2 Divinity Triptych Japanese Myth Series, Digital Montage Part of a large body of work dealing with Japanese myths; this image depicts the 3 Shinto deities: Amaterasu (Sun), Susanoo (Storm), & Tsukiyomi (Moon). They were born when Izanagi, after returning from The Land of the Dead, washed away both the spiritual and literal corruption of Death. This is part of a 30 image sequence (archival pigment prints) that are arranged in a gallery to tell a grand narrative.

3 Bagan at Dawn Platinum/Palladium, 11 x Bagan is the ancient capitol of the Myanmar empire in present-day Burma. It was a thriving center of religion, commerce and culture from 8th to 12th centuries of the Common Era. The city was sacked by the Mongols and was abandoned. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

5 Motherland & Identity Photo-Digital-Montage This image explores the nature of cultural identity, ethnicity and nationality. As a multi-cultural/multiethnic/multi-national person, this is a central theme for me. The formal elements of this montage consist of scans of my passport photos, passport stamps, embarkations, visas, etc., the National Seals of both the United States and Japan, an areal photo of Hawaii and a studio photo of an Asian-

9 The Autumn Rose Diptych Studio Photographs with Barae, a Butoh performer from Tokyo, Japan Butoh is a Japanese form of improv modern dance. In the West, modern dance developed out of the ballet tradition, whereas Butoh stems from classical Japanese dances and Kabuki.

10 Ghostly Reflection Studio Photographs with Barae, a Butoh performer from Tokyo, Japan Barae is a Japanese performance artist who comes out of the Butoh tradition. Her method is to create a persona with costume and makeup, then enter a kind of trance. What follows is an interpretive dance that reveals the essence of that persona. Butoh is a Japanese form of improv modern dance. In the West, modern dance developed out of the ballet tradition, whereas Butoh stems from classical Japanese dances and Kabuki.
