VISULAS Trion Treatment flexibility to the power of three Multicolor Photocoagulation Laser
Carl Zeiss: A pioneer in retinal therapy For many years, Carl Zeiss has fostered a culture of highest precision, quality and innovation in optical engineering, including in the field of retinal therapy and photocoagulation. Following the first photocoagulation procedure ever, performed on the roof of a German eye clinic using the sun s natural light, Carl Zeiss soon entered into a close relationship with the most brilliant clinicians of the time to develop the world s first commercial coagulator in 1956. VISULAS Trion Engaged with all of the senses 2
Performance Combining optimal power with safety and stability The VISULAS Trion is designed to provide eye doctors of various disciplines and backgrounds optimum flexibility for a broad spectrum of retinal therapies. A performance class of its own In terms of sheer laser power, the VISULAS Trion sets entirely new standards. Even when alternating between short laser shots and large beam diameters, its power reserves continue to allow for reliable treatment outcomes. In fact, its performance capabilities in the red and yellow wavelengths for example, to treat inhomogeneous media are truly spectacular. Stable and reproducible outcomes With its meticulous laser parameter stability, the VISULAS Trion is the system of choice for reliable and reproducible retinal therapy in clinics that handle large patient volumes. With the VISULAS Trion, you can virtually treat as many patients as you want, as long as you want without performance fluctuations.
Just the right color for every case Depending on the diagnosis, the VISULAS Trion allows you to conveniently select between green, yellow and red wavelengths for the most efficient treatment. In terms of penetration depth, optical density and absorption behavior of the light passing through the ocular media, the VISULAS Trion has the capability to always offer the smoothest treatment alternative. Green the gold standard in retinal photocoagulation Green laser light is primarily absorbed by the retinal pigment melanin, and is therefore well suited for a variety of treatment applications in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) region. This primarily applies to pan-retinal photocoagulation (PRP) therapy. Yellow minimally invasive vessel sealing Yellow laser light possesses the highest absorption level for retinal hemoglobin when compared to green and red wavelengths. With its characteristic penetration depth, it offers an efficient and smooth alternative to sealing retinal vessels. It also more effectively penetrates inhomogeneous media such as moderate cataracts. Red deep penetration for choroidal lesions Red laser light is not absorbed well by hemoglobin. It therefore easily penetrates moderate vitreous hemorrhages. Its penetration depth is ideal for selectively treating choroidal vessels, without coagulation of retinal vessels. 4
Carl Zeiss Meditec continues to uphold a long-standing tradition of technological excellence and clinical competence in retinal diagnostics and therapy. This level of dedication has now culminated in the development of the VISULAS Trion, a powerful and compact multicolor solid-state laser designed for smooth retinal applications. Highly precise laser guidance and treatment accuracy. Highly flexible and reliable in daily clinical practice. Highly convenient and intuitive operation. In short: the VISULAS Trion, an exceptional retinal therapy system. Fully engage the retinal pathologies of your patients. Our endless commitment to technological excellence, in-depth understanding of clinical requirements and awareness of our customers needs are the driving forces behind all of our ideas. Performance programmable settings with optimal power and stability Precision highly accurate positioning through extremely sensitive control Productivity flexible utilization for efficient clinical workflows Patient Care individual and gentle treatment for every patient 5
Precision Focused on the essentials With its patented electronic micromanipulator, the VISULAS Trion allows for fast, safe and highly accurate beam guidance. Slightly turned, for example, and the treatment position is set. Various system parameters can be adjusted at the push of a button. The beam is always centered in the illumination field, providing you with a comprehensive view of the treatment region. Navigation at your fingertips A color touch driven control panel allows for convenient and intuitive operation of the VISULAS Trion. With its PowerPress TM button, key laser parameters are quickly and precisely adjusted. Selecting a new wavelength and power parameters for the next patient is practically right at your fingertips. Safe laser positioning Thanks to its patented electronic micromanipulator the VISULAS Trion permits highly accurate guidance of the beam and slit lamp illumination simultaneously. The target beam position is always centered in the treatment beam field. However, it can still be variably controlled in the slit lamp illumination field. The micromanipulator is located directly on the slit lamp joystick, enabling fast, controlled and precise beam guidance for efficient and pinpoint treatment applications. 6
A precise view of everything Equipped with the ACCENTO eyepiece*, the VISULAS Trion lets you continuously monitor treatment critical parameters such as laser power and shot count, while never losing sight of the targeted morphology. Hands-free power adjustments The addition of the ACCENTO footswitch* enables you to make convenient power adjustments without disturbing your view of the retina. After diagnosing the target region, the system intuitively assists you with changing power parameters as needed. ACCENTO eyepiece allows you to keep a sharp eye on the target region and current power setting. 260 mw Conveniently making power adjustments with the ACCENTO footswitch* * Option Green: effectively coagulates photoreceptor and RPE Yellow: carefully coagulates closer to the macula Red: precisely coagulates outer retina through hemorrhages 84 7
Productivity Portable. Flexible. Powerful. In a word: efficient. In many eyecare facilities, lasers are frequently used by a large number of different specialists: for example, in the OR, to treat hospitalized patients or for outpatient retinal consultations. Thanks to its intelligent design, the VISULAS Trion is ideally suited for all of these applications, and for multi-user facilities in general. Quickly switching treatments With its dual illuminated fiber ports, the VISULAS Trion lets you quickly and easily switch from one connected treatment system to another: for example, from a ZEISS slit lamp to an indirect ophthalmoscope, or from an OR endoprobe to an indirect ophthalmoscope with a few simple clicks on the touch screen. Fully integrated into the slit lamp In mobile physician safety filter mode, the ZEISS slit lamp and illuminated beam path brilliantly displays the retina true to color in its natural surroundings. When permanently integrated into the beam path, the physician safety filter can further streamline the treatment procedure. Space-saving design Office space is tight. As the smallest laser of its kind, the VISULAS Trion is a real space saver. Moreover, the system can be combined with the VISULAS YAG III laser as a single slit lamp laser solution to further optimize office space utilization. Performance to go The VISULAS Trion is also the lightest laser of its kind. As a portable system, it is easily moved from one location to another in virtually no time. 8
Patient Care Individual and controlled photocoagulation Optimizing treatment outcomes while also improving the patient experience are core values of the technology developed by Carl Zeiss Meditec. The VISULAS Trion makes no exception, which combines a variety of technological advancements aimed at increasing treatment safety and the quality of patient care. Optimized treatment selectivity Through the combination of its multiwavelength capabilities and its highly accurate beam path, the VISULAS Trion allows you to conduct highly precise and selective laser applications. Tissue layers near the targeted pathology can thus be coagulated with pinpoint precision. Reliable protection of anterior ocular media Thanks to its patented ParFocus TM zoom, the VISULAS Trion trains a homogeneous, sharply defined and reproducible laser spot on the retina, without the risk of heat-related side effects on the patient s cornea. Individual treatment strategies Whether to target localized pathologies with short laser shots, to homogeneously distribute the laser energy over a large area, for controlled applications in single shot mode, or for quick and efficient applications repetition mode, the VISULAS Trion allows you to develop individual and variable treatment strategies. Always placing the patient at the center of your focus. 9
