1 Speakers #IoTtrust Nikolaos Isaris Deputy Head of "Internet of Things" Unit DG CONNECT, European Before his current role, Nikolaos Isaris was Deputy Head of the Unit responsible for Future Internet Research and Experimentation. He joined DG CONNECT in 2013 coming from the Directorate-General for Home Affairs, where he was Deputy Head in the Unit "Large-scale IT systems and Biometrics" dealing with IT systems for the Schengen area. Before joining the European, Nikos worked in the private banking and electronic banking sectors in his home country Greece. He holds an MBA with Honours from ALBA, a Master s degree with Distinction in Data Communications and Networks from University College London and a Bachelor s degree in Computer Science from the University of Heraklion in Crete. Jakub Boratynski Head of "Cybersecurity & Digital Privacy" Unit, DG CONNECT, European Among others Jakub Boratyński is involved in the negotiations of recently adopted NIS Directive, implementation of the EU cyber-security strategy's actions on resilience, industrial measures and Research and Innovation under H2020, as well as in the cooperation with the EU Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA). Previously he served as Head of Unit 'Organised Crime and Relations with EMCDDA' at the European (Directorate-General, Home Affairs), which has the lead responsibility for the fight against cybercrime, corruption, sexual abuse of children and confiscation of criminal assets. He has previously worked on EU relations with Russia (Directorate-General External Relations). Before joining the European he was a Director at the Stefan Batory Foundation in Warsaw and Policy Officer with the United Nations High er for Refugees. He graduated from the London School of Economics and the University of Warsaw (international relations, law).

2 Rolf Riemenschneider Head of Sector, "Internet of Things" Unit, DG CONNECT, European Rolf Riemenschneider is involved in the research and innovation programme Horizon 2020 where he manages research and innovation project and policies in the following areas: Advanced Computing, Cyber Physical Systems, Factories of the Future and Internet of Things. From , he managed the ICT activities of the Public-Private Partnership Factories of the Future (PPP FOF). Since 2015, he coordinate the Focus Area of Internet of Things as part of the cross-cutting activities in Horizon 2020 inside CONNECT and with DG MOVE, DG AGRI, DG RTD, and contributes to the future strategy of the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI). Before joining the in 2002 Dr Riemenschneider worked as an engineer for consulting and project management on behalf of the German government (Federal Ministry of Education and Science - BMBF) in the Microsystems programme. Dr Rolf Riemenschneider received the Dipl.-Ing degree from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, in 1990 focusing on microwave technologies and optical communications. Ian Smith Expert IoT Security, GSM Association (GSMA) Ian Smith is a technologist working for the GSM Association which represents the interests of over 800 mobile operators worldwide, and produces industry-leading events such as Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Embedded SIM Specifications. He is currently leading the GSMA s IoT Security project which has recently published a comprehensive set of IoT Security Guidelines. Prior to this Ian led the delivery of the GSMA IoT Connection Efficiency Guidelines and the GSMA Before joining the GSMA, Ian has held senior technical positions within network operators including Hutchison and Orange where he oversaw the design and development of the first commercial 3G handsets and SIM cards. Ian Smith holds a B.Eng. with joint honours in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Aston University, UK. Olivier Lenz Programmes Director, Fédération Internationale de l'automobile (FIA) Olivier Lenz manages the consumer protection activities of the Federation Internationale de l'automobile (FIA) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He supports the Automobile Clubs from the Region I headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The various aspects of mobility policy work extend to connectivity, efficiency and affordability, road safety and environmental protection from consumer perspective. In cooperation with the member organisations he coordinates the advocacy on commonly agreed policies towards external stakeholders, in particular European institutions and private stakeholder interests. He is furthermore responsible for projects and multi-stakeholder co-operations with view to supporting and strengthening the organisation s objectives and strategies. 2

3 Steffen Zimmermann Expert for Industrial Security, Verband Deutscher Maschinen-und Anlagenbau (VDMA) Currently Steffen Zimmermann is Head of Competence Center Industrial Security and managing director Product and Know-how Protection within VDMA. He studied Business Informatics and began his career within German Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) in During his work he founded and still leads several industrial expert committees on IT-Security, Industrial Security and Product Piracy. As a founding member of PlattformIndustrie4.0, Steffen Zimmermann represents VDMA and the engineering industry in the Platform's Security Working Group and is an active member of ISO TC 292 Security and resilience. Steffen Zimmermann is married and has one child. Guy Van Peel Expert Digital Consumption, Belgian Consumner Association (Test- Aankoop/Test-Achats) Since 2015 Guy Van Peel is working as a "digital consumption expert" at Test- Aankoop and Euroconsumers, where he has managed projects to create new print and online services for consumers. He is advocating fairness and transparency in how consumers are approached and serviced when they purchase goods and consume services in an increasingly digital environment, specifically with a focus on privacy and data protection concerns, but also on early obsolescence and sustainability. One of his responsibilities currently involves setting up a security and privacy testing framework for smart (connected) devices, which may be used in the context of joint international tests performed by independent consumer associations across the world. Prior to joining Test-Aankoop, Belgium's largest consumer association, he worked for many years in professional publishing as a product and project manager, overseeing among other things projects to exploit the power of semantic and open data for a better online user experience in online search. Guy Van Peel has a degree in computer and intellectual property law from Leuven University in Belgium. Wolfgang Klasen Head of Research Group "Security for embedded systems", Siemens AG Dr Wolfgang Klasen is responsible Head of Research Group for Embedded Security within Siemens Corporate Technology. He has been active for many years in international research and development projects dealing with definition and realization of IT security architectures and standards for networks and applications. During this work he chaired the Security Working Group of the Multimedia Communication Forum, held the Vice Chair office of the ATM-Forum Security Working Group and contributed with his research team to ITU, ETSI, and the IETF on Multimedia Security. Currently Wolfgang Klasen is active regarding Industrial Security within the German Industrie 4.0 platform, the 3

4 VDMA and ZVEI associations, and is heading the Working Group on Authenticity, Integrity and Trust for Products and Documents within ISO TC 292. Dr Wolfgang Klasen studied Mathematics and Physics in Germany and locations within the USA. He is married and has two children. Dirk Stegemann Competence Segment Owner Safety, Security and Privacy, Corporate Research and Advance Development, Robert Bosch GmbH Dr Dirk Stegemann is currently heading the international competence segment safety, security and privacy within Bosch Corporate Research. He started his professional career as research and teaching assistant at the Computer Science Department, University of Mannheim, Germany. He joined the Bosch Group in 2010 as software specialist IT Security for Bosch Security Systems. In 2014, he became Product Security Officer for Bosch Security Systems, being responsible for information security governance and consulting for the division s product portfolio. From 2015 to 2016, he led the competence segment security and privacy within Bosch Corporate Research. Dirk contributed to ONVIF, the leading industry forum for video surveillance and access control as head of the security and security testing working groups. He is certified ISO Lead Implementer and holds a Diploma in Information Systems as well as a PhD in Cryptography and Information Security and (co-)authored various scientific publications. Lars Reger CTO and Global Head of Business Development for Automotive, NXP Lars Reger is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of NXP s automotive business unit. NXP is the world s largest supplier of automotive semiconductors and driving the market for securely connected, self-driving cars. Focus areas in its portfolio are secure and smart car access, car infotainment, advanced driver assistance systems, in-vehicle networks, body, and safety. As CTO, Lars is responsible for managing R&D and new business activities for NXP Automotive. Prior to joining NXP in 2008, Lars gained deep insight into the microelectronics industry with a strong focus on the automotive sector in various functions with Siemens, Infineon, Siemens VDO and Continental. Before joining NXP, Lars was Director of Business Development and Product Management within the Connectivity business unit at Continental. His past roles at Infineon included Head of the Process and Product Engineering departments, Project Manager for Mobile System Chips, and Director of IP Management. He began his career with Siemens Semiconductors as Product Engineer in Lars holds a university degree in physics from Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn and an executive MBA from London Business School. 4

5 Apostolos Malatras Officer in Network and Information Security, European Union Agency for Network & Information Security (ENISA) He has worked for many years in the industry (Thales Research & Technology, Ltd. UK) and academia (University of Fribourg, Switzerland) and for the last 3 years he has been working for the European, first at the DG Joint Research and currently at the European Network and Information Security Agency. He is the author and co-author of more than 60 research papers and scientific reports. His research interests focus on Internet of Things, security, smart environments, network management, mobile and wireless sensor networks, and communications middleware. He received the BSc in Computer Science from the University of Piraeus, Greece, the M.Sc. degree in Information Systems from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece, and the Ph.D. degree in networking from the University of Surrey, UK 5
