5 General Information, able Information, Introduction and erformance Features onnector and able Information ower ontrol onnectors The Global ower ontrol Input and Local ower ontrol Inputs receive On/Off signals from + to +2 volts. The Global ower ontrol Output will provide a +2 volt Output Signal with a current up to 2mA. The Local ower ontrol Outputs will in turn provide from + to +2 volt Output Signal (Input Signal Dependent). The Global ower ontrol Input has an additional connection for ower ontrol eter Illumination ontrol Ground controlling the illumination of the Voltage and urrent Output eters. The /8 inch stereo mini phone plug connects to a cintosh omponent ower ontrol Output. Note: The ower ontrol onnecting able is available from the cintosh arts Department: Data and ower ontrol able art No. 722 Six foot, shielded 2 conductor, with /8 inch stereo mini phone plugs on each end. Introduction Now you can add to your system the advantage of traditional cintosh standards of excellence in the ower ontroller. It offers full transformer isolation from the incoming A Line for the components connected to it. The helps to assure the sound and video reproduction from your cintosh System is the best it can be, totally transparent and absolutely accurate. erformance Features Toroidal Isolation ower Transformer The very large Toroidal Isolation ower Transformer used in the occupies over three quarters of the internal space in the chassis. It ensures stable noise free operation for the audio/video components connected to the. It also isolates them from potential interference produced from common household appliances that utilize motors, compressors and electronic control devices. Stable Voltage The s Large Isolation ower Transformer minimizes variations in the voltage available to the connected components as they draw more current, up to the Amp rating on the Rear anel. Lono Technology The LONO T (Low Noise) Transformer Technology from litron used in the, eliminates audible noise emanating from the Transformer and thus will not distract from musical enjoyment, even with varying A Line conditions. Superior Line Surge rotection The cintosh utilizes the finest, most sophisticated surge suppression technology available. LONO T is a registered trademark of litron anufacturing Inc. Unlike most of the A Line Surge protection devices available, the doesn t rely on commonly used inexpensive OV devices. The OV s can fail after just one surge thus no longer providing protection and they can allow as much as 3 times the line voltage through to the connected components allowing substantial damage to occur. The incorporates Torus T Surge Suppression ircuitry, which activates around 2V above peak nominal voltage providing constant long term protection. Illuminated Voltage and urrent eters The Illuminated Voltage and urrent eters indicate at all times the voltage available to your cintosh omponents and the actual current consumed by them. ower ontrol The ower ontrol Input connection provides convenient TurnOn/Off of the cintosh with your cintosh System. Extruded Side anels The sides of the are extruded aluminum panels with a bead blast textured surface and a black anodized finish. Fiber Optic Solid State Front anel Illumination The even Illumination of the Front anel is accomplished by the combination of custom designed Fiber Optic Light Diffusers and extra long life Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The glass Front anel ensures the pristine beauty of the will be retained for many years. Torus T Torus ower Technology under license from litron anufacturing Inc.

The four feet may be removed from the bottom of the when it is custom installed as outlined below. The four feet together with the mounting screws should be retained for possible future use if the is removed from the custom installation and used free standing. The required panel cutout, ventilation cutout and unit dimensions are shown. Always provide adequate ventilation for your. ool operation ensures the longest possible operating life for any electronic instrument. Do not install the directly above a heat generating component such as a high powered amplifier. If all the components are installed in a single cabinet, a quiet running ventilation fan can be a definite asset in maintaining all the system components at the coolest possible operating temperature. A custom cabinet installation should provide the following minimum spacing dimensions for cool operation. Allow at least 4 inches (.6cm) above the top, 2 inches (.8cm) below the bottom and inch (2.4cm) on each side of the ower ontroller, so that airflow is not obstructed. Allow 2 inches (.8cm) depth behind the front panel. Allow 2 inches (.8cm) in front of the mounting panel for knobs. 28 J A How to Operate The ower ontroller is very versatile in its connection and operation in an Audio, Video or Audio/Video System. There are two examples of connecting and using the on pages 8 and 9 of this Owner s anual. By becoming familiar with the How to Operate section of this Owner s anual many additional connection and operation possibilities will become apparent. ower ontrol To have the automatically turn On or Off when a reamplifier or A/V ontrol enter turns on or off, rotate the OWER ONTROL Switch to the REOTE position. For manual operation, rotate the OWER ON TROL Switch to the ON or OFF position as desired. Refer to figure 2. Notes:. There must be a power 28 control connection between the Figure 2 Global ower ontrol Input and the reamplifier or A/V ontrol enter, in order for the remote power turnon to function. 2. When the OWER ONTROL Switch is placed in the ON the position, the Global ower ontrol Input activation is overridden. 3. A Outlets 3 thru 6 switch On in sequence with a slight delay in time between each outlet activation. eter Illumination Rotate the ETER LIGHTS Switch to select the meter operation mode you desire. Refer to figure 2. OFF eter lights are switched Off. Note: The meters will continue to indicate the Input A Line Voltage and the consumed urrent. AUTO eter lights are switched On. When Global ower ontrol Input of the is connected Figure 2 to a cintosh reamplifier or A/V ontrol enter with Remote eter Illumination ontrol, the eter Illumination will be remotely controlled (On/ Off). Volt eter The VOLTS eter indicates the A Voltage available at the A Outlets on the Rear anel. Refer to figure 22. The utilizes a very Figure 22 large isolation power transformer, so essentially the VOLTS eter reading is a reflection of the incoming A Line Voltage. If the VOLTS eter reading starts to drop more than several volts (from the nominal voltage reading at lower current consumption) when the AERES eter indicates 6 Amps of current or greater, it may be an indication of a condition known as A Line Sag. A Line Sag is usually a result of limitations in the A Wiring in the walls due to small wire size and/or long lengths of wire. For additional assistance in this matter contact your cintosh Dealer and/or Electrical ontractor. urrent eter The AERES eter indicates the total amount of current being consumed by the components connected to the A Outlets. Refer to figure 23. It is Figure 23 normal for the AERES eter indication to fluctuate especially when a ower Amplifier or Integrated Amplifier is connected to the A Outlets and music is being played loudly. Rear anel Options A Outlets number 3 thru 6 can be individually configured to become active via three different methods using the Rear anel Switches. The first way is using the default configuration (the switch in the GLB position) where the outlet is controlled to switch On or Off via the Global ower ontrol Input or the Front anel ower ontrol Switch. Refer to figure 24 on the next page. The second option is to have any one of the A Outlets (number 3 thru 6) controlled independently On/Off via the Local ower

29 How to Operate Figure 24 Figure 2 Figure 26 ontrol Input for each outlet by placing the Rear anel Switch in the LL osition. Refer to figure 2. The last option is to have the A Outlets number 3 thru 6 On all the time by placing the Rear anel Switch in the ON osition. Refer to figure 26. J A 29
