Unique uses for Lattice Foundations Step 1. t s make a gazebo because once you ve done this with the lattice foundation tool, everything else you make will be as simple as using the same format. Place a 6x6 square of either lattice foundation or plain foundation. I am using lattice here. Page - 1 -
Step 2. Place wall along the outer edge of your foundation. Note: You don t have to have foundations to make this work. I am just using it because I like the look of steps on a gazebo. Page - 2 -
Step 3. Place lattice foundation as though it were flooring for a 2 nd floor. Page - 3 -
Step 4. Place wall in a 2x2 square centered on top of the foundation (like a tiny 2 nd floor room). Page - 4 -
Step 5. Place lattice foundation on top of this level. Page - 5 -
Step 6. Remove all the walls on the 2 nd floor. Note: Anywhere there is a wall section you will not have lattice, for example, you would leave a section or sections of wall so that you can add doors, windows, etc. Page - 6 -
Step 7. Place the foundation over the previously laid foundation. Isn t that nifty!?! So far, so good; let s keep going. Page - 7 -
Step 8. Remove ONLY the walls that will be filled in with lattice foundation. I know, it looks strange, but trust me, this is going to work. Page - 8 -
Step 9. Re-cover the floor with foundation. It still doesn t look right but we re getting there. Page - 9 -
Step 10. Remove the 4 corners using your angled foundation tool. And do the same with the ground level foundation corners. Page - 10 -
Step 11. Wow, looking more like the end product. Now add hipped roof 4-sq.Wide and 6-sq.Deep. Now do the same in the other direction. You can also use the new octagonal roofs. Page - 11 -
Step 12. Add a 2x2 sq. of hipped roof to the top. Page - 12 -
Step 13. Remove all the remaining walls. Note: If you want doors, windows, or wallpaper keep the walls and add those features. Page - 13 -
Step 14. For the finishing touches, put wooden stairs and fencing in whatever positions you want and decorate. Okay, it bugs me to see green grass under an enclosed area, so I put NearDirt 2000 underneath the floor. Also, a light in the upper cupola adds some nice nighttime character to your gazebo. You can also start with the solid foundation on the bottom and add wallpaper and flooring as you please. Page - 14 -
Step 15. This method works great for just about any building you want. For example a child s play house, a porch, a garden shed or anything you can imagine simply by following the same steps. Important information: 1) The key is to leave a section or sections of wall so that you can add openings, doors, windows, etc. 2) Another thing to remember is that this method works and looks great without placing a ground-level foundation. 3) The Lattice foundation wall will NOT drop when you lower walls. 4) This house can be found on TSR under the title Lattice Living. Thanks for reading this tutorial. I ll leave you with a couple examples of different lattice foundation uses: Garden Shed Porch Page - 15 -
