3 TRUMPT Vacuum Tube MM Phonostage escription The Trumpet is a state-of-the-art MM phonostage that uses balanced feedback-free differential triode gain stages and passive equalization. This topology offers incredible linearity and low distortion combined with unrestricted dynamics and clarity, delivering a hugely open and clear sound. The massive power supply is fully choke regulated for clean, impulse-free current draw from the ac line. The Trumpet has earned Stereophile class A recommendation and industry acclaim. 4 TRUMPT Vacuum Tube MM Phonostage 4 Operation The Trumpet installs between your turntable and linestage. e sure to connect the ground lead to the grounding lug near the inputs. o NOT operate unit without tubes installed. onnect the power cord to a 0Vac source. Turn on the Heater switch and wait for 0 to 0 seconds. Then turn on the high voltage. The indicator lamp will turn green. The Trumpet requires about 0 minutes to warm up and sound its best, which is typical of high quality tube equipment. Set both Mute/Polarity switches to the right (or left for inverted signal). enter position is mute. Tube Rolling The Trumpet responds admirably to tube rolling. New old stock (NOS) tubes are generally the best, offering various sonic improvements. ifferent tubes sound differently, and the final result becomes a matter of personal taste. Always replace tubes with their equivalents! o not use, for example, a AT in one of the AX locations. Starting from the rear of the unit (near RA jacks), the tubes are in order: AX, AX, AU, and AU. It is best to use matched tubes in matched left-right pairs.
