1 BRITISH VALUES PRICE GUIDE All prices are in U.S. dollars British Coin Values is a comprehensive retail value guide of British coins published online as a part of World Coins. The values are provided as a reader service to collectors desiring independent information about a coin s potential retail value. Sources for pricing include actual transactions, public auctions, fixed-price lists and any additional information acquired by the World Coins valuing analyst. (Note: Dealer buy prices are wholesale valuations. Published buy prices in no way guarantee that a particular dealer will buy a coin at a published buy price. Therefore, certain coins in this valuing section, especially some of the esoteric items, may differ greatly from advertised buy prices, both higher and lower.) Market conditions, supply, demand and rarity are key considerations. Values are listed for coins that are strictly graded in each grade category according to the current market standard. Cleaned, whizzed, damaged or otherwise altered coins bring less value than posted World Coins listings. World Coins uses the European system of Fine, Very Fine, Extremely Fine, Uncirculated, Choice Uncirculated and Proof to describe the condition of a coin. On the 1 to 70 scale now in common usage by third-party grading services, dealers and auction houses in the United States, these grades would be approximately equivalent to: Fine: About F-12; Very Fine: About VF-20 to VF-35; Extremely Fine: About EF-40 to EF-58. Unc refers to an Uncirculated or Mint State coin in condition MS-60 to MS-64, Ch. Unc refers to a coin in condition MS-65 and higher. In grading, Proof is used to denote a method of manufacture, and here refers to a Proof coin in Choice condition. Bullion sensitive coins based on spot price of gold at $1,290 per ounce and silver at $20 per ounce. KEY TO LISTINGS BV... Bullion value EEC Entry into European Economic Community ExR...
