3 The TEXTECHNO Product range For 60 years Textechno has been one of the leading producers of testing instruments for the textileand chemical fibre industry. The Textechno scope of supply comprises among others well-known and proved automatic tensile testers for yarns (STATIMAT) and fibres (FAVIMAT, FAVIGRAPH), automatic crimp-contraction testers for textured yarns (TEXTURMAT), or dynamic filament-yarn testers for POY, FDY, FOY, DTY, and BCF (DYNAFIL). At the forthcoming TECNOTÊXTIL Textechno will introduce several new and innovative testers: Automatic tensile-, evenness-, and count tester STATIMAT DS The most important properties of yarns are tensile strength and elongation, mass unevenness, and yarn count (linear density). Static tensile testers, yarn evenness testers, as well as various apparatus for yarn count testing, e.g. by means of wrap reel and balance, serve for the assessment of these yarn properties. The use of different test equipment, to which the yarn samples are presented by the operator one after another, results in high expenditure of labour and, especially in case of modern automatic computer-controlled testing equipment, in considerable financial investment. Such shortcomings are overcome by the new STATIMAT DS, which combines testing of tensile properties, unevenness, and count of yarn and thread in one tester. The three tests on each package presented by the package changer are performed in succession. Optionally it is possible to test unevenness and yarn count in one test run, which enables to relate the results of both measurements to the same tested yarn length. A further optional accessory is an optical entanglement sensor to measure interlaces in a multifilament yarn. With regard to testing technology and technical realization the STATIMAT DS offers numerous technical and technological novelties for example a patented new capacitor design for measurement of unevenness, united with a new design philosophy. 4 Automatic tensile-, evenness-, and count tester STATIMAT DS Essential advantages of the STATIMAT DS: Common use of all peripheral components of the tester like package changer, threading mechanism for introducing the yarn sample into the test sections, yarn feeding device, waste yarn disposal, instrument housing with protective front panel, as well as control electronics including the PC-based Textechno TESTCONTROL system for the different test modules built in, which leads to a very economic price of the STATIMAT DS compared to 3 separate testing appliances. The operator has to present the test samples (yarn packages) only to one instead of several different testers, which results in considerable time- and labour savings. All measured data are presented in one test protocol, so that the data can be easily interrelated, for example to calculate tenacity from the measured strength- and yarn-count values. 5 Innovative high-speed weak spot tester DYNAJET Breaking strength is an important characteristic of a yarn with regard to its performance in downstream processing and to the properties of the ready-made fabric. Conventional tensile tests determine the tensile strength average value and coefficient of variation from a relatively small number of measurements on yarn sections of typically 500 mm length. On the other hand, staple-fibre spun yarns inevitably contain so-called weak spots with very low breaking strength, for example thin places, yarn segments with inclusions of foreign matter, or sections with thermal damage, which are normally not detected in such standard tensile tests as they occur in very low numbers over kilometers of yarn length. The concept of the new DYNAJET focuses at detecting such weak spots on the running thread at high speed. For this purpose the yarn passes with up to 1000 m/min through a test section and thereafter through a casablanca type feeding device into a suction orifice. Within the test section the yarn is subjected to a tensile force which remains absolutely constant throughout the test. The level of this tensile force can be freely selected to simulate actual manufacturing process conditions. In case of yarn rupture the tester stops immediately for subsequent rethreading. Beside its very high level of efficiency the test method is characterized by its particular simulation of manufacturing processes. In both cases the yarn runs with high speed into a zone with high tensile stresses, resulting in extremely high rates of loading. The DYNAJET offers to all yarn-producing and -processing units a new and extremely efficient method to measure weak spots in a particular yarn material, and to forecast from this the expected number of yarn breaks in further processing. Such measurements can be an important support to the yarnpurchasing department. On the other hand, knowing the frequency of weak spots can help to adjust manufacturing conditions in order to minimize ends down in the following processes. 6 Fibre length- and strength tester FIBROTEST Fibre length and breaking strength determine to a large extent the processing of cotton fibres into yarns and the properties of the yarn itself. Fibre length measurements according to the FIBROGRAPH system, in which the fibre length is optically measured on a fibre bundle, feature a number of different parameters such as 2.5 percent or 50 percent span length, mean length, etc. Fibre strength is measured on fibre bundles, too. As this bundle strength depends on the thickness of the fibre bundle, precise measurement of strength in g/dtex requires weighing of the fibres between the clamps with high accuracy. Present testing instruments are either purely manually-operated devices for each of the two test methods, or fully automatic "high-volume" test stations requiring calibration with calibration cotton. The new FIBROTEST of Textechno incorporates both fibre length measurement and fibre strength test within the same instrument. Both measurements at first fibre length and thereafter fibre strength are executed in succession. After completing these measurements the sample cross section between the clamps is automatically determined, which enables to calculate the exact and absolute value of tenacity (cn/dtex or psi). In this way problems resulting from the use of "calibration cotton" are absolutely avoided. Operation of the tester is simple and straightforward: The operator prepares the sample with the same type of sample holder as used in other equipment known on the market, inserts the sample holder into the tester, and starts the test. Results for fibre length and strength of one sample are available after less than a minute. The FIBROTEST is worldwide the first instrument which received the ITMF - ICCTM recognition (in 2012). 7 Fibre length tester LENGTHCONTROL LCT The LENGTHCONTROL (LCT) was originally developed by Trützschler and is based on Trützschler technology, Textechno has taken over worldwide marketing of the tester. LCT measures fibre length on a sample taken automatically from a sliver. Beside staple length as the classic test value corresponding to the 2.5 percent span length value of the FIBROGRAPH measurement, LCT delivers further results such as leading and trailing fibre hooks, short-fibre length, short-fibre content, and staple gradient. From those results it is possible to optimize machine settings like cylinder speed and distance of a carding machine, draft ratio in the main draft of the draw-frame, or combing percentage at the combing machine. The tester has a rigid housing on solid castors, which enables operation on the production floor. New features of the LCT are the fibre length measurement on raw cotton material and the determination of neps. TEXTECHNO_TECNOTEXTIL_2013_Products.doc Page: 5/8

8 Besides the above new testers Textechno provides a wide range of well-accepted testing instruments for the textile industry. The STATIMAT ME+ is the standard automatic tensile testing instrument for threads operating on the principle of constant rate of extension (CRE), with a force measuring range of up to 1000 N and a package changer up to 50 positions. It meets the requirements of all important national and international standards. The application range can be extended by using other sample holders for tensile tests on fabrics including Grab tests, seam strength tests, separation force tests, or tongue and tear tests, as well as tests on yarn skeins and other sample forms. The STATIMAT 4U was developed to meet the requirements of tensile testing of very coarse and high-tenacity threads up to maximum strength values of 5000 N. Special features like heavy duty clamps with patented automatically operated bollards and a - likewise patented - rotary clamp to apply a twist to the yarn prior to tensile testing make the STATIMAT 4 unique in the field of automatic tensile testing of threads. STATIMAT 4 is suitable to test even Aramide and high-tenacity Polyethylene yarns delivering maximum strength values. High operational speed is provided by a fast moving threading arm. Like the STATIMAT ME, the STATIMAT 4 has a nip roll feeding device and can be equipped with an AUTOCOUNT unit for automatic yarn count determination. A further model of TEXTECHNO s scope of automatic tensile and linear density testers is the STATIMAT MEL+. Offering a high resolution (10 µn 1mg) load cell this instrument is TEXTECHNO s response to the increasing importance of elastomeric yarns, which according to international standards are to be tested with a pretension of 0.01 cn/tex. Due to it s unique resolution, the STATIMAT MEL is capable of testing both bare Elastane (Spandex) as well as elastic combination yarns with this extremely low pretension leading to correct elongation values. A complete set-up for automatic filament yarn testing is based on the universal filament tester DYNAFIL ME. This tester combines the methods of testing a running yarn at constant extension and testing at constant force in one instrument. This concept, together with a high-temperature heater, yarn delivery rollers operating at up to 1000 m/min, high-resolution force measurement technology, as well as a high-precision pretensioning device, gives rise to a new dimension in yarn testing in the filament yarn field. The most important end-use sectors for the DYNAFIL ME are: Draw-force testing of preoriented or fully drawn yarns Crimp contraction testing of textured yarns Shrinkage testing of yarns of all types TEXTECHNO_TECNOTEXTIL_2013_Products.doc Page: 6/8

9 Two automatic package changer models are available to enable continuous testing of multiple packages. For an even more comprehensive application DYNAFIL ME is completed by the automatic linear density tester COMCOUNT with optional sample preparation for spin finish analysis, a capacitive evenness tester COVAFIL, an optical entanglement test system as well as devices for the measurement of friction and broken filaments. Another well-proved and established crimp and shrinkage tester for yarns is the TEXTURMAT ME+. This instrument measures crimp contraction, crimp module, and crimp stability on hanks of textured yarns based on the German standard DIN 53840, which can today also be regarded as the international standard test method for textured yarns. Another testing procedure of the TEXTURMAT is the shrinkage testing, in which the length change of yarn hanks resulting from dry or wet heat treatment is determined. The measurement is effected fully automatically on up to 30 yarn hanks arranged in a magazine. The same magazine can be inserted into an oven or a hot-water bath for development of the yarn crimp or release of the yarn shrinkage. Efficiency is also an argument in favour of TEXTECHNO s single fibre testers. An outstanding example for this is the automatic fibre test system FAVIMAT+ AIROBOT2. The FAVIMAT+ is the first and only tester to combine four single-fibre test methods in one instrument on the same section of the fibre: Fibre fineness Tensile properties Mechanical crimp properties Geometrical crimp structure The test process can be fully automated by the means of the AIROBOT2 system linked to the FAVIMAT. The AIROBOT system consists of a tensionless storage for up to 500 fibres together with a fully automatic transfer system, which feeds the fibres to the FAVIMAT testing instrument without using pretensioning-weights. Compared to conventional testing equipment, the FAVIMAT-AIROBOT reduces labour time by as much as 95 percent, depending on the type of tests involved. The FAVIMAT can be used to test a wide variety of fibres, including Aramide, UHMPE and Carbon fibres. TEXTECHNO recently succeeded to modify the AIROBOT such way, that test on Carbon fibres can be carried out automatically. Another new application of the FAVIMAT AIROBOT2 is to measure metal-to-metal friction automatically or tensile properties on short fibres down to 3 mm length. 10 TEXTECHNO s solution for those customers, who need only a fast tester for single fibre linear density and tensile properties, is the FAVIGRAPH. The linear density measuring head is arranged adjacent to the tensile test section. An integrated transfer clamp serves to displace the fibre from one to the other measuring system. Therefore, the operator has to insert the fibre manually only once into the linear density test section. After testing the linear density the transfer clamp automatically turns to the tensile test section and places the fibre into the measuring and the draw-off clamp. During tensile testing the next fibre can be inserted into the linear density measuring head, which leads to a considerable increase in testing efficiency. As additional options, tensile tests in wet state as well as fibre bundle strength tests are also possible with the FAVIGRAPH. FIBRESTRESS is a fatigue tester for single fibres or filaments with numerous applications in fibre development and production control (low pilling Polyester fibres, carpet fibres etc.). DRAPETEST, one of the newest developments of Textechno, measures the drapability of technicaland now-crimp fabrics during three-dimensional deformation. The tester automatically determines micro- and macro-defects of a circular test sample and thereby as the first tester worldwide gives important information to the increasing composite industry. ITEMAT+ TSI is Textechno s continuation of the well-known interlace testing instrument. It measures both, number and stability of interlaces, on the running yarn. The ITEMAT+ TSI is available as a stand-alone single yarn tester, but also as test system which can test up to 5 positions simultaneously.
