1 About the Authors 559 ABOUT THE AUTHORS Ying Bi is an Assistant Professor of law at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. She holds an LL.B. and LL.M. from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, an LL.D. from Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. She previously worked for the Japanese law firm Soga Uryu & Itoga in Tokyo and researched at Waseda University, Japan as a visiting scholar. Her major research interest covers international trade law and competition law, regional trade agreements. She has published in these areas such as Dumping: Antidumping Law or Competition Law (Intellectual Property Publishing House, 2011), and a series of papers in the well-known academic law reviews including Journal of World Investment & Trade and Manchester Journal of International Economic Law. She may be contacted at: biying@zju.edu.cn Eric Yong Joong Lee is the President of YIJUN Institute of International Law as well as Professor of International Law at Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea. He was also serving as Secretary & Treasurer for the Korean branch of the International Law Association ( ILA ). Dr. Lee obtained his A.B. (political science) and M.P.A. (public policy) from the University of Washington and Seoul National University, respectively. Then, he continued to study international law at Leiden University for LL.M. and completed his Ph.D. in that field under the supervision of Professor Peter Malanczuk at Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Since coming back home, he has taught international law at Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Ewha Woman s University and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Dr. Lee, an analyst of international law based on international relations, is an expert of international organization, international dispute settlement, and inter-korean relations. He is the author of legal ISSueS of Inter-Korean economic CooPeratIon under the armistice SYStem (Kluwer, 2002) and many academic articles including Military Rescue Operation for the Hostages Taken by Somali Pirates: Was the Korean Navy s Daybreak in the Gulf of Aden Legitimate?, 5 J. east asia & Int l l. 2 560 About the Authors Yong Shik Lee is Director of the Law and Development Institute and Distinguished Scholar in Residence and Adjunct Professor at Emory University. He graduated in economics with academic distinction from the University of California at Berkeley and studied law at the University of Cambridge. Author of Reclaiming Development in the World Trading System (Cambridge University Press, 2009), Safeguard Measures in World Trade: The Legal Analysis (Edward Elgar, 2014), and Law and Development Perspective on International Trade Law (Cambridge University Press, 2011), Professor Lee has over sixty scholarly publications in the areas of international trade law and economic development, comparative law, and international commercial arbitration. His recent work has been focused on the impact that domestic and international legal systems, including the legal framework for international trade, has on economic development. He has also developed the concept of microtrade, a new system of international trade designed to alleviate populations of the least-developed countries of extreme poverty. He has recently co-authored and edited a treatise on microtrade, Microtrade: A New System of International Trading System with Volunteerism towards Poverty Elimination (Routledge, 2013). He is currently an associate editor of the Journal of World Trade and the founding editor-in-chief of the Law and Development Review. He may be contacted at: yslee@lawanddevelopment.net Jaemin Lee is currently Professor of Law at Seoul National University School of Law. Dr. Lee went to Seoul National University (LL. B./LL.M./Ph.D.), Georgetown University (LL.M.) and Boston College Law School (J.D.). Upon graduating from Seoul National University s College of Law in 1992, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea as a career diplomat. Dr. Lee served as Deputy Director of the Treaties Division and the North American Trade Division of the Foreign Ministry. Between 2001 and 2005, he practiced law at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP (Washington, D.C. office) as an associate attorney of the firm s international trade group. 3 About the Authors 561 Arina Novizas Shebubakar is a senior legal counsellor at mining private company in Indonesia as well as Ph.D. candidate in law at the University of Indonesia. Arina obtained her Master and Bachelor s degree (quicker than usual) from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law. In 2009, Arina became an Indonesia Legislative Candidate from the Golkar Party in Indonesia. She is also the author of Towards Gender Laws (Menuju Hukum yang Berkeadilan Gender) at Suara Karya (Indonesia Local Newspaper) on April 23, Arina was also the second runner up of Miss South Jakarta 2004 supported by Jakarta Government Tourism. She received her Bachelor s degrees in Law and English Literature from Shandong University in During her study, she participated in a number of moot court competitions, including the 12th Chinese National Round for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the 10th CIETAC International Commercial Arbitration Moot. In 2013, she headed the team from Shandong University that won the championship in the 1st Chinese National Round for the Monroe E. Price International Media Law Moot Court Competition, and represented China at the 7th International Round for the Price Moot Court Competition held at Oxford in She worked as a research assistant and also coordinated the organization of international conferences in Shandong University. After having served as a legal enforcement officer with the Taiwanese Coast Guard, he accepted a research position at the Centre for Marine Policy Studies, Sun Yat-Sen University, Taiwan. While carrying out his Ph.D. research at the School of Law, University of Dundee he was retained as a research assistant and carried out an internship program at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. In August 2007, he was involved in a European project, where he was primarily concerned with promoting and facilitating sustainable port based development and distribution. In 2009, Dr. Chang was appointed at the Shanghai Maritime University

In 2010, he joined School of Law at Shandong University and subsequently became a full professor in His current research focuses on legal governance framework regarding the exploration of marine renewable energy and dispute settlement mechanism. After working for a leading American International Law Firm, Francois set off to start his own legal practice. He now services a broad range of clients, primarily in the areas of business/commercial and immigration law, with a particular interest in cross-border issues involving East Asian countries. He is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, and Canadian Council on International Law. His work has been published in highly prestigious, leading academic journals with a global readership. He is currently completing distant graduate studies in international business law from a private college located in Zurich, Switzerland. She obtained B.A. and M.A. from China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing and Ph.D. in law from UIBE. Dr. Bian was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma of International Law and Organizations for Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She once was a visiting fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, Cambridge. Professor Bian is the Arbitrator of Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, Panelist of the Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Beijing) and Research Fellow of the Center for International Sustainable Development Law (Canada). She was the winner of Anzijie International Trade Research Prize (2006). 5 About the Authors 563 Arindrajit Basu is a 4th Year student pursuing his B.A. LL.B (Hons.) degree at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences ( WBNUJS ) at Kolkata, India. He has a keen interest in Foreign Policy and International Law, particularly in International Humanitarian Law, Cyber Law, Security Studies, International Ethics and Military History. He is currently working as a Researcher for the Cyber Initiative at the Observer Research Foundation ( ORF ), a New Delhi based think-tank specializing in International Relations. He has previously interned at the Secretariat of the Asian-African-Legal Consultative Organization ( AALCO ) in New Delhi. He has also published his works in the Observer Research Foundation, The Network of International Law Students Law Review ( NILS ) and in the Campus Law Centre Law Review, Delhi University. Arindrajit is also a participant in debating at the Inter-Varsity Level and was awarded a scholarship for a one-week study trip to the United Kingdom for winning The Great Debate organized by the British high Commission in India.
