It was a sunny Saturday, (KG5CEN,) Glen had called me (KE5QKR) the weekend before and it just didn t work out. Bummer.

Going into battle with a mighty OAK, we used the Cheap Old Man antenna launcher to get the Cajun Line fishing monofilament over the branches.

Then we found and/or made a path through the tree for the two dipole elements, one side with a coil, to have a point to grab on to in order to complete the inverted V plan.

Then, the skies cleared, the stars aligned and we got together and knocked it out. Once up, we drove in the ground rod at the side of the house and ran the ground wire from the shack, installed the through the window connector plate and the coax and went straight for the magic. SWR s FLAT. Power looks good. No RF biting us. What?!? No sparks or flames? Oh this is not looking good. This can t be right! Oh No! What did we do wrong?!? First contact on 20 meters made! We heard him, he heard us! Success! Welcome to HF Glenn and congrats on the station and the license upgrade! Sounded great on the 10 meter and 75 meter nets this Friday. The EX-P handles 5 volts max so I figured it was okay with 4.5 volts, It got hot, but then it outputs 3 watts... And it didn't work at all at 3 volts. Later I got another EX-P to work with a 3.7 volt LiPo battery. Since I began writing I got an idea that this nodule needs to be mounted on a heat sink, which it is definitely not. First thought was to make a heat sink out of a can and use heat conducting silicone between it and the metal backing of the EX-P, but I don't have any silicone... The other though is, maybe this unit needs a small fan. When it works, this NoirFlash will increase the range of your Pi Noir camera dramatically. 15
