3 Welcome to the 2018 Edition of the Augusta Health Provider Directory. Included is a listing by specialty for all providers affiliated with Augusta Health. We trust this will be useful in finding new providers and specialists, identifying practice locations and determining contact information for members of the Augusta Health Medical Staff. Providers join our staff at all times of the year, so please check the Augusta Health website ( www. augustahealth.com) for the most up-to-date provider roster. Augusta Health has experienced tremendous growth in The davinci Xi surgical robotics program has exceeded expectations in its first year, with many general surgery, urology and gynecology procedures now being performed with the robot. Augusta Health is providing full-time thoracic surgery services with the addition of Dr. Miguel Aguinaga to Augusta Medical Group (AMG), and has seen the expansion of general surgery services with the opening of a new, five-surgeon practice, Augusta Health Surgery. Primary care continues to grow; Staunton Medical Associates has become part of AMG, and Dr. Frank Johnson has joined Drs. Alexander and Pitsilos at Staunton Medical Associates. Augusta Health is very pleased to reopen our Churchville practice location with the addition of Dr. George Tran, and new providers have joined Staunton and Waynesboro practice locations as well. Augusta Health is pleased to provide these expanded medical services as we strive to fulfill our mission to be the best community hospital in Virginia Augusta Health facilities also continue to be expanded, enhanced and renewed. The long-anticipated expansion of the Augusta Health Emergency Department is well underway; the Crossroads Behavioral Health Unit has been renovated to improve patient experience and safety; the Intensive Care Unit has been renovated and expanded, and the new Augusta Health Specialty Clinic in Lexington is nearing completion. The staff, physicians, advanced practice professionals and leadership of Augusta Health are all excited about the future and our role in improving the health of our community. 5 A Community Hospital, A Hospital Community An overview of Augusta Health our campus, our history, our plans for the future. Since opening its doors in 1994, Augusta Health, an independent and community-owned health system, has focused on bringing high quality healthcare close to home while fulfilling its mission to improve the health and well-being of our community through access to excellent care. Key services provided by Augusta Health to the community include: A Cancer Program, part of the Duke Cancer Network, that has full cancer accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer with additional recognition as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Cancer Center provides chemotherapy, infusion services and state-of-the-art radiation therapy along with the supportive services that make it a truly comprehensive cancer center: a dedicated dietitian, a social worker and support groups, an onsite pharmacy and navigators (nurses who are themselves cancer survivors) to help patients through their journey. A Heart & Vascular Center that provides high quality diagnostic and therapeutic care angioplasty and stenting, cardiac catheterization, cardiac stress testing, non-invasive testing (EKG, Echocardiograms and Dopplers), electrophysiology (ablation, pacemakers, treatment and management of atrial fibrillation), cardiac rehab and full-service cardiology care and management. A Robotic Surgery Program that offers minimally invasive surgery in areas such as urology, gynecology, colorectal surgery and general surgery. Advantages of robotic surgery are fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, less pain and blood loss and a quicker recovery for patients. A patient-focused Joint Center that provides total knee and total hip replacement with excellent patient outcomes. An employed physician group, Augusta Medical Group, with primary care and specialty physician offices throughout Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County as well as Lexington and Crozet. One practice, Workplace Wellness, provides occupational health services in office and onsite at businesses. Four Urgent Cares: in Staunton, Stuarts Draft, Waynesboro and Weyers Cave, providing care every day. A Fitness Center, a robust rehab and therapy division, Hospice of the Shenandoah, and the Augusta Health Sleep Center also provide needed services to the community.
