2 Introduction Thank you for purchasing Epic Grand for the Motif XF and MOXF! We believe Epic Grand is one of the most beautiful, realistic, and playable sampled pianos available. It offers eight sampled dynamic levels, carefully mapped for consistent response across the keyboard. Epic Grand has a clear, close-miked sound and a wide stereo image, yet it is also mono compatible. Every note has a generous, natural sounding sustain. Independent sampled damper resonance adds breathtaking lushness to long notes. Release resonance and hammer noises create even more realism as keys are released. Epic Grand offers presets to cover a wide range of musical needs. You ll find dynamic natural tones, sentimental softness, punchy brightness, solo pianos, and layered combinations. Two different bank sizes let you choose between a small memory footprint and generous sample lengths. Bank Sizes Epic Grand includes two banks of sounds 126Mb and 505Mb allowing you to choose how much sample memory you want to use and how much time you want to spend loading. The 126Mb bank (EG_SM.n2.X3A) is ideal for quick loading. This bank features four stereo velocity levels plus true sampled damper resonance, release resonance, and hammer noises. A variety of solo and layered pianos is provided. The 505Mb bank (EG_LG.n2.X3A) provides additional velocities and longer samples, giving a more natural touch response and a more authentic sustain. A single piano in this bank can have up to eight stereo velocities plus true sampled damper resonance, release resonance, and (when enabled) hammer noise samples. A variety of solo and layered pianos is provided. Loading Loading Epic Grand into a Motif XF Before you begin, we recommend you save an All type file to avoid losing any important data. Please see the keyboard owner s manual for details on saving files. To load Epic Grand: First unzip the Epic Grand download file onto your computer s hard drive. You will see two Motif XF format files: one 126Mb file ( EG_SM.n2.X3A ) and one 505Mb file ( EG_LG.n2.X3A ). Use your computer to copy the unzipped file EG_SM.n2.X3A or EG_LG.n2.X3A to a USB flash drive. Connect the flash drive the Motif XF. In File mode, use the data dial to select the file. Then press the Right cursor button to highlight the Type field. Use the data dial to choose "all without system" as the file Type. The Load field allows you to designate where the samples are loaded. The sample data in the Epic Grand file is in the FL1 bank, so you will set the FL1-> parameter. To load the samples to a flash memory board, this parameter should be set to FL1->FL1. If you prefer, you could use the setting FL1->USR to load to RAM (126Mb bank only) or FL1-> FL2 to load to a flash board installed in the second flash board slot. After you have selected the file, designated "all without system" as the file type to load, and set FL1 samples to load to the sample memory of your choice, press SF2 to Load the file. Then press the Inc/Yes button to confirm.

3 You will find Epic Grand sounds at the beginning of the USER 3 bank in Voice and Performance modes. Please Note: If you load the 126Mb bank samples to RAM instead of flash memory, they will not be retained in memory when you turn the keyboard off. You will see two Motif XF format files: one 126Mb file ( EGSM2.n2.X3A ) and one 505Mb file ( EGLM2.n2.X3A ). Use your computer to copy the unzipped file EGSM2.n2.X3A or EGLM2.n2.X3A to a USB flash drive. Connect the flash drive the MOXF. In File mode on the MOXF, press the [F3] LOAD button. Use the [INC]/[DEC] buttons to set the Type parameter to All. Use the Cursor buttons to navigate to the check boxes on the left side of the screen, and use the [INC]/[DEC] buttons to make adjustments to the settings: The box beside with Waveform should be checked. The box beside with System should NOT be checked. Next, use the Cursor buttons to navigate to the right side of the screen and select the file you wish to load. Then press SF1 [EXEC] to load the file. You will find Epic Grand sounds at the beginning of the USER 3 bank in Voice mode and the beginning of the USER 2 bank in Performance mode.
