1 Merit Badge Counselor Directory Rose Bowl District Greater Los Angeles Area Council Revised 22 August
2 1 June 2017 Dear Scout, Congratulations on your progress toward becoming an Eagle Scout! The directory that follows lists the names of my friends and colleagues around the district who would like to help you along your path to Eagle by guiding you through the several merit badge programs that Scouting has to offer. I hope that you will meet as many of us as you can as you work through the program: we're special people, and we re all excited to help you along! As with all things, this directory has some disclaimers, which I list here. This list is not meant to be inclusive. There are many excellent counselors in Rose Bowl District and around Scouting who are not listed here. Just because a person s name is not on this list does not mean that he or she is not an excellent merit badge counselor. Moreover, this is not the only list of merit badge counselors that is available in the district. Many of our troops, camps, and service areas have internal lists, which are excellent resources. You should use these to your best benefit with the guidance of your Scoutmaster and troop leaders. Your Scoutmaster is the best arbiter of fitness of any particular badge or counselor for you. Get your Scoutmaster to sign a blue card approving you to take the badge from the counselor you choose before you start work on it. Your Scoutmaster has your best interests at heart; give him or her a chance to guide you as you plan your merit badge program. Furthermore, your Scoutmaster or unit advancement coordinator might have a list of in-troop merit badge counselors, which is a great resource for you. Thanks for your interest in the merit badge program and best wishes on your trail to Eagle. Please let me know when you cross the finish line! Sincerely, Travis J. Williams, Ph.D. Rose Bowl District Chairman Cushman Watt Scout Center Smiser Scout Center 2333 Scout Way 3450 East Sierra Madre Blvd Los Angeles, CA Pasadena, CA Phone Phone
