Unmatched image quality Advanced electro photographic processing technology has been applied to both copying and printing functions to bring about a significant image quality improvement. A new developer with extremely fine particles allows increased image stability and uniformity during the printing process. This delivers improved reproduction of continuous tone, and additive colours such as skin tones. The FC22i also contains a conventional image quality control system and features laser power control and a photo conductor drum with a high tolerance to differences in temperature and humidity in the office environment. Together, these elements result in a marked increase in the stability of tone reproduction and the uniformity of colour output density. Superb sharpness The FC22i has incorporated an image processing algorithm which adjusts the scanned image data during the copying process. For instance, the system allows simultaneous rotation of four drums in colour printing, rather than rotation of one drum four separate times as in conventional units. As a result, the FC22i achieves high-speed performance as well as accelerated first copy delivery. In addition, Toshiba s proprietary technology features an amazingly small drum size (30Ø) for greatly reduced copier dimensions, as well as a straight paper path. This streamlined design greatly simplifies the copier configuration, for fewer paper jams. Optional ADU (Automatic Duplexing Unit) contributes to faster, more efficient automatic two-sided copying. Optional RADF (Reversing Automatic Document Feeder) automatically feeds documents and turns them over for rapid two-sided copying. SUPERIOR RESULTS ON SPECIAL PAPERS AND NEW OHP CAPABILITIES COMPLETELY USER FRIENDLY The FC22i not only achieves copying with exceptional quality and high speed, it s also very easy to use. The toner cartridge makes replenishment simple. It boosts output through reduced downtime and lets you keep your hands clean too! The direct paper path is highly reliable and allows greater productivity, while its design provides easy access in the event of a paper misfeed. The Toshiba Inline Colour system allows greater flexibility of paper stock, and the FC22i also has a thick paper mode which handles paper up to 110 lbs Index sheets. OHP (overhead projector) film printing combines the use of the highly developed toner and a fixation method to assist in eliminating glare and to enhance ink stability on each sheet. Areas of vivid colour can also be created with a high degree of transparency for an attractive improvement in presentation quality. For special convenience, OHP film can be loaded into the second cassette, which holds up to 100 sheets. To avoid fading or discoloration common to conventional colour copier/printer output and ensure consistent image processing conditions, the FC22i applies Toshiba proprietary image quality control technology using a CPU and sensors. By monitoring deviations from standard values, the CPU automatically corrects for differences by changing image processing conditions, maintaining image quality. The CPU even has a learning function which memorizes recurring conditions and adopts previous adjustment methods. This reduces time needed to achieve optimal image processing. HIGH-QUALITY IMAGE COPYING FUNCTIONS The FC22i achieves exceptionally sharp copying resolution of 9,600 dpi equivalent x 600 dpi with 256 gradations and printing resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. A smoothing algorithm changes 600 dpi scanned and stored images in memory into finer, smoother ones. During the printing process, precise control of print dots produces an ultra-fine one-sixteenth of a 600 dpi pixel.
