Cumberland, England, four additional children of Robert and Sophia (Haywood) McMurray [Margaret, Daniel, William and Sophia] did not survive to immigrate to America. Two children, Robert and a 2 nd Margaret, survived to immigrate. The 2 nd Margaret married in Alabama a professor and scientist, F.A.P. Barnard, who later became Chancellor of University in MS. With help from Southern friends, they escaped from MS to D.C. where he met with Pres. Lincoln. Later he became President of Columbia College in NYC.
