TO: All Chess Organizers, Coaches, Parents and Players CHESS CIRCULAR 1 / 2013: SOUTH AFRICA JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS: DECEMBER 2013. 1. The purpose of this letter is to give parents more information regarding the SAJCC 2013.. 2. Northern Cape Chess appreciate the efforts and support of all players and parents during 2013 and congratulate all players for their excellent performance. 3. The format of the SAJCC 2013 is as follows: The annual South Africa Junior Chess Championships 2013 is organized by KZN Chess Union under the auspices of (CHESSA) at The International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban from 14-21 December 2013, refer to attached Proposed Schedule. Venue The Championships will be hosted at The International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban. A Map will be sent out as soon as it is available. 3.1 Team Championships (14-18 December 2013) 3.2 Wild Card Event (19-21 December 2013) The Wild Card Event will be played in one section over a 7-round Swiss. The age groups to be contested will be: U8; u10; u12; u14; u16; u18; u20 There will be separate sections for boys and girls in all age groups. The Chief Arbiter and the LOC reserve the right to combine age groups if the number of players warrants it.
Note: No organized arrangements are made for players who will participate in the Wild Card Event. Players are responsible for own accommodation and travel arrangements. Entries must be done via the Northern Cape Committee. Please indicate as soon as possible but not later than 16 September 2013 if a player wants to participate in the Wild Card Event. 4. Status of the Northern Cape teams are as follow: The following teams were selected: U8 A&B ; U10A; U12A; U14A; U16A; U18A and U20A. There are also selected players per age group on a shortlist to ensure that in case of withdrawal or emergency we already know who the replacements will be. 5. Conditions applicable to team event Selected players must accept the following conditions for participation in the SAJCC 2013. If any condition is not acceptable for a player such player will forfeit Free State colors and will be replaced by a player on the shortlist. The following documents must be completed and submitted to the Secretary before 16 September 2013: a) The agreement of participation b) Code of Conduct c) Indemnity. Players must wear the official Northern Cape clothes during the team event. 50% of cost must be paid by 30 September 2013 and the balance before 31 October 2013. All selected players must take part in the tournament scheduled for 18-19 October 2013 in Kimberley.
6. 8. Program The proposed program is attached for your information. 9. Replies It is important to provide feedback within set timeframes. A decision was taken that the responsibility vest in the player to respond within the set timeframes and if replies are not received, it will be taken as withdrawal and the players on the shortlist will immediately be informed.
