Considering the globalization of economy that prevails now placement is an important activity of every institution. The Placement Brochure provides the recruiters an insight about qualities of education imparted and expertise of our students relevant to the employer s recruitments. Though the school of Technology is in its infant stage it has the capability to become a centre of excellence in the years to come. We are aware of you and your standing in the fields of Engineering, Science and Technology and would deem it a great privilege if you would please accept our invitation. Do visit us with your colleagues, to help us in evaluating our performance and take advantage of interacting with the many bright young minds here, to guide and place them in various avenues in Industry. When we ask many of our students, who come here from all over the country and particularly from the region, what attracts them to the school, the response always has been our growing reputation as an academic leader in the field of Technology, Science and Engineering in the North East. The pristine beauty of the NEHU campus is an excellent place where intellectually,ideas can interect and flower. Our students enjoy the sylvan beauty of green campus covered with forests of pines.our School of Technology complex is strategically located and has well laid out classrooms,making it a vibrant and dynamic place,convenient for facilitating the learning needs of our students. Our programs provides hands on experience in more than a dozen areas of technology, seeking innovative solutions to challenges in such emerging areas as Nanotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Energy Engineering in addition to the Well Known Information Technology,Electronics And Communication fields. Educating students is part of our fundamental mission. While working with them, we have discovered in many cases their education, has to stretch beyond the classroom and prepare them for carriers and professional life.while our programmes are regorous,adaitional professionals and personal growth results from experiences outside the classroom such as in projects, in plant trainings, clubs and competitions. Acquiring new skills are the order of the day and only a person willing to learn can see the problems and challenges in their right perspective and offer lasting, sustainable and comprehensive solutions. 5 At School of Technology, we believe that just being a pragmatic is not enough.one must understand topics at the conceptual level and be able to make the practical implementations of these. Apart from the sound technical skills, which the student acquire, they are made to face diverse challenging situations, which incorporate in them valuable attributes like team building, leadership, excellence and work ethics. They are also made to practice entrepreneurial and managerial skills at grass root level. We recognize the strength of our method of education, in providing ample placement avenues in the industries. Our placement cell has been actively involved in creating and developing positive views in our prospective Engineers. We strive hard to transform the talent pool with the help of experts in the respective areas to meet the expectation of industries. Apart from the continuous training programme in soft skills and aptitude, our alumni are invited to guide their juniors to become industry ready. Experts from many companies are also invited for the technical guest lectures, to bridge the gap between curriculum and technological advancements in industries and thereby improve the employability of the students. Many well-known companies have visited our campus for conducting recruitment drives. Our school has excellent infrustructure facilities to support such joint recruitment drives. With this kind of background and training, our graduates can look forward to careers in well-known technology firms, in government organizations, businesses and universities in this country and abroad. 6 From the Desk of Incharge, CPC In present day scenario, placement has emerged as one of the main parameters for the evaluation and success of an educational Institute/University. To provide skilled and qualified manpower to the industry, we recognize need for strengthening our methods of providing education and overall skill development in line with current needs of the industry and country as a whole. The placement cell at NEHU has been actively involved in creating and developing skilled manpower as per need of the industry.moreover, the students are exposed to challenging research based academics and host of sports, cultural and organizational activities on its ever growing and vibrant campus. In the changing contemporary context, the School of technology at NEHU needs a shared vision for creating ecological literate, professionally competent and socially responsible engineers. 7 About The University North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1973 with the aim of disseminating and advancing knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in the streams of learning and emphasize on the promotion of social and economic conditions and welfare of the people residing in the hilly areas of the North-Eastern region. It is the only one university in the north east that has been accredited with A grade for its all-round excellence by the UGC-NAAC. In 2006, it has been chosen as a University with Potential for Excellence by the UGC. 18 How To Reach Shillong By Bus Shillong Bus stand is located at the city center and regular Bus services are available. MTC,ASTC and private Buses along with private sumo and car services provides a smooth transportation to Guwahati and other parts of the North East. By Train The nearest railway station is Guwahati. It is 104 km from Shillong and very well connected with all major cities of India. By Air Shillong airport at Umroi connects to Kolkata. Guwahati is the nearest major airport which is nearly 128 km away from Shillong. Helicopters are also available from Guwahati to Shillong and Shillong to Guwahati on week days.
