4 A SINGLE SUPPLIER FOR ALL YOUR APPLICATIONS Guided wave radar Microwave pulses guided down a probe reach the media and part of the signal is reflected back. The time difference between sending and receiving is measured, and the level and/or interface level is derived. Non contacting radar A microwave signal launched into the tank is reflected back from the product surface. The time or frequency difference between sending and receiving the signal is measured, and the product level is derived. DP and hydrostatic level The pressure measurement of the liquid's mass and the media's density is used to derive level. Ultrasonic Guided wave radar Top mount For level and interface measurement of liquids or solids Suitable for wide temperature and pressure requirements Unaffected by media properties such as: density, viscosity, conductivity, turbulence, dust See page 10 An ultrasonic pulse launched into the tank is reflected back from the liquid surface. The time difference between sending and receiving the pulse is measured and the liquid level derived. Vibrating fork Noncontacting radar Top mount For liquid or solids tank levels Suitable for wide temperature and pressure requirements Unaffected by fluid properties such as: density, viscosity, dirty coating, corrosiveness Can be isolated by valves See page 14 The fork oscillates at its natural frequency in air. The switch electronics continuously monitor the frequency and when liquid covers the fork, causing the frequency to drop, an alarm signal is given. Float switch When the liquid rises to the level of the float switch, the float rises. A glandless magnetic coupling between float and switch mechanism operates the voltage-free contacts of the switch and an alarm signal is given. Specialized conductivity Side mount For steam/water interface gauging, condensate detection, turbine water induction protection High reliability steam drum level Fault tolerant operation See page 30 Specialized conductivity A series of electrodes mounted in a water column is connected to a boiler steam drum. By measuring the electrical resistance of each electrode, which differs in steam or water, the controller determines steam / water interface level. 4
