Eric Vidoni, PT, PhD Research Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology, University of Kansas Eric Vidoni is a physical therapist licensed in Kansas and Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. His research focus is using brain imaging and other techniques to quantify change in our independence for daily activities as we age or develop Alzheimer's. Eric's interest in movement and how we interact with our environment began with his undergraduate coursework, culminating in a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign in After a year of working as a research coordinator studying visual attention at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at Illinois, he resumed his formal education at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. There, Eric entered a joint PT/Ph.D. program to receive both clinical and research training in physical rehabilitation with a particular emphasis on brain function. Under the mentorship of Dr. Lara Boyd, PT, Ph.D., he became interested in how individuals learn new skills. Specifically, his dissertation work explored the role of sensation in learning new movements following brain damage. Because of his dual research and clinical perspectives, he has become interested in the greater role cognition plays in performing daily activities such as bathing, dressing or preparing a meal that are central to the view of ourselves as independent individuals. Graduating in January 2008, Eric joined the KU ADC as a Postdoctoral Fellow. After taking a faculty position in 2010 with the
7 Department of Neurology, Eric was named the assistant director of the KU ADC. He is responsible for promoting KU ADC resources to investigators interested in AD and ensuring that those projects are completed successfully with the help of the center.
