3 LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Brethren and Friends, It is my honor and privilege to report the course of the Foundation for We take great pride in the wonderful programs that are offered through the Foundation. The Masonic Assistance Program for Seniors, through our partnership with the Oklahoma Association of Area Agencies on Aging, is continuing to benefit the needs of the elderly with our 2011 contribution totaling $750,063. What an impact that amount has made to insure the health and safety of the elderly in Oklahoma. Through our State Funded Four Year University Endowment program we have contributed a total of $400,000 to address a specific need, identified by each university, with the goal of making a positive impact on the students and the communities influenced by each university. This program will conclude in Last, but not least, is our Matching Funds program which has proven to be the most popular program of the Foundation. This program makes it possible for a Lodge to give better gifts than it could by itself. In 2011, we expended $1,586,971 in Matching Funds for charitable and/or educational causes throughout the state. Since these funds are, by definition, doubled, Oklahoma Masons through the Lodges have invested a minimum of $3,173,942 into their communities through this program in This program literally doubles the effective benevolence of the Lodge. Throughout this Report you will see other detailed programs for which you should take pride.your help in the past have made these programs possible. Because the work of the Foundation is so important, I would ask that you continue your support of these fine programs. We are your Foundation and with your support we will continue to make our communities a better place through Masonic charity. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff of our Foundation, I want to thank you for your support. 5 2011 MASONIC CHARITY FOUNDATION OF OKLAHOMA PROGRAMS PUBLIC WELLNESS Partners in Prevention Partners in Prevention is the oldest partnership of the Foundation. Prevent Blindness Oklahoma works very hard to assure that no Oklahoma school child has undetected vision problems, and that no senior citizen is developing conditions of the eyes which will lead to blindness. Vision screenings are regularly conducted in schools and other locations. The Masonic Fraternity is a proud partner in their work. Over the years, the vision of thousands of Oklahomans, young and old, has been saved. During the school year 1,253 screenings were conducted. A total of 189 Masonic Lodges participated in screening 301,403 children of which 46,927 were referred for professional eye examinations. In 2011 we gave $150, to support the vision screening program. In total, we have given more than $2,744, to Prevent Blindness Oklahoma. That amounts to a cost of less than $0.50 for each child screened. It is hard to imagine how any money could earn a greater return in terms of sorrow avoided and happiness assured. Masonic Assistance Program for Seniors In 2007 the Masonic Charity Foundation began a partnership with the Oklahoma Association of Area Agencies on Aging (04A) and developed the Masonic Assistance Program for Seniors. This program continues today. The program is designed to help older persons with health and safety needs for which there was previously no formal or informal program in place to help. It is the only statewide program that covers gaps between existing assistance programs. The program addresses such needs as assistance with minor home repairs, access ramps and modifications to doorways and bathrooms, purchase of dentures, eyeglasses and emergency medical equipment to name a few. In 2011, the contribution to the Oklahoma Association of Area Agencies on Aging was $750, to be used in the year Since the beginning of the program, the Foundation has donated a total of $4,235, in the name of the Freemasons of Oklahoma. PUBLIC EDUCATION Student of Today & Teacher of Today program ( school year) The Student of Today & Teacher of Today programs recognizes outstanding students and teachers in Oklahoma Public Schools and is the oldest Oklahoma Masonic program in support of education. Through this program, students are identified by their teachers and school administrators as truly outstanding in their class. The Masonic Charity Foundation prepares special certificates and sends them to the Lodges or schools for presentation. The Foundation prepared 2,614 certificates for Student of Today. These certificates were presented through 191 Lodges to deserving students. Good teachers challenge us to do our best, reassure us when we seem to be failing, support us when everything seems to be against us, bring us back into line when we drift out, and listen to us when no one else will. The Foundation prepared 888 certificates for Teacher of Today. These certificates were presented through 180 Lodges to honor outstanding teachers. Senior Essay Contest ( school year) The Senior Essay Contest was launched in 1966 in support of education. It is one of the most important. Writing has been found to teach critical thinking skills. The essay contest is open to all seniors in Oklahoma public schools. It is sponsored by the Masonic fraternity in Oklahoma as part of its continuing commitments to education and to the young people of our state. Cash prizes in both the Men's and Women's division range from $2,000 for 1st place to $100 for 10th place. This year, the Foundation received and professionally graded 2,313 essays, awarded 685 certificates through 118 Lodges, and paid out $13, in prizes.

6 2011 MASONIC CHARITY FOUNDATION OF OKLAHOMA PROGRAMS (continued) Oklahoma Teacher of the Year The Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year program was created by the state's Department of Public Education. The Council of Chief State School Officers, sponsor of the national Teacher of the Year program, has found Oklahoma provides the best recognition program for its State Teacher of the Year. We began our partnership with them in One outstanding teacher is selected from Local Teachers of the Year to serve as the State Teacher of the Year. That person is expected to spend the year going from school to school across the state, helping other teachers and inspiring students. It is a great honor, but it is almost always an expensive one for the teacher. The Foundation gives the Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year a grant of $5,000 to help offset these costs, and an additional $5,000 to the school district in which the Teacher of the Year teaches. We also give $1,000 to each of the eleven state runners-up and $500 to each of the six Rising Star teachers; and, we present personalized certificates recognizing each school's nominee for Teacher of the Year. In 2011, a total of $23,500 was awarded and 144 certificates were presented. State Superintendent's Awards for Arts Excellence This program recognizes the best and brightest of public school students in the arts. Sponsored by the Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education and underwritten by the Masonic Charity Foundation since 1998, this program gives public attention to the accomplishments of these students. We are proud to assist the efforts of the Alliance for Arts Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction in promoting and preserving the arts in Oklahoma public schools. The Foundation contributed $7, this year bringing the total to $92, of support to the State Superintendent's Awards for Arts Excellence program. The Payne Education Center The Payne Education Center instructs teachers how to teach dyslexic children how to read. They use the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital reading program which is highly successful in teaching dyslexic children how to read. But the system is not taught in the teacher training programs in college. The Payne Education Center teaches that system to reading teachers. For every teacher trained, and for each year of teaching with Payne curriculum, 20 children benefit by learning to become competent readers, writers and spellers. The Masonic Charity Foundation has been a staunch and faithful supporter and advocate of Payne for 23 of Payne's 26 years of existence. Our 2011 support for the Payne Education Center was $40,000. Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (O.E.T.A.) The mission of the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority is to provide educational and public television programming to the people of Oklahoma on a coordinated statewide basis. In 2011 Masons, through their Lodges and Foundation, contributed $49, to O.E.T.A. The Masons of Oklahoma have actively supported OETA since 1999 through cash donations totaling $584,410. We currently sponsor the OETA Movie Club, Antiques Roadshow, Nature, and This Old House. COMMUNITY Matching Funds Program The Matching Funds Program of the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma provides each Oklahoma Masonic Lodge with $12,500 each year for local charitable or educational needs in their community. By putting the funding decision in the hands of local community members, needs are more readily identified and the funds more effi-

7 2011 MASONIC CHARITY FOUNDATION OF OKLAHOMA PROGRAMS (continued) ciently utilized to solve community needs. This program enables local Lodge leaders to identify worthy charitable needs and work with other local groups to achieve positive outcomes. The program literally doubles the effective financial benevolence of the Lodge. In 2011 the Foundation processed 1,978 requests from Lodges totaling $1,586, for local community charitable or educational purposes. Since 1983, Lodges have utilized a total of $18,131, for these projects, and since those funds are, by definition, doubled, Oklahoma Masons through the Lodges have invested a minimum of $36,263, into their communities through this program. ON BEHALF OF THE FRATERNITY Promises Matter Grants Direct financial grants are available to assist needy Oklahoma Masons, their wives, widows and mothers, plus Oklahoma female members of the Eastern Star. These grants are intended to solve a problem rather than be an ongoing monthly stipend. The Lodge is asked to assist their own member first with some appropriate contribution and request Matching Funds. In 2011 a total of 32 grants were made totaling $106, Youth Scholarship Program The Foundation administers the Education Endowment Fund, the interest of which is used for scholarships to any accredited college or university (accredited Trade or Vocational schools are also eligible). These scholarships are available to current and senior members of DeMolay, Rainbow and Job's Daughters. Since the Foundation began administering the program in 1999 a total of 621 scholarships have been awarded to 264 DeMolay, Job's Daughters and Rainbow members in the amount of $610, Masonic Youth Group's Trust Funds The Foundation monetarily supports the Trust Funds of the three Oklahoma Masonic Youth Groups - Rainbow, Job's Daughters and DeMolay. These trust funds are set up to have the annual interest earned go to support the youth organization. Also, on a case-by-case basis, the annual Foundation contribution can be redirected to a charitable or educational project of a Youth Order rather than go to the Trust Fund. Since 1983 the Foundation has contributed $478, to the Trusts or their special projects. George Washington Masonic Memorial All Masonic Grand Lodges in America are owners of this national memorial, located in Alexandria, Virginia, dedicated to the life, character and principles of the Father of our Country, Master Mason George Washington. In 2011 the Foundation increased it s an annual contribution to this outstanding Masonic edifice to $1.00 per member on the rolls. Oklahoma is one of only 17 Grand Jurisdictions providing this significant level of support. Masonic Service Association of N.A. This organization was formed to organize Masonic efforts to support servicemen and veterans. It continues these efforts through its Hospital Visitation Program, but does much more. MSA provides Masonic educational information, both Masonic and non-masonic, to a broad public. It coordinates national Masonic efforts in disaster relief. On behalf of the Fraternity the Foundation makes Oklahoma's contribution in support of these noble programs. In 2011 our support for MSA programs and appeals was $16,
