Washing instructions 6. Shelf life + yield 7. Assortment + packaging 8. Storage 9. General informations about MACO-products summary of attributesof LABOR PARTNER LP-AZUR A P-AZUR is a modern odorless 1-bath 2-Part Blue toner for treatment of Black & White prints as well as Black & White slides (Blue slides) The blue toning does not need a darkroom, since it is exercised under normal lighting conditions It serves the change of the image tone with LP-AZUR toned photos and films will show an especially pleasant blue tone. Fascinating and cool" looking results will be achieved with the use of MACO expo Ag - silvermetallic RC-Paper. LP-AZUR is available in easy to mix liquid concentrates. Works with Baryta (FB) - and RC-photographic papers of fixed and variable contrast. Suited for blue toning of films such as MACO ORT25 B/W-Orthofilm (Blue slides), Agfa SCALA. 1. Product description
LABOR PARTNER LP-AZUR is a Blue toner for use with processed black & white photos and films. The use of LP-AZUR will cause metal salts to accumulate at metallic image silver in proportion to the density. For customers who do not have experience in handling photographic chemistry and for first time users, it is especially important to pay attention to the safety notes, for thoes who have toning experience it is equally important to work with the instructions. Please read carefully the safety notes in chapter Application instructions LP-AZUR is a single bath toner, which will not emitt annoying or harmful vapors when working according to the instructions. For best results it is recommeded to use too light" photos and negatives (practically start with 0,5-1 f stop underexposure), since the blue toner will add to the existing density. Within limits, the time of immersion accounts for density of the achievable blue tone. One of the reasons to tone black & white prints with LP-AZUR is the variety of possible results. The special look of a blue toned photo raises the visual quality above the average. The blue toning of MACO expo Ag is of particular interest - due to the silvermetallic base coating one will receive unique image results. 3. Safety notes For your own safety, please follow the instructions: avoid direct contact with skin. Use tongs for handling photos. do not mix any other substances into LP-AZUR. keep photographic chemistry out of the reach of children. if contact with skin or eyes occurs wash with plenty of water. if accidentally swallowed, induce vomiting. In both cases seek medical assistance Disposal: According to local regulations. 4. Mixing / Toning Mixing takes place at room temperature. You can tone directly after mixing. Preferably mix only as much LP-AZUR as directly needed.
Mixing Dilute 1 part concentrate A and 1 part concentrate B with 8 parts tab water. Toning Dry as well as wet photos and films can be toned. Immersion time: 1-3 minutes, depending on wanted degree of toning. The toning takes place in a well lit room. Preferably you tone each print individually, emulsion side up with constant agitation. After having finished toning let excess liquid run off the print and immerse it into the final wash. To produce blue slides by using MACO ORT25, orthochromatic Black & White film: Expose your text or graphics, black onto white ground, in such a way, that the white background will show a medium density. The concentrates are diluted with tab water. Dilutions for part A and part B are the same: Toning variable contrast papers: 1. Immersion time in bath A (Bleach) : 2. Washing at 20 C/68 F : 3. Immersion time in bath B (Toner) : Dilution or sec minutes (Bleach has to be washed out completely) 60 sec. Toning graded papers: Dilution bis Immersion time in bath A (Bleach) : 2. Washing at 20 C / 68 F : 3. Immersion time in bath B (Toner) : Note about change of image tone: sec minutes (Bleach has to be washed out completely) 60 sec.
LP-SEPIA will cause different toning results with different photographic emulsions. In order to learn the actual change of image tone, we recommend to start toning with well washed spare prints. Chlorobromide papers such as MACO expo RF or expo RN will show a warmbrown image tone. Pure bromide papers such as MACO expo G will show a coldbrown image tone. Hint: The use of the Lazarus-Toning-Procedure, in short LTP*, makes it possible to achieve photos with a slight brown image tone without having fully brown toned photos: Dilute part A (bleach) , immersion time 2-4 minutes, then wash thoroughly, immerse into bath B (toner) which you have diluted for about 2-4 minutes. This is followed by the final wash. In order to control the degree of toning visually it is recommended to place an untoned photo of equal denisty into a tray filled with water. * LTP has been worked out in a Black & White professional Lab in Hamburg, LAZARUS FINE PRINTS" based on LABOR PARTNER LP-SEPIA. For Informations about the final wash, please read the following instructions. 5. Washing instructions After toning, prints have to be washed thoroughly. Preferably use the last chambers of the especially well suited MACO ecowash printwashers. Advantage of the ecowash is a short and thorough washing while saving water in comparison to conventional washing methods. Moreover, one avoids the risks of washing out optical brighteners or damaging the structure of the paper, which may happen due to long washing times. Washing times (20 C/68 F) With MACO ecowash PE/RC/ - photographic paper 5 Minutes Baryta/FB - photographic paper (double/premium weight) 18 Minutes Conventional washing methods PE/RC/ - photographic paper approx. 10 Minutes Baryta/FB - photographic paper (double/premium weight) approx. 60 Minutes 6. Shelf life + Yield
Shelf life: LP-SEPIA part A has a shelf life of 3-5 years and part B 1-2 years in unopened original bottles. Working solutions, if kept in glass bottles can be used for about 3 months depending on degree of useage. Yield: Depending on degree of toning and type and weight of paper one can tone per 1000 cc working solution: ca. 30 photos 24 x 30 cms (9,5x12") 7. Assortment + packaging LP-SELENIA is available as a liquid concentrate, 2 x 250cc for up to 2,5 liters working solution, article LPH52, and for professional use 2 x 1000cc for up to 10 liters, article LPH51. The black 1000 cc bottles have an additional safety ring around the cap. Please take it off before unscrewing. 8. Storage LP-SEPIA in the original bottle should be stored at room temperature.
