SEW! SEW! That's right, we will finally have our sew-a-thon; so bring machines, irons and boards and your determination to get the quilts done. I don't know the final results, but we had a lot of ladies walking out with bags and handfuls of materials from the "yard" sale. So few ladies selling or donating material and SO MUCH material. I thought I had a large stash but I am lagging behind a few ladies. In June we will have the weavers giving our program. The weather has finally turned to summer so we have no excuse to not to make it to our meetings.?jelly rolls, layer cakes, crumb quilts? Somewhere along the way my sewing room and my kitchen seem to have merged. Hope to see you on May 22. Linda K. Kolar President

OFFICER REPORTS Vice Presidents Secretary Joan Williams Minutes from LAP Guild Meeting 4/24/18 at the United Church of Los Alamos: Prior to the Guild meeting there was a garage sale. Members could sell quilting items. There was also lots of fabric to purchase as Louise Taylor, a longtime member of LAP, had donated many boxes of fabric for sale. There was every type of fabric you might be looking for, fabric to finish a project or fabric to create something new. Thanks so much to Louise Taiylor. The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with Linda Kolar calling the meeting to order. Officer Reports: Vice President There still no vice presidents. Secretary Nothing. Treasurer Nothing. Library Nothing. This will be an opportunity to sell donation quilt tickets. The fee is $25. The May 5 th Arts Fair by the Los Alamos Arts Council will cost us $175 application fee to have our quilt there (and we might not even be accepted and would not get the fee back). It was decided not to apply to the May 5 th Arts Fair. Quilt Market The church has approved our reservation of September 28 & 29. They will not charge us if we cancel, but we need to decide within a reasonable time. Shelly shared a thank-you for all of the fat quarters we sent to fire victims. Deb announced Melody Crust will be here on October 23 & 24. Her lecture on Tuesday night in White Rock will be Sew Many Ideas, Sew Little Time. The workshop on Wednesday at U.C.L.A. will be Fast Finishes. There will be a sign up sheet at the next meeting. $40 for members, $50 for non-members. There will be a limit of 20 students in the workshop. Donna talked about Kristi Schroeder as a possible workshop. She is the South Western Modern lady from Austin. It was decided that she should check it out for the future. Trish asked for batting scraps. She is using It in her yo yo s. Door prizes were drawn and won by Ann, Linda and Jackie.

Show & Tell: Mickie showed table cloths she had dyed with extra dye from Nicole. Donna showed a quilt she made from leftover blocks from the donation quilt and a crazy 9 patch community service quilt she made from scraps. Brenda showed the Jemez Springs quilters donation quilt. She will have tickets to purchase at our future meetings. Meeting adjourned. Treasurer Donna Smith Treasurer's Report The LANB Checking account balance as of May 1, 2018 was $14820.29. From the Garage Sale, LAP netted $90 and 157 yards of fabric for Community Service quilts. Publicity Charlene McHale *All current events are listed on the Calendar of Events above. Community Service Flo Carr We now have 4 new full tubs of really nice fabric in our storage shed, thanks to Louise Taylor generosity, the Guild's garage sale and to donations from JoAnn Painter. Many of the pieces of fabric are large enough to be used for backing for one or more quilts. We should have a number of kits ready for the sew-a-thon at the May meeting, but if someone would like to pick out their own fabrics, or have another quilt in mind for a community services project, please check out our expanded Guild Stash! We also have a brand new roll of batting just waiting to be used. Thanks! Library Deb McLin The LAP has invited fiber artist, Melody Crust as our speaker for our October meeting. The title of her lecture is So Many Ideas, So Little Time. She will present a workshop on Wednesday entitled Fast Finishes. Learn to join pre-quilted blocks using innovative techniques.
