2 Shadow & Hilite lithichrome shadow Shadow is the standard method for contrasting monumental lettering and backgrounds. Shadow is compounded in seven tones for ideal contrast for all marble, granite and stone. It is applied by Airmite spray gun, brush, aerosol pressure can. The amazingly efficient Airmite, atomizes Shadow so finely that an extremely small quantity is needed for perfect results making the unit cost surprisingly low. AbrAsive shade shadow If a contrast comparable to blueing with abrasive dust is desired, this is the shade required. Ideal for marble or for any granite. Considerably better lettering legibility than with tedious abrasive blueing, yet completely as natural in appearance Quart TrAnspArenT grey shadow A beautiful natural shadow with no form of ation visible to the eye even when viewed closely. Harmonizes with all granites, regard less of. dark grey shadow Quart Gallon For a darker contrast than the Transparent Grey, yet not opaque. Texture of granite is visible through this Grey. black shadow For maximum contrast. Black Shadow produces a black letter of extreme contrast. A small amount is needed for maximum results. brown shadow Quart Gallon Brown Shadow is preferred by many for pink or brown granites. Not opaque texture of stone is visible. If darker brown is wanted. add Dark Grey or Black to the Brown. blue-grey shadow Quart Gallon Gives a natural blue-grey tone. If less contrast is desired, add Permabond Quart Gallon Quart Gallon DS TECH TIP 13.2 No solvent thinning is necessary for any Shadow for proper spraying consistency. If some in-between is wanted, any Shadow can be mixed with another or with Permabond.

3 Shadow & Hilite lithichrome hilite As with Shadow, Hilite is in use throughout the U.S. and Canadian monumental industry for whitening flashed panel inscriptions and carvings on all kinds and s of polished granites. Applied as intended, Hilite has no visible form of ation apparent to the eye, even when viewed closely Pint Quart Gallon 13.3

4 Shadow & Hilite lithichrome Aerosol Shadow is available in aerosol pressure cans in Black, Grey, Brown, Hilite (white) and Gold only. Since a portion of any aero sol can must be used for the propellent gas, no aerosol can compare with the Airmite for spraying economy. monu-s Aerosol Granite-Pro monu-s shadow is available in 3 popular s : Black, Hilite(white) and grey Gold Black Brown Grey Hilite (white) Clear DS TECH TIP Achieving opaque Black Hilite (white) Grey If an opaque white or black is needed and the application requires aerosol format, please inquire about the Akemi aerosol white and black. Using this product can result in time and money savings. grey shadow Grey Shadow is formulated to be used as either a Light or Dark Grey, as by applying a little more, a darker tone is obtained. Aerosol spray cans 13.4 Before using, rotate the spray head about 1/4 turn. Rotate it occasionally and you will never have a clogged spray head. Never stick a pin or any sharp object in the spray head hole. If clogged, remove spray head and run finger nail through the slot in the base of the spray head. Replace the spray head with a gentle twisting motion. Shake can occasionally to insure proper mixture. After use turn can up side down and the valve pressed for a few moments. This cleans out the atomizer hole leav ing the can ready for use.

5 Colors lithco s (opaque) Lithco s, unlike the shadow products, are a heavier paint that s the stone and are a more viscous opaque coating. These come in Black and White or Chromatic Colors as shown on the Color Reference Chart on page White opaque Pint White opaque Quart White opaque Gallon Black opaque Pint Black opaque Quart Black opaque Gallon DS TECH TIP In applying any Shadow or Hilite two conditions must be observed: 1. Do not hold gun or can so far away that a dry application results. About 8 inches is correct; 2. Do not over apply, this will result in a coating which adheres to stencil when stencil is pulled. If a film is attached to stencil this means inferior adhesion to the stone. Acrylic crystal clear A premium clear coating for added durability and protection. Non-yellowing, moisture-resistant finish Fastest dry - 10 minutes or less. Permanent protection for bare and painted surfaces. Same results as the Lithichrome Aerosol Clear Shadow. Akemi Aerosol s An alternative to the use of gold/silver leaf. Akemi Antique Aerosol is a paint source specifically formulated for use on stone. It's brilliant has been used for lettering. Therefore, it is best to use a non-flammable Naptha (Mineral Spirits) with a KB value of around 36 for cleaning maintenance of s If the s become too thick, this means, some of the solvent has evaporated and must be replaced with Lithco solvent this will maintain the required consistence for application. Although each Lithco bottle is sealed with tape, some solvent will evaporate in time. If s become too thick, this seriously affects their adhesive qualities.

9 Solvent & Lithco Products lithco permabond Permabond is a clear Shadow or Hilite its function being to reduce the tone of any Hilite or Shadow without any reduction in bonding strength. Shadow, as made, is right for the great majority of uses but occasionally less contrast is desirable. Hilite should require no Permabond for a perfect transparent effect but a new user might add some Permabond until he becomes familiar with using the Airmite. It also can be used as a light overcoat for a Shadow Lithipicture as added protection Pint Quart Gallon lithco solvent For cleaning Airmite or airbrush or for removing Hilite, Shadow or Lithco Color (if necessary). Lithco Solvent is the thinner for Lithco Colors if any thinning is needed for spraying. Hilite and Shadow require no thinning for perfect spraying. 10 Solvent & Lithco Products hipolish Keeps Polished Granite Beautiful Always Hipolish is a concentrated sili cone process for enhancing the appearance of polished gra nite for a more lustrous finish and making it imper vious to water Pint Quart Gallon fast mask Fast Mask is a plastic putty-like substance which resists sandblasting when using Shadow in a single process. (Flashing polish from panel AFTER letters have been blown and shadowed). Also ideal for masking Shadow in a one process shape carving. Fast Mask protects the Shadow in letters, as well as protecting the edges of letters. It is applied after the stencil is removed, being easily pressed into letters or carving background with finger or putty knife. It is washed out of letters with water. saw sheen Honed Finish In a Minute. Saw Sheen was developed thirty-four years ago as a specific for transforming sawed ed granite from a dull less material to a ful honed finish in a moment s time. The print to the right shows its function on a Wausau red granite slab. On grey granite it gives a natural contrast comparable to abrasive blueing. Saw Sheen brushes perfectly Shadow poorly. Saw Sheen has many monumental uses for instant contrasting, including lettering Pint Quart Gallon lithco joint And bottom sealer This will eliminate blackened, water soaked markers, and low bases as well as stone exposed to the ground. When applied to the bottom, the bottom is sealed against the acid and alkali solutions found in the earth, and moisture will dry out without staining. The easiest way is to place the Airmite (after use) in a closed vessel containing Lithco Solvent. Have enough solvent in vessel to cover nozzle and material tube only. If this is done, no flushing is necessary. Gasoline or naptha are of no value for cleaning the Airmite, as they will not dissolve s or Shadows
