4 S&T News SAP Virtualizes Create even more value with the SAP system. S&T offers its customers the chance to virtualize SAP. Virtualization allows system resources to be deployed exactly where they are needed at any point in time. It only takes a few minutes to create a redundant mapping of the SAP environment for test purposes or migration projects. Administration and operational costs are also reduced to a minimum as a result. Overall, a virtualization of SAP provides greater efficiency by virtue of improved utilization and greater stability at lower costs. At the same time, virtualization allows greater operational quality with less hardware. Furthermore, flexibility is increased with respect to software deployment and upgrading - which is of considerable importance considering the massive continuing development of SAP applications. 5 News Focus Three Top Events Great offers in Romania. The Customer Concept Center (CCC) in Bucharest provides specialist knowledge and support for business-critical infrastructure solutions. In the second half of 2008 and in early 2009 their focus will be on: Green IT, primarily relating to HP PowerSaving and virtualization High availability and simplicity of servers and storage: bladed environment automatic data centre, next generation storage (Virtual Library System, de-duplication, Data Protector, PolyServe) Computing centre security: security with HP BCS, data security and scenarios for automatic fail safes. S&T operates a SAP Infrastructure Solutions Competence Center (CC) in Slovakia which promotes the benefits of joint EMC², IBM and S&T solutions in particular for SAP customers. The CC in Žilina is specialized in Enterprise Content Management solutions, SAP running on IBM infrastructure and more secure infrastructure for SAP customers. IBM supports S&T with the development of solutions and applications with which SAP users can visualize, virtualize and integrate in order to gain maximum benefits from their IT investments, promises Bob Moore, Director of the Computer Services Industry, IBM North-eastern Europe (second from left in the picture above). Gourmet Cooperation S&T provides service for the Pizza Hut chain in Poland. S&T has a sensational 15-year history of providing all 38 Pizza Hut restaurants in Poland with comprehensive IT services. The contract, which ranks among the longest-running continuous service contracts in the Polish IT market, was recently extended. The service technicians from S&T cater for the ongoing servicing of hardware and software. Furthermore, they provide trai- ning for IT staff, support the introduction of new solutions and applications, and give advice during procurement of new equipment and software. AmRest 05

One of the first succesful applications for the center was the EMC Proven solution for the Microsoft Exchange environment. It is designed to reduce the administrational complexity and resulting costs in each phase of the life cycle, and can also cope with rapid increases in volumes. Other cost saving features inside IBM DB2 are Data Compression, Database Partitioning Feature (DPF), Multi Dimensional Clustering (MDC), High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) and many more. The unique features DPF and MDC allow clients to realize a significant overall performance increase for their SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence solutions due to data access being processed in parallel on multiple partitions. DB2 Compression which is also unique to DB2 and tightly integrated with SAP applications compresses databases typically between 30 and 55% (numbers based on customer tests and installations) and helps dramatically reduce storage costs while also boosting SAP system performance. Both aspects of compression help to optimize IT resource usage and lower total costs of ownership. When is a good time for SAP customers to migrate to DB2? RW In general you can always start a migration project as customers have seen that the ROI can be achieved within the second year. The technical effort and the downtime during a migration are small. However if a customer can combine a planned Unicode conversion and/or SAP ERP upgrade project with the database migration he leverages synergies especially for the testing effort and can minimize the cost for moving to DB2. Numerous SAP customers all over the world already realize the benefits of DB2. In focus: Ralf Wagner Ralf Wagner is taking responsibility as worldwide SAP Alliance Executive for the IBM Information Management brand. Before this role he was Sales Leader for SMB and Channels for IBM Information Management in North- and Eastern Europe. Wagner came to IBM in 2001 with the aquisition of Informix. At Informix he was Manager Channel Sales since 1996 for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 46 year old Wagner started his career in 1988 at NCR and AT&T.

8 Success Stories Virtual Worlds S&T has already carried out more than 100 virtualization projects e.g. for ORF, Vitana and Leder&Schuh. Up to 130 virtual servers were recently operated at Austria s ORF media corporation despite only six appliances physically being installed. S&T was responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of the complete harmonization project and realized the assignment in partnership with ORF specialists. In addition, five SAP servers and all SAP applications, as well as almost all the Microsoft server services and the Blackberry and Oracle tools, were all virtualized. This has resulted in ORF reducing hardware and operational costs and significantly increasing the accessibility of its IT systems. Furthermore, the IT department can now more rapidly and flexibly react to current requirements, quickly install new servers, carry out adaptations and increase system stability. ORF project leader Markus Wirgler: We were easily able to reach our goals of greater flexibility, improved performance, increased system stability and reduced procurment and administrational costs. As well as the virtualization, S&T seamlessly integrated the new servers into the existing Microsoft Operations Manager servermonitoring system. We don t just provide the necessary knowledge and skills for infrastructure, consolidation and virtualization, but also combine systems from a range of manufacturers, explains Georg Komornyik, Region General Manager at S&T DACH. The complete transformation was implemented without disturbing day to day operations continued undisturbed. As part of a harmonization project, the storage systems were modernised, 30 servers were virtualized and a new and powerful Reduced costs, higher productivity and shortened supply times From 38 servers to just 3: that s the result of virtualization at the Czech foodstuffs manufacturer Vitana. The simplifi cation of the IT infrastructure at Vitana, carried out by the Czech S&T, has led to considerable fi nancial savings as well as increased productivity. We selected the virtual platform as our existing server structure was too complex and our IT personnel basically collapsed under the weight of the administrational efforts required, comments Michal Horak, IT Operations Manager at the owners of Vitana, the Norwegian multi-national Rieber&Son. Also, many of the numerous servers were coming to the end of their life cycles anyway, which led to unncessary servicing costs on our budget. Vitana also wanted a modern IT infrastructure in order to fulfi ll the future needs of a dynamic international business. The server virtualization will continue in the future too. We are planning to deploy 23 virtual servers running on 3 physical servers, explains Horak. During the consolidation of the servers a number of them will be decommissioned, while others will be transferred to other locations. 08

9 Success Stories ORF S&T DACH harmonized the server infrastructure at ORF, the largest media corporation in Austria. backup strategy was introduced. Leder&Schuh can now profit from the improved performance and increased flexibility of its IT infrastructure. The order volume was 550,000 euros. Hubert Petz, CPIO at Leder&Schuh, comments: IT is comparable with the nervous system. When a leg no longer functions, the whole body limps. Think about a runner, for whom every second counts. He certainly can t win a race, maybe he won t even compete any longer. In the sort of competitive market that we have one needs to be able to react just as flexibly and quickly! Last but not least, in another project S&T completely migrated the server environment at Energie AG Oberösterreich to a virtual VMWare infrastructure in three successive phases. As well as enormous cost benefits, the project also provides greater flexibility, higher speed and primarily an improved utilization of the server. In the first phase, two physical servers were acquired and installed, and formed the foundation for around 70 virtualized servers. In phase two of the implementation, in 2005, a further two systems were purchased and the virtualization expanded to 100 servers. Phase three of the project also saw the arrival of two physical servers, and the virtualization of approximately 140 servers was concluded. The VMWare installation at Energie AG is one of the largest in Austria. It includes 48 CPUs and approximately 140 virtualized servers. The server environment created forms the basis for all future server expansions, says Georg Komornyik, Region General Manager at S&T DACH. We are very satisfied with this project, which has already been worthwhile due to the resulting savings achieved, explains Jürgen Kehl, who is responsible for the computing centerat Energie AG. The costs for server space, air conditioning, power and data connections alone have all been reduced significantly. And we certainly make much better use of our servers than we ever did before! 09

In 2005 the company was taken over by the Austrian Mobilkom/Telekom Austria Group. S&T realised Bulgaria s fi rst Disaster-Recovery/Business- Continuity project for Mobiltel as early as 2003, and were also commissioned to implement the Multi-Hop-Data-Recovery-Network. With this storage system, in the Star confi - guration, we are setting new standards, enthuses Simeon Dimitrov, Head of Enterprise Resource Management at Mobiltel. In Bulgaria there are no other such modern and complex systems of this type! The project, which was initiated in 2007 and was recently completed, includes memory replication using an EMC²-Symmetrix-DMX-3 architecture. This offers Mobiltel maximum fl exibility and considerable scaleability at the same time as optimum performance. High data availability is also ensured, as well as seamless integration with other applications, such as SAP and Oracle. The ever-increasing numbers of attacks on companies and their ICT facilities are driving the strong demand for IT security. The Security Competence Center in Budapest, established in cooperation with Cisco, therefore focuses on the development of security solutions as well as on the setup and enhancement of skills and know-how transfer within the whole S&T group. The Competence Center, led by Peter Szabo and equipped with comprehenive demo facilities, specializes primarily in the following Cisco offerings 1) Firewall Solutions, 2) VPN Solutions, 3) Intrusion Prevention Systems and 4) Monitoring Analysis & Response Systems. 16 Market of the Future Top Tip - Managed Services The demand for Managed Services is increasing. Businesses profit from lower costs and greater flexibility. Ever increasing numbers of businesses are transferring the management of parts of their IT infrastructure to reliable partners such as S&T. The advantages with this approach are the greater operating efficiency achieved and the technological flexibility. At S&T, the revenues from this field of business increased significantly in 2007 by 16% to 86.5 million euros. By 2010 S&T aims to acquire 60% of the total group turnover from the provision of IT consulting and services. Two years ago, S&T Poland took over the customer service assignments at 2000 Xerox Systems in Poland. Also in Poland, S&T takes care of the self-service checkouts at four Auchan hypermarkets. The three year contract gives S&T responsibility for the installation, integration and servicing of all related applications and appliances, including IT systems, checkouts, stock, payment transactions and printers. S&T established a new data processing center for ISS Facility Services in Austria, and has signed a three-year contract for the hardware maintenance. In addition, S&T is responsible over the next five years for the handling of IT facilities for 450 workstations, as well as 140 printers, at 51 locations. The SPAR retail chain has also commissioned S&T to operate and service the point of sale systems at around 800 stores. SPAR will save up to 70% of its previous costs for these operations by virtue of the three-year Managed Services contract, as well as being able to provide a higher quality of service. Managed Services for OMV Mr. Worlicek, OMV partially outsourced the responsibility for Desktop Services and infrastructure management in 14 countries to S&T. Why did you choose S&T as partner of OMV Global Solutions, the OMV internal IT service provider? Christian Worlicek (CW) The fact that S&T is represented in most of the regions in which OMV is present made it a favorite at an early stage. During the tender negotiations we placed great importance on a personal relationship with our future partners. For which distinct areas is S&T now responsible? CW The long-term management of our client IT infrastructure operations is now mainly in the hands of S&T. This includes the remote and in-situ rectification of any problems, as well as telephone support. S&T also provides us with an IT Service Desk with local language support. In total we are talking about approximately 6,000 IT workstations and more than 10,000 peripherals, such as printers, cellular phones, data cards, hand held appliances Christian Worlicek, etc. These are distributed amongst OMV Solutions GmbH. around 10 main branch offices, each with more than 500 IT workstations, 15 further large branch offices. Hundreds of home offices and filling stations, as well as dozens of smaller branch offices. What goals have you attained with this project? CW We want to offer the best service at the best price. In partnership with S&T, we can put this into practice. Thanks to the clear and comprehensible price structure there is a high degree of cost transparency. 18 S&T Country Review This Market is Growing Fast In Ukraine, S&T implements most technologically advanced IT-solutions and ranks among largest system integrators. After Russia, Ukraine is the largest country in Europe in terms of surface area, and has been independent since According to the IDC, the IT services market in Ukraine will grow by 21.6% in 2008, which is the most rapid development of any S&T country. For the whole IT market in Ukraine the IDC experts forecast growth of 19.7% in 2008, admittedly with still fairly low absolute volumes. This highly interesting market offers considerable potential growth over the coming years until it reaches Western European levels, comments S&T CEO Christian Rosner. We have been active in Ukraine since 1993 and are playing a role in shaping the market there. Ultra-modern data centers Due to rapid corporate development, the expansion of the service portfolio and the continuous optimization of services, the national telecommunications provider Ukrtelecom required powerful and modern data centers. S&T and Microsoft Ukraine therefore planned and established six powerful data centers with the goal of reducing costs and modernizing infrastructure. One functions as the primary center and the other fi ve are regional centers located in Ukraine s largest cities. In total these provide support to more than 30,000 internal users at Ukrtelecom. Amongst other things, in 2008 S&T Ukraine implemented the largest DWDM network in the country for Kyivstar. It took us only six weeks to completely replan and implement the IT infrastructure for the insurance company PROVIDNA, explains Managing Director Iurii Lysetskyi. Without obstructing daily operations, a modern IT system was installed that provides optimal support for PROVIDNA s growth strategy and can be flexibly adapted to future requirements. In 2006, S&T implemented the first CIS commercial WiMAX network for Ukrainian High Technologies, one of the largest mobile broadband Internet access providers in the country. Furthermore, S&T has been supporting for many years the State Export- Import Bank of Ukraine with upgrades of their IT infrastructure. Telepresence, the virtualization of computing centers and Webex are three innovative products, and many more will follow in the not-too-distant future. KT There is an increasing demand for seamless solutions spanning all corporate fields and national borders, as well as for everything as a service.
