GFTH is the only non-profit in the country known to use 100% of public donations to purchase clothing for the homeless and that is made possible by the fact that all administrative expenses are covered by the individual members of our board of directors. - Bart Epstein, GFTH President ANNUAL REPORT 2015

Our Mission: Helping homeless men, women, and children stay a little bit warmer. We use 100% of public donations to purchase and distribute new clothes to shelters and other organizations serving the homeless in the DC metro area each year. -2-

1 Purchased more than 118,000 items of essential new clothing with a retail value of more than $1million dollars. 2 Delivered approximately 3,100 bags of good used clothing, blankets and household items to homeless support organizations in the DC metro area. 3 Celebrated the 11th Annual Banding Together: The Battle of the Law Firm Bands, which raised approximately $275, Used 100% of the $400,000 received in cash donations to purchase essential clothing & blankets for the homeless individual volunteers and 137 organizations supported GFTH this year. -3-

present GFTH is established by a group of young attorneys in 1986, and incorporates in In its first year it raises $3000 and collects clothes for a local shelter. By 1989, GFTH runs a small used clothing drive and provides clothes to a few local shelters. GFTH collects hundreds of bags of used clothing and raises enough money to provide new clothing to 10 shelters. Inaugural Banding Together event raises $11,000. GFTH provides used clothing to 60 shelters, and hundreds of thousands of new clothing articles to 42 shelters. GFTH provides 3,000-4,000 bags each year of good used clothing and/or new winter clothing with a retail value of more than$1 million to more than 75 shelters. 11th Annual Banding Together raised approximately $275,000. In 1986, a handful of young lawyers in DC ran a used clothing drive at their law firm, collecting a few dozen bags of used clothing. They also collected about $3,000 in monetary donations, which they used to purchase some warm winter clothing from a downtown department store. In December of that year they donated the new and used clothing items to a local homeless shelter. This small initial effort by lawyers seeking to give back to the neediest in the local community marked the beginning of Gifts for the Homeless (GFTH). Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit corporation in 1989, GFTH grew dramatically. More law firms were enlisted to help, and each year GFTH was able to collect more bags of good used clothing, collect more monetary donations for the purchase of more new warm winter clothing, and distribute the new and used clothing to more and more shelters. As GFTH became increasingly successful in its efforts to aid the homeless, it began buying new winter clothing and blankets at wholesale, thereby stretching the dollars collected. Because its Board of Directors covered the organization s modest overhead, GFTH was able to use 100% of every dollar received to purchase the new clothing items. organizations. GFTH delivered donated coats, hats, shoes, bedding, and more to every homeless shelter, soup kitchen and transitional housing facility in the DC metro area (53 in all) that requested these items. In addition, GFTH raised more than $400,000 in monetary donations, enabling it to purchase (at wholesale) almost 119,000 essential winter clothing items coats, knit caps, warm scarves, thermal gloves, thermal socks, sweatshirts, sweatpants, blankets, and more. As always, 100% of every dollar GFTH received was used for these purchases. The retail value of the new clothing items delivered to the shelters this year exceeded $1 million. GFTH has been featured regularly in articles in print and online media including: The Washington Post, The Legal Times of Washington, The Washington Times, Legal Biznow, The Journal of the American Bar Association, and The Current. In addition, Lawyers Working to End Homelessness, a book published by the American Bar Association s Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, includes a chapter exclusively on GFTH -Laurel Glassman, Vice President for Development, GFTH The GFTH Used Clothing Drive is now the largest in the city. This year, with the help of more than 390 volunteers, GFTH sorted more than 3,000 bags of good used clothing collected from 70+ law firms and other

GIFTS FOR THE HOMELESS INITIATIVES USED CLOTHING DRIVE The Used Clothing Drive, which took place December 5-7 at The Portals III, on D Street SW, between 12th Street and 13th Street SW, at a space donated by Republic Property Trust, was a tremendous success. More than 390 volunteers, including many children and families, filled approximately 3,100 large plastic bags with used clothing and other items (such as blankets, bed linens, shoes, and toiletries) and distributed them to 53 Washington, D.C. area shelters. (Certain of the facilities to which GFTH makes deliveries share the used clothing and other items with other small shelters or service providers.) ECHO has been blessed by Gifts for the Homeless for several years. We are grateful for your commitment to assist us in helping those in need in our midst. -Robert F. Diegelman, President of ECHO, Inc. -6-

GIFTS FOR THE HOMELESS INITIATIVES BANDING TOGETHER great local bands rocked the house raising approximately $275,000 for Gifts for the Homeless at the 11th Annual Banding Together event and we used every penny of that money to buy clothing for area shelters. -Walter H. Lohmann, Jr., Vice President Special Events, GFTH On June 18, 2015, GFTH celebrated the 11th Anniversary of its annual fundraising event, Banding Together 2015: The Battle of the Law Firm Bands. The event was held from 7:00 pm to midnight at The Black Cat, an indie-rock music venue in downtown D.C. Eighteen bands competed for the championship before a standingroom-only crowd of more than 1,000. Banding Together raised about $275,000 through sponsorships, at-the-door ticket sales, and contributions from enthusiastic fans during the event. 100% of the proceeds received by GFTH were used to purchase new essential winter clothing items for the homeless in the local community. -7-
