed, be sure to remove the old filler completely, remembering to dispose of the old filler carefully, as it is usually toxic. 4. If the joint top edges or arris are in good condition, the JOINTSAVER can be installed directly. Press the leading edge of the JOINTSAVER together until it slots into the joint gap, apply adhesive under both lips, and then simply push it down into position. 5. If the top edge or arris of the joint is spalled or damaged, apply a repair mortar or resin under the lips of the JOINTSAVER before pushing it down into position, this can then be scraped level to effect a perfect repair. 6. Finally, tap the JOINTSAVER down into position using a rubber mallet and block of wood to avoid damage, remove away excess adhesive as shown, forming a slight ramp at the edge of the strip to assist joint transition. Remove all existing joint fi ller from the joint. Ensure edges of joint are clean and free of debris. Use a repair mortar or resin if joint edges are damaged. Tap down in to place with a rubber hammer and block.

9 Installation of JOINTSAVER Remove any residue to ensure a clean edge. Repeat process for next length of JOINTSAVER. Installing JOINTSAVER Gripper: 1. Cut away and remove the old joint filler with a suitably sharp and sturdy knife, taking care to wear protective apparel. 2. Ensure that any objects in the joint such as redundant fixings, location pins, bolts, etc. have been removed to a sufficient depth, to permit the JOINTSAVER Gripper to be installed usually best done using a hand grinder with a metal cutting disc fitted, ensure suitable protective apparel is worn. 3. Clean away debris and detritus from the area where the JOINTSAVER Gripper is going to be installed, being sure to remove the old filler completely. Remember to dispose of the old filler carefully as it is usually toxic. 4. Apply adhesive by gun along the top edges (arris s) of the join gap, and to the side of the JOINTSAVER Gripper at the same time, use a good amount. 5. Insert the JOINTSAVER Gripper and tap down to floor level with an oversize block of wood, to avoid damaging the UltraSTEEL sides. 6. If the JOINTSAVER Gripper is being used on a joint with rounded edge slabs, simply use a suitably sized piece of timber to drive the strip further down into the joint gap to the desired level. Remove all existing joint fi ller from the joint. Apply adhesive along the joint gap.

10 Installation of JOINTSAVER Tap down with wooden block and rubber hammer. If joint arris is rounded, tap down further to desired level.
