5 What a great joy it is to welcome our children this morning. These small ones who hold the mysteries of God s love in their hearts, whose words can keep the evil one at bay, whose inherent nature is the posture we all must carry into the Kingdom we welcome them with open arms and hearts. Church, as a Sunday morning activity, can get regular and segregated: everyone in their own spaces, with their own experiences. But in changing the morning, in letting the children lead, in hearing the heart of God s love through their words and expression, by sitting side by side, old and young, we are called outside of our regular modes, to hear and learn differently. And that s a good thing. But it is an even better thing to teach these children their value, the way they are loved and celebrated in this place. That we have space for them, a place for them and a hope for them. We don t expect them to stay hidden and silent, but to let their voices ring loudly and proclaim love in a way only children can. This is a Sunday well spent....more than a candy (Chris Stevens, Lead Pastor) The candy cane, no matter its roots, tells an important story: WHITE the purity of Jesus, the one who lived a sin-free life and humbled Himself on the cross. RED Jesus sacrifice, creating right relationship with Him, overcoming not only our sin but death as well in this profound act of love. GREEN new life. By accepting Jesus sacrifice and resurrection, we are invited to follow Him, living out Kingdom principles today and into eternity. Jesus entered into the world in an unexpected way welcoming shepherds, outsiders, first to the manger. His birth story is one of love d humility, full of forgiveness, peace and mercy. When we share a candy cane, it is much more than a candy it tells a story of love, forgiveness and hope that lasts all year round. wmbchurch.ca WaterlooMB
