Introduction Leaders in industry, government, cities, research and educational organisations have a critical role to play in formulating Industry 4.0 strategies and leading the implementation for the benefit of our societies. Industry 4.0 allows both businesses, institutions and governments to fundamentally rethink how they create, capture and deliver value for their clients, stakeholders and citizens. This rethink is enabled by a set of technologies including autonomous robots, simulation technology, system integration, the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, cloud computing, additive manufacturing, augmented reality and big data. The potential promises are enormous: starting with increased productivity in business and services delivery in government to redefining the selling model away from physical products and onto the functions of those products. Because Industry 4.0 touches all parts of a business and the public sector, system approaches are required and the need for good leadership is more pressing than ever: a clear articulation of strategy and desired business outcomes as well as good change management are essential for taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by Industry 4.0. While traditional leadership approaches remain valid, these need to be augmented with the creation of diversity, ethical responsibility and agility., in collaboration with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong Smart City Consortium, Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), is organizing the 2018 Industry 4.0 Leadership Summit.
