2 Application Form Project Name* Name of Project Motorola WAVE Licensing Project Description* Description of Project WAVE Radio is a technology that has recently been implemented on the City of Fort Worth Radio System. The WAVE technology provides a means to communicate on the radio system using a PC, ios, or Android device over any available Internet connection. The primary benefit to this system will be the ability for decision makers to monitor and communicate on the public safety radio system whenever they may be out of the regular coverage area of the system. This would be particularly useful in the event of a major emergency. Additionally, this system provides an economical means to provide communications and situational awareness to elected officials and administrators without the high cost of providing a public safety radio to each person. IT is proposing the purchase of the following WAVE components to launch this capability. 2 Desktop Communicator License: Provide communications from an Internet connected PC. These licenses are proposed for the Sheriff s War Room and Mobile Command Center. 12 Communications Channel Licenses: Each talk-group that is made available on the WAVE radio system must be licensed. In addition to the channels that would license on the system, the county-wide interoperability channels for Police, Fire, EMS, and Public Works are being provided by the City of Fort Worth and accessible to all users. 27 Mobile Communicator Licenses: These licenses allow the mobile devices to communicate on the system. The license quantity limits the number of users that can be connected simultaneously. It does not limit the number of users that have access to the system. The WAVE radio system will provide another great tool to use in the event of an emergency. This system will expand our interoperable emergency communications far beyond our County boundaries and ensure that the right people are kept connected at the most critical times.
