That achieves an effective resolution equivalent to 3,600 dpi (1,200 dpi x3). (1) Reduce jaggies in diagonal lines and text (2) Prevent tone jumping by creating optimum screenings (3) Crect col registration with high accuracy by image processing However, in skin smoothness in a photographic image, which is commonly considered as an indicat of image quality, the hardware resolution of 2,400 dpi is certainly not an advantage. Also, even if the hardware resolution is 2,400 dpi, they explain that the laser layout is 2,400 dpi, with overlapping exposure. The laser beam diameter is not actually 2,400 dpi = 10.6 μm, but rather fatter. In practice, overlapping exposure is used to maintain the level of 2,400dpi (10.6um per dot). Terminology Spot diameter The aperture diameter of the laser emitted in the user unit. In most digital printers, the spot diameter is larger than the print resolution, so the print resolution reflects the fineness of superposition between spots. Tone jump This is the phenomenon in which, when gradations and other intermediate tones are expressed, there is a sudden change of col in an area where changes should be smooth and gradual. At a certain density, halftone dots on the plate may move suddenly closer together, causing this problem. Jaggies Jagged lines produced by dots which make up the image. One is software resolution (process resolution of print data processing) and the other is hardware resolution (physical resolution of writing unit). The IDC sens measures their col, and obtains density crection infmation from the measurement to send feedback, thus allowing density adjustment accding to any changes in printer condition. This ensures constant high image quality. 19 Gloss stability Highly reliable fusing unit contributes gloss stability. The fusing roller within the fuser maintains heat to melt and fuse the toner onto the paper as well as to add gloss to the print. C7000/C6000 uses highly reliable fusing mechanism which contributes gloss stability. On the other hand, Xerox 700 has a fusing unit with the same mechanism as a compact printer, which does not provide the level of reliability required f a production machine. Because the lower roller contains bearings, rotation during paper feed is very smooth and stable. There is no speed difference between the center part and edges of the roller, producing a consistent finish. Reliable as a production machine Prone to gloss problems! Variation in gloss common The rubber part of the fusing roller is about 0.6mm, three times as thick as C7000, so it takes longer f the temperature lowered by the passing paper to return. In addition, the smaller roller size (half of that of C7000) means that a spot on the roller rotates and touches the paper in a shter cycle, making it difficult to regain the heat lost to the paper. As a result, variation in gloss is me common. Gloss irregularities can occur on the edges The lower roller has no bearings, so it does not rotate smoothly, making it easier f disttion to occur.
