Invitation: IIFL Private Wealth, G.D. Somani High School & the Academy of Chess Training (ACT) an exciting initiative of South Mumbai Chess Academy & Indian Chess School hereby extends warm invitation to all the schools in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar District to participate in IIFL Wealth Mumbai Mumbai Schools Team Chess Championship to be held at G.D. Somani High School. 625, G.D. Somani Marg, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai on 25th -26th August 2018 (both days inclusive). Categories: Categories (Boys & Girls Separate) Up-to Standard II Up-to Standard IV Up-to Standard VI Up-to Standard VIII Up-to Standard X If the total number of teams in a particular category are less than eight (8), it will be merged with a higher category. For example, if there are only 3 teams for Standard II, it will be merged with Standard IV. However, there will be no change in the prize structure to be awarded to the teams. Team Composition: Each team shall consist of four players. The team ranking will be done on the average FIDE rating of the members as per August 2018 FIDE rating list. The nominated school coach/teacher is required to give the board order before the commencement of the event and it cannot be changed thereafter. Dress Code: Each of the school team shall be required to be attired in their School Dress only with Identity Cards prominently displayed. A team will not be allowed to play if they are not attired in their official dress.
Total Rounds & Time-Control: The tournament shall be played as per FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of seven rounds with a time-control of 60 Minutes + 05 Seconds/Player (Fischer). FIDE approved Digital Chess Clocks and Chess Sets will be provided. While the list of participating teams will be uploaded daily from 20th July, 2018, the round 1 pairings shall be uploaded on 24th August 2018 by 18.00 hours. Pairings for subsequent rounds will be uploaded 15 minutes before commencement of the round. The print copy would also be displayed on the notice board. The games on top 3 boards in each of the category will be broadcasted live on various websites and chess applications. The list of such websites & applications will be displayed on the notice board before the start of the event. Prizes & Awards (Team & Individual): School Team Trophies: A total of 3 trophies shall be awarded to the winning schools in each of the category. Thus, a total of 30 Trophies (10 categories x 3 trophies = 30) shall be awarded. Depending on the number of entries in each categories, additional trophies and medals would be awarded as consolation prizes. Medals to the Team Members: Each of the 4-team members of the winning school + the nominated chess coach shall be awarded medals. Thus a total of 30 team x 5 players = 150 medals shall be awarded to the winning team members.the winning team shall also be issued Merit Certificates while Participation Certificates will be issued to all the participating schools. Standings & Tiebreaks: In case of teams finishing on the same points, the tie-breaks shall be resolved in the following order: (a) Match Points (b) Direct Encounter based on Match points (c) Game Points (d) Buchholz Cut 1 (e) Buchholz Instructions for the Accompanying Parents, Coaches & Teachers: Seating arrangements for parents and accompanying persons have been made in the adjoining foyer area/classroom area of the school. They are strictly forbidden from entering the playing arena.
The nominated coaches/teachers (strictly with School ID Card) are allowed to enter the playing arena however, they are required to stand behind their team. The nominated coaches/teachers are required to check the school pairings and guide the team members to their respective playing tables. Both the contesting team coach/teacher will submit the match results to the Chief Arbiter at the end of the round. Appeals Committee: Before the commencement of the Championship a five member committee of Appeal with two reserves shall also be formed from amongst the coaches and officials present at the Technical meeting. All the seven members will be from different schools. No member of the committee shall vote on a dispute in which a player from his/her own unit is involved and in such cases the reserve members(s) shall take his/their places in the committee. Protests: Protests, if any, against the decision of the Chief Arbiter shall be made in writing to the Tournament Director within 30 minutes of the of the incident with a protest fee of Rs.500/- which shall be refunded if the appeal is upheld. The decision of the appeals committee shall be FINAL and BINDING on all the participants. Canteen Arrangements: The school canteen arrangements for provision of snacks, lunch at nominal rates. Entry Fee & Mode of Payment: Rs. 3000/- (inclusive of 18% GST) The entry fee can also be remitted by cheque favouring South Mumbai Chess Academy Pvt.
