3 write away installation EXAMINE MATERIAL Material should be carefully inspected BEFORE CUTTING to confirm the correct pattern and quantity ordered has been shipped. If there are different lot numbers, organize for installation with the same lot numbers together. Number the rolls for installing in sequence. SURFACE PREPARATION Proper surface preparation is critical for a high-quality wallcovering installation. Any imperfections in the wall to be covered may read through to the surface of the installed material. Surface must be clean, smooth, dry, structurally sound and uniform in color. Any existing imperfections in the wall surface, such as cracks, taped joints, dents or nail heads, should be sealed and sanded smooth. Ballpoint ink, grease, crayon or any other foreign matter should be cleaned or removed. Wall surfaces should not exceed 5% moisture content as measured by a moisture meter. Apply product when the relative humidity in the installation area does not exceed 40% and the temperature is above 55 degrees F. Those conditions should be maintained in the areas of both storage and installation for three days prior to and after the installation. If there are any questions concerning the surface to be covered, a test installation of at least one strip applied three days in advance of the main installation is recommended. Use only a lead pencil for marking the wallcovering on the reverse side of the dry erase surface. Apply a coat of Roman s PRO-935/R-35 Primer over the wall surface as an adhesion-promoting primer. This is a critical step to ensure a good bond to the wall surface. APPLICATION Use Roman s PRO-732 Extra Strength Clay Wallcovering Adhesive (do not dilute with water) with a 3/8" nap roller. Apply a smooth and even coat to the wall within the area to be covered. Re-paste if there is a delay in hanging and adhesive is drying out. We suggest hanging the dry erase wallcovering horizontally to eliminate seams in the writing area. Overlapping and double cutting will produce the best seaming results. For full wall applications, it is recommended a full-width first strip be centered on the wall in the most likely writing area. A plumb or level line must be established for an acceptable installation. Take the wallcovering to the wall. Do not crease the wallcovering when handling. Keep the material free of any dirt or abrasiveness that may damage or scratch it. It is critical that any foreign particles on the back of the wallcovering be removed before installation. Remove air pockets or paste lumps, working toward the uncovered wall. Use a wallcovering smoothing tool wrapped in a clean, soft cloth to ensure protection of the writing surface. The writing surface can be damaged by tools with hard, sharp or abrasive edges. If the surface is scratched, marker residue may accumulate in that opening and leave a permanent mark. Work the wallcovering from the middle to the outside edge. Take care not to overwork the surface to avoid paste lumping. When cutting seams, use the proper cutting tool to avoid scoring the wall. Carefully roll or press the seams down, being careful not to overwork the seam. Change blades often to ensure clean cuts. If any frayed threads are present at the seams, cut them with a clean, sharp razor blade. Do not pull threads to remove them. Vertical seams should not occur less than 6 inches from any outside or inside comer. After hanging one horizontal strip of dry erase material, examine the installed wallcovering for color uniformity and overall appearance. Any problems with the installation should be communicated to your distributor BEFORE proceeding with the installation. CLEAN UP Remove all excess adhesive immediately using a clean, soft sponge and clean water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or dirty water. Change water often to keep it clean. Dry with a clean, soft towel. BEFORE WRITING ON DRY ERASE SURFACE Before initial use of the writing surface, the material must be cleaned with Expo Cleaner and a soft cloth, then towel dried. Follow with clean water and a soft cloth. Use another clean towel to dry. MARKERS We recommend the use of Expo Bold Color markers.

4 write away installation DAILY CLEANING Microfiber cloths are recommended as erasers to remove the dry erase markings. Change or clean the cloths often as they become soiled to avoid leaving excessive marker residue on the surface. Microfiber cloths can be washed. For cleaning marker residue build-up, use Expo brand dry erase cleaning solution and a soft towel. Projection Capable items have a matte/low-glare dry erase surface that requires more frequent cleaning than other dry erase material. No markings will be permanent, but it may be necessary to use Expo Cleaner to bring these Projection Capable products back to like new condition. LONG TERM CARE Clean the entire surface on a regular basis to ensure the ultimate performance and appearance of the product over the long term. Do not use abrasive cleaners/cleaning tools, erasers with hard plastic edges/housing or pointed writing instruments on the dry erase surface. INSTALLATION OVER CHALKBOARDS & WHITEBOARDS *Please note applying this product over these substrates can be very challenging and we highly recommend an installer who is experienced with this installation method. EXAMINATION Carefully inspect the material BEFORE CUTTING to confirm the product and quantity ordered. Organize multiple lots for installation with same lot numbers together. Number the rolls for installing in sequence. Drops should be cut 2" wider and longer than the existing board to allow for overhang at all edges. SURFACE PREPARATION Clean the surface with denatured alcohol prior to application of adhesive. All dents and imperfections must be repaired and sanded smooth. Auto Body Filler or Vinyl Spackle can be used to fill any seams, gouges or dents. Any imperfections will show through to the surface of the dry erase material. Use enamel spray paint similar in color to the existing surface to cover any patches or imperfections. Apply a smooth and even coat of Roman PRO-935 Wallcovering Primer over the clean surface to be covered with wallcovering. Use a ¼" nap roller. APPLICATION Apply an even coat of undiluted Roman PRO-732 Heavy Duty Clay Wallcovering adhesive to the back of the wallcovering using a ¼" nap roller. A smooth, light coat evenly applied across the entire surface will yield best results on the final dry erase wallcovering appearance. Do not glob adhesive, as adhesive lumps on the backside of the wallcovering will read through to the surface. Allow 5 to 10 minutes booking/set time before taking the material to the surface. Do not overwork the material with the cloth-wrapped smoother, as it can result in adhesive lumps/ridges that will show through. Do not crease the material when handling. Use a flexible wallcovering smoother wrapped in a clean, soft cloth. Any sharp or abrasive tool can damage the writing surface. Keep the writing-side surface free of any dirt, grit or abrasive materials. The writing surface can be scratched if proper care is not taken. After the drop is positioned over the existing chalkboard or whiteboard, use the smoother to ensure consistent contact between the dry erase wallcovering and the adhesive applied to the board surface and to remove air pockets, working the wallcovering from the middle to the outside edges. It is critical that any foreign particles on the back of the wallcovering or on the existing writing surface be removed before final installation. Grit/dirt will read through to the finished surface. Do not overwork the wallcovering with the smoothing tool, as this can cause adhesive buildup in certain areas. Adhesive buildup will telegraph through, causing an uneven appearance. If any problems are experienced, STOP and call your distributor. If covering an existing chalkboard or whiteboard with a seam or joint, install over the seam/joint, then cover the seam/joint area using the trim piece. After the material is properly smoothed and adhered to the existing writing surface, use a new blade to trim excess material from the entire perimeter, being careful to maintain a snug fit to the existing trim or tray. Allow adhesive to dry before using the dry erase surface for dry erase writing. This could take from 48 to 72 hours. CLEAN UP Be sure to remove all excess adhesive immediately using a soft sponge and clean water. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or dirty water. Clean the writing area before using the dry erase wallcovering. Use Expo cleaner and a clean towel, followed by cleaning with a water-dampened, clean, soft cloth/towel. Use another clean towel to dry.

5 {Z} write away accessories installation ALUMINUM SNAP-ON TRIM INSTALLATION The installer must supply the following: #10 x 1½-inch truss head sheet metal screws one screw is required for each clip, which are installed 16 inches on center. 1) Be certain that the dry erase wallcovering is cut square in the area being covered. The edges of the dry erase wallcovering will be used as guides for the trim installation. 2) The two vertical, or side pieces, are installed first. These trim pieces will be cut to be flush with the top and bottom edges of the dry erase wallcovering OR the cut edges of the trim can also be mitered to 45-degree angles if desired. After taking measurements, cut the aluminum trim piece(s) with an appropriate metal blade to ensure a clean cut. File or sand edges of all cuts as necessary to remove any loose metal after cutting. 3) Install the metal clips after cutting the vertical trim pieces to length, confirming the measurements are correct and the vertical line is level. Install the clips 1/16-inch outside the edge of the dry erase material. They should be installed every 16 inches on center, making good contact with the wall studs. Use #10 X 1½-inch screws. If the screws do not make contact with the studs, use plastic wall anchors. The angled/flat beveled side of the clips should always be facing the ceiling and the rounded edge should face the floor on horizontal trim pieces. On vertical trim pieces, the angled/flat beveled side should face the outside walls and the rounded side should face the material being framed. 4) Install the trim pieces over the clips. Place and hook the trim over the angled side of the clips. Then, apply pressure with the heel of the hand to the side that is not locked in, snapping the trim into a locked position. 5) If two pieces are to be spliced together, mount a clip on the wall at the splice location so that the end of each piece will snap into it. 6) Next, the horizontal trim piece(s) will be applied to fit cleanly between the two vertical side pieces, which have already been installed. 7) If a Marker Tray is to be installed, it should be the last step in the installation process. The Tray should be installed along the bottom edge of the dry erase. Just like the top trim piece, the Marker Tray should fit cleanly between the two side trim pieces and run along the bottom edge of the dry erase wallcovering. To guarantee the proper support for the Tray, you must locate and mark the wall support studs where the Tray will be attached to the wall. Once a level line has been established, using the bottom edge of the dry erase wallcovering as a guide, use the provided self-tapping screws, going through the back rail of the Tray into the wall studs for proper support. Screws should be applied through both the top and bottom back rails. STOP IF ANY PROBLEMS ARE ENCOUNTERED AT ANY POINT DURING INSTALLATION. CONTACT YOUR DISTRIBUTOR IMMEDIATELY. ALUMINUM CORK TRIM INSTALLATION Each Cork Trim section will include 2 endcaps with one self-drilling attachment screw for each. Self-drill screws for attachment of trim piece and endcaps. 1) Cut Cork Trim piece to size, if necessary. Use a miter saw with a fine blade designed to cut metal. 2) Carefully remove the cork insert from the trim piece. 3) Determine level line for proper installation. 4) Mount the aluminum trim piece to the wall using #10 Phillips Flat Head 1 inch self-drilling screws, being careful to maintain alignment to the level line. Do not insert screws at the extreme left and right ends of the installation, as they could interfere with endcaps. 5) Carefully place the cork insert back into the aluminum trim piece. 6) Place an endcap on each end of the installation, then screw into place. Do not over tighten, as the endcap could be damaged. The screw-head will be exposed.

6 {Z} write away accessories installation ALUMINUM MARKER BOX TRAY INSTALLATION Installation of Aluminum Marker Box Tray with mounting clips and endcaps 1) Make certain all parts are of first quality and of proper quantity. Source One supplies: marker tray and steel mounting clips. The installer must supply: #10 x 1½-inch truss head sheet metal screws and 1/8-inch diameter x 3/8-inch grip aluminum pop rivets. Concrete or block walls require masonry anchors and screws. Each mounting clip is secured by one screw or anchor and are installed 16 inches on center. Splice brackets for use where pieces are joined together can be made using a piece of 1¾-inch x 4-inch piece of aluminum or steel. 2) Mark the required length of tray. If the application requires endcaps, deduct the exposed portion of them from the overall length of the tray. All cuts should be made with a miter saw using a fine tooth carbide-tipped blade. 3) Secure endcaps to the ends of the marker tray using a bead of construction adhesive. Be careful not to allow excess adhesive to cure on the exposed portion of the marker tray. 4) Create a level chalk line on the wall at a location 3/32-inches below the finished height of the installation. The top of the mounting clips (flat, beveled side) should be aligned to the chalk line. Use a screw or anchor to secure the clip to the wall. Screw or anchor into the wall studs at 16 inches on center. If studs cannot be located, use toggle bolts or other hardware designed for such a purpose. Clips should be placed 4 inches in from the outside edges to allow for endcaps. 5) Snap tray cover over the clips that have been installed to the wall. Do so by hooking the top back edge over the tops of the clips. Downward pressure should be applied to lock the tray in place. 6) A clean, right angle cut is required where pieces are joined/spliced in order to achieve a good appearance. A mounting clip should be applied at the exact area of each splice with half of the clip lining up under each piece of tray. Splice brackets should be mounted inside the tray across the seam/joint. Clamp the splice bracket inside one of the pieces of tray, about halfway between the face and bottom edge. One inch in on the tray and about halfway between the face side and the bottom, drill a 1/8-inch hole. Make certain the hole is drilled through both tray and bracket. A 1/8-inch aluminum pop rivet should be inserted and secured/grip tight. Attach the second piece of tray in the same manner. Make sure both pieces fit tightly and cleanly together. ALUMINUM J-CAP TRIM INSTALLATION 1) Examine trim to assure quantity and quality is as ordered. The installer must supply the adhesive and/or double-backed tape to adhere and also drywall compound. The adhesive to be used should be craft-type contact cement or a 1/2-inch double-faced film tape. 2) With a pencil, lightly mark the perimeter of the area to receive the trim and wallcovering on the wall. 3) Measure and cut the trim to size using a miter saw with a carbide-tipped blade. Cut the ends of each piece to a 45-degree angle. The longest leg of the trim will face the new wallcovering side. 4) Apply craft-type contact adhesive or double-faced tape to the backside of the longest leg and adhere to the wall. Follow manufacturer s directions. 5) With a broad knife, feather drywall compound to the highest point on the long leg of the trim to the wall. 6) Follow wallcovering installation instructions. For best results, apply wallcovering and leave approximately 1/8-inch extra material around the perimeter. Tuck the exposed edges into the 1/16-inch opening.
