Primary Annotated Bibliography Bilstein, Roger. Interviews with Dr. Wernher Von Braun. Washington, D.C.: NASA, 1971. -This source was used as a primary document in order to testify for Wernher s opinion on the space program and its future implications. In this Wernher talked about the experience of his contributions to the early stage of space exploration with the V2 rocket. He also talked about the technicalities of his move from Germany especially because he worked previously with the SS. "Huntsville Alabama Archives." Library of Congress Archives. Accessed November 7, 2014. -This provided a historical photograph of Huntsville Alabama "Interviews with Dr. Wernher Von Braun." Personal interview by NASA. November, 1971. -This was an interview conducted by NASA of Von Braun and his reflections of his work. This gave us first hand accounts of Von Braun s point of views and also the events that took place in his life. This remains one of the more unique documents as it show cases an interview done by the people of NASA and it records the accounts of Von Braun himself. Man in Space. Televised PSA. -This source was used because it had video recordings of Von Braun himself and also gave us a good sense of the era of America being on the edge of the space race. This movie also showed how he was becoming the public face of the American Space Program. This movie was crucial for us because it shows him talking to the American public and proved how talented he was at conveying his ideas but at the same time remaining very entertaining which led to his ultimate legacy of changing the direction of the space program. The papers allowed us to gain an understanding of what he was working on hands on but at the same time was a glimpse at his ethics as a scientist. The papers also offered a more specific outlined of what he was in charge of. Von Braun, Wernher. "The Early Steps in the Realization of the Space Station." NASA, 1952, 1-14. -This document written by Braun himself helped us gain a better understanding of the cold war and its debates on what methods the US were going to use to gain an advantage in the space race. It contrasted the positives and negatives of a space station outside of earth's orbit, and was a good sources of the technology envisioned at the time.

Von Braun, Wernher, and Irene E. Willhite. The Voice of Dr. Wernher Von Braun: An Anthology. Burlington, Ont.: Apogee Books Publication, 2007. -This source was used to obtain some of Wernher Von Braun s speeches as this was a collection of his speeches and statements. This was a great sources for things he said such as the speech he gave in Huntsville Alabama and also some of his arguments he presented in congressional hearings. The book also gave us a reference to what type of an individual he was. Von Braun, Wernher. The Mars Project. Illini Books ed. Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1991. Secondary -This book was written by Von Braun himself and was testament to how talented he was at conveying ideas to the open public and at the same time outlined his main ideas for what can be achieved in the future of space exploration, revealing his ultimate goal of where he wanted future space exploration to end up. In the article, the history of the German scientists were briefly introduce. This gave us a direction of where to look for information and what was important about each one. Crouch, Tom D. Aiming for the Stars: The Dreamers and Doers of the Space Age. Washington: Smithsonian Institution Press, 1999. -This book was essential in our understanding of the space race as it covered the motivations, goals, trials, and triumphs of the people who started space exploration from ancient time to the present day. It was a good source to obtain general information on the history of space exploration as it also talks about the Russian side of the space race. Crowley, Ian, and Joshua Trudeau. "Wernher Von Braun, An Ethical Analysis." Worcester Polytechnic Institute 1, no. 1 (2011): 1-51. - This book gave us specific information regarding project paperclip. It was written specifically to contrast the ethical issues with project paperclip and gave us a much greater sense of what was going on. New York, NY: Feral House, 2009. -This article gave us information on Von Braun s contributions and early collaborations with the Nazis during world war two to develop the V2 rocket, mankind s first vehicle to go to space. The article also gave us information his contribution to the funding of NASA and his work to put a team together. It also elaborated on the brief history to the creation of NASA. Judt, Matthias. Technology Transfer out of Germany after 1945. Amsterdam: Harwood Academic Publishers, 1996. -This book gave us information on the efforts that were made by several countries to extract German technology out of the country after WWII. Von Braun was part of this effort in that he was the holder and creator of most of modern rocket technology. This book gave insight into the process that went into these extractions. Lasby, Clarence G. Project Paperclip: German Scientists and the Cold War. New York: Atheneum, 1975. - This book gave us information on project paperclip which was used to bring hundreds of German scientists over to the United States. Von Braun was one of these scientists and this book gave us background in the experience he would have had in this presses. It also talked about how it was for the German scientists during their first years at being at fort bliss. Missile to Moon. Performed by Mare Carmody. United States: PBS, 2012. DVD. -This documentary gave us a broad overview of Von Braun s life. It also provided us with useful clips for our website. This documentary served as a baseline for our research. It allowed us to understand the basic facts of Von Braun s life so we could explore it deeper. Neufeld, Michael Von Braun Dreamer of Space Engineer of War. New York, NY: Random House, 2007. - This biography is the most comprehensive book available about Von Braun. It includes information about all aspects of his life. Some of the pictures in this book were considered however were excluded due to quality issues. We used the reference pages in this book as a springboard to find other sources, many were primary. It allowed us to see the tone and methods that Von Braun tried to use to gain public support. This was also a huge source of pictures that were scanned from the original Collier s magazine. These public outreaches were a main part his legacy. Race For Rockets (1944 1949). Performed by BBC. 2005. Film. -This documentary gave us a general overview of the race for rockets after the end of WWII. Von Braun was a part of these efforts when he was working for the military in the U.S. This documentary gave us insight into his work in this time period. Along with that, this was a huge source of multi media as it presented the best quality and collection due to the fact that it is one of the more recent documentaries.

This allowed us to see both sides of his story. It gave us a second viewpoint enabling us to create a more full and rounded representation of Von Braun showing both the good and bad.
