4 ny's Magne Sony's high-precision Magnescale The Magnescale was developed through Sony's advanced capabilities in magnetic technologies..in addition to being highly durable, it is highly accurate and provides excellent resolution. The Magnescale is also highly reliable and comes in a diverse line-up that satisfies a wide range of needs. We continue to lead the world of precision measurements with technologies that we continually evolve. Magnetic scales [ Magnescale ] The Magnescale* developed by Sony consists of magnetically recorded scale materials and flux response-type multi-gap heads for detecting linear movements and rotation angles with high precision. The scale, which is made up of a rod or ribbon consisting of ferromagnetic alloy, is recorded with magnetic scale marks in.2mm intervals. All marks are recorded using a laser interferometer so they are extremely accurate, the flux response-type multi-gap heads detect only the magnetized patterns on the scale, and these are converted to signals that correspond to the amount of movement. The.2mm interval analog signals detected by the heads are divided electrically, converted to high resolution digital signals that are suited to length measurements and controls, and then are sent to output. When the index scale is moved longitudinally, the moire fringes also move longitudinally. Shifts in the fringes are detected and amplified by the photoelectric converter element, divided electrically, converted to high resolution digital signals for measurements and controls, and then are sent to output. 5 [ High-precision Magnescale ] The magnetic medium that coats the scale material was specially developed for magnetic scales using Sony's expertise in magnetic technologies. The fine magnetic particles enable magnetic recording at shorter wavelengths and higher outputs. The sensor, which is designed to provide stable and precise signal detection, is made by forming precise sensor patterns using photolithography and provides accurate signal reading. This gives the sensor the ability to generate high-quality and stable signals that meet the demands of applications where high precision is crucial. Additionally, in terms of signal processing and its interpolation circuitry, the scale provides highly precise interpolation accuracy owing to superb functions such as the highspeed/high-division function, and signal correction function. [ Absolute Magnescale ] The Absolute Magnescale» is based on technologies used in the high-precision Magnescale» and is designed to detect absolute positions. Equipped with a dedicated MR sensor for absolute position detection, and a dedicated LSI for high-precision, high-resolution, and high-speed response, this scale provides excellent precision and reliability. Whereas the electrical processing circuitry had formerly to be a separate unit because of its size, the dedicated LSI has enabled designers to reduce the size of the circuitry and integrate it into the scale, reducing its form factor. These signals are divided electrically, converted to high resolution digital signals for measurements and controls, and then are sent to output. 6 Features High-precision (SR7 and SR8 series) Scales Sony has brought together all of its expertise in magnetic technology to develop a new magnetic material for magnetic scales that provides highprecision and high-density recording, enabling these scales to make magnetic recordings at shorter wavelengths and higher outputs. Detection heads Detection heads use MR elements with sensor patterns that are capable of generating highly accurate and stable signals from minute variations in the magnetic flux. Interpolation High resolution ( Onm) and excellent precision are achieved by processing high-quality, high-output, and stable signals with functions such as highspeed division and automatic compensation functions that were developed with our proprietary interpolation technologies. Fast response speed (SR7 and SR8 series) These scales achieve a response speed of 2m/min at high resolution (nm).they make the best feedback scales for linear motors. Excellent environmental resistance Magnetic scales consist of scale marks made of permanent magnets. They are therefore impervious to the effects of condensation and retain their detection ability even when exposed to coolants. Since the scale and body are made of iron they are robust against many causes of failure. Smaller scales also offer excellent levels of vibration and shock resistance. Thermal expansion equal to that of cast material Since the body is made of iron, its thermal expansion coefficient is roughly equal to that of cast material. Therefore, even at temperatures other than 2 C, at which the scales' precision was rated, there is no distortion in its precision.

The SR-72 RD and SR-72 RN have a scale cable terminated with a connector and can be connected directly to a Interpolator with the mating connecter. The provided HK cable may be used to connect the SR-72 RN to the Interpolator which requires the HK cable unit (including the head amplifier). Compact design.
