2 ABOUT THE SHOW Set in Ne York City at the turn of the tentieth century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of ack Kelly, a charismatic nesboy and leader of a ragged band of young nesies ho dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets But hen publishing titans oseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the nesboys expense, ack finds a cause to fight for and rallies nesies from across the city to strike for hat s right With help from the strong and feisty female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of Ne York City soon recognizes the poer of the little man NEWSIES is inspired by the real-life Nesboy Strike of 1899, hen a band of orphan and runaay children took a to-eek-long action against nespaper publishers Pulitzer and Hearst THE PERFECT MUSICAL FOR OUR TIMES!
