Purpose of the event Mesh Assurance Event at The BRE Prepared by: David Owens Version: v2.0 Date: 22 nd September 2016
Mesh Radio Assurance Event Todays event was organised as a Mesh Assurance Event for the DCC & Industry, by the Telefonica's. The event was hosted by the Building Research Establishment in Watford which has many real unoccupied homes that we were able to use for Building Penetration Loss & Mesh Connectivity testing. The event took place over 3 consecutive days - 20 th, 21 st, & 22 nd September The team will demonstrated the ability of Mesh Radio to connect meters in hard to reach location using antennas and Mesh Radio, and that the Comms hubs could form and reform a mesh network in repeatable way to adjacent properties. The demonstration took place over the live O2 Network, and used the production; C4 Connode servers, & Comm Hubs using 10i Firmware The event deemed to be a successful event by the DCC & Industry. 4

smart radio Telefonica s Coverage Explained Prepared by: David Owens Version: v1.0 Date: 19 th September 2016
Table of Contents 01_ Committed Coverage Recap 02_ Coverage Conclusions 06_ Coverage Map 07_ B9 South & Central region postcode release map 7 7
01 Committed Coverage Recap Coverage Solution 95% % 99.25% 97.0 % Contract position Existing network 95% Antennas 2% MESH 0.75% Planned 1.5% 0.75% % % % 4 years 4.8 years 5 years WAN Coverage Solution SMIP contractual coverage will be achieved using cellular, antennas and mesh technology; a) 95% current footprint, b) 2% Cellular using Antennas, c) 0.75% using Mesh, d) 1.50% planned coverage, e) 0.75% remaining out of scope. The original business case & contract was constructed based 90% cellular & 10% Antenna + Mesh CH mix but this was a prediction, so we expect the actual numbers to vary Currently the Mesh & Antenna risk envelope remains between 7% to 13%. The final numbers will depend upon the sensitivity values achieved by the production CH. We continue to review the latest end-game coverage plans to assess the shortfall risk in This will also helps us predict future reliance in alternative technology; such as antennas and/or mesh. 8 8
Current Status We delivered 80% B8 & BI milestone on the 1 st Oct 2015 Today Telefonica covers 95% of premises in the South & Central Regions Source Telefonica street level measurements. Antennas will increase that coverage by 2%, taking premise coverage to 97.0%. Mesh then provides a further 0.75%, taking the coverage to the required 97.75%. B % was delivered on the With the combination of; Coverage, Antennas & Mesh radio described above, Telefonica have now delivered required 97.75% B13 Milestone. The coverage database provided, contains recommendations at premise level, indicating where Mesh may be replaced with new sites in the future, using low reliability of coverage, in the reliability field in the coverage checker database BMAX 99.25% will be delivered on the The remaining 1.5% BMAX milestone will be reliant on planned coverage delivery. The final 0.75% of premise will remain out of scope 9 02 Coverage Coverage conclusions Conclusions - - Stay as we predicted 12 months ago 9
