The cables are compliant with the current SFF-8431, SFF-8432 and SFF-8472 specifications. They fill the expanding need for cost effective data center interconnects that cannot be served with passive copper or expensive fiber optic solutions. Quellan s unique low power silicon provides the additional benefit of consuming 50-75% less power than optical interconnects. When systems are optimized to operate with active copper cables, the end-to-end interconnect consumes significantly less power and emits less EMI than passive copper based systems that require the use of EDC hosts. In addition, the control features TX_Disable and RX_LOS are supported. Cable output is measured for a range of input parameters defined in SFF-8431 rev 3.3. Unless otherwise noted, the PRBS-31 pattern was used as the stressed signal as well as the crosstalk aggressor. 4 O U T p u t e y e d i a g r a m s Figure 2 shows the result of a test of a 10m SFP+ active Cable for compliance with the SFF-8431 limiting module specification. The measurement was done with the setup in Figure 1, in the presence of a crosstalk aggressor crosstalk aggressor and using the PRBS-31 test pattern. The red contour line shows the projected eye opening at the BER of 10-12, while the green diamond shape is the SFF-8431 limiting output compliance mask.
