For over 35 years, Rustic Natural Cedar has brought to market long-lasting furniture, carefully crafted from natural Northern White Cedar. Northern White Cedar is the superior choice for furniture because of its beauty, practicality, and durability. The Northern White Cedar (Thuja Accidentalis) used in our Cedar Looks furniture collection is a creamy white color that weathers gracefully to a silvery gray when left untreated. All Rustic cedar items may be used indoors or out, and may be painted or stained as desired. Cedar is naturally resistant to decay and insect damage. Because of this characteristic, cedar is frequently used for fencing and siding on homes, and is the ideal choice for outdoor furniture and garden items. Cedar is a very light wood (19 pounds per cubic foot) and is easy to work with. It will not shrink or warp as do many other woods commonly used for furniture and garden products. It is also uncommonly smoothsurfaced, making it more attractive than other woods. All cedar log furniture undergoes a normal process, called checking. Checking or slight cracking through the outer growth rings happens as wood naturally expands and contracts to release moisture. It doesn t affect the structural performance or integrity of the wood.
