SATERN Communication Vehicle Serves the Communities QST, Devoted Entirely to Amateur Radio, Magazine emphasized Serving Our Communities in the September 2015 issue. News and Features story, National Mass Care Exercise 2015 and SATERN Communications page 71 (by Mike Cory, KI1U). The four page article is one for all amateur radio buffs, and SATERN members especially to be informed and enjoy. Aug 16 - Jackson County Triathlon (Longview Lake) Steve Lester, KDØEKS led a mixed team of community minded volunteers with the SATERN Communications Vehicle to provide vital coordination & safety. Steve Lester is pictured on the left in both pictures below on the Communications Mule at the Jackson County, MO Triathlon held on August 16, 2015.

Yes, it s not all work! Volunteering can be fun when the cause and your fellows serve the communities.
Aug 23 - Summer Breeze Bicycle Tour Riders at rest stop converse with Ken Sonnenschein MD. Fun & Service to the community goes hand-in-hand with all volunteers.
Started at Longview Community College, Lee s Summit, MO Five-hundred fifty bicycle riders The Route covered Belton, Cleveland, Drexel, Amarugia, Freeman, Peculiar, and Raymore, Missouri. Finished behind Gusto Coffee, Lees Summit, MO SATERN Communications Vehicle 105 served the community Join us in support of the 2015 MS Ride Larry s List - One more call for volunteers for the 2015 MS Ride on September 19 and 20. We support 1800 or so bicycle riders over multiple courses between the Garmin HQ in Olathe and downtown Lawrence. This is a well-established ride and very well organized. It is a fun event for participants and volunteers. If you have any interest in volunteering, let me know. We can work with schedule restrictions and equipment limitations. We use over 50 hams each day, so we can find a position that fits you. For new hams, this is also a great event to get your feet wet in public service events. Because of the size of the event, we can pair you up with an experienced operator and you'll get a chance to see how hams are an indispensable part of these events. If you have any questions or wish to volunteer for Saturday, Sunday or both - let me know. Thanks Herb Fiddick (NZØF) hfiddick@gmail.com
View the video to see the fun on the faces of riders of the MS Bike Ride Many SATERN members provide community support for this endeavor. SATERN is an accepted part of the greater Kansas City community.
