Summer Vacations Assignment for Class Pre School Parental Supervision Dear Parents, Despite the hot Sun, we can still have a lot of fun, so vacations are here for a sweet retreat. Summer holidays are round the corner and some fruitful activities are designed at DIPS to enhance children s creativity and innovation for the progressive learning. Points to ponder: Assign a permanent workplace and work time this brings system and discipline in your child s life. Free play time should alternate structured games to sportsmanship in children. cultivate Reading out colorfully illustrated story books to your ward will develop his/her language skills. Converse with your child in English language. Get colored printouts of the activity sheets from the CD and maintain a folder. Help your child to decorate the holidays homework folder. It should be submitted on July 5, 2012. Your ward may not be able to do the whole work on his/her own. Your guidance and assistance will be required in all areas but it will surely pave the way towards a progressive learning graph of your ward. HOLIDAYS. FUN TIME PARTY TIME!!!!!

So here are a few interesting activities to keep you going through the summer break.
ACTIVITIES to do at home HEALTHY DO S FOR LITTLE ONES The new mantra for peaceful life. Practice yoga for just ten minutes and see the difference. Eat all summer fruits on regular basis :water melon, muskmelon, mangoes etc. Drink plenty of water and relish juices and shakes. Avoid eating junk munchies. FOR MOMS AND DADS DRESSING UP YOUR WARD MATERIAL REQUIRED: Towel, soap,mug,dress,shoes, shocks, under garments comb etc. Method-Encourage the child to take bath independently. Help the child to dry himself/herself with the towel. Instruct the child to dress up in the order in the which clothes are worn. OUTING AND EXCURSIONS Meet your friends and relatives to make the child understand various relationships and social responsibilities. Take the child for a visit to any water park. Take the child for a visit to Bal Bhawan/Doll s Museum.
EXPERIMENTS TO DO AT HOME Here are some simple experiments for you: Take a glass of water, put some ice into it. See what happens? In a tub filled with water, puts some plastic toys (light weight) and heavy things like onion, keys, potato. See what happens? Which item floats? Mini Ocean Fill a clear plastic liter bottle 3/4 full with water. Add blue coloured ink and then add cooking oil. Leave about 1 inch at the top of the bottle. Show your child that how the oil and water do not mix. Tilting the bottle back and forth causes a wave effect.
EXPERIMENTS TO DO AT HOME Invisible Ink Using a cotton swap or paint brush, let children paint designs on white typing paper with lemon juice. Let dry. The adult is to hold the paper close to a light bulb until the writing becomes visible by turning brown. Parents are advised to measure the height and weight of their ward before and after the holidays. See if there is any difference. Discuss it with your ward.
Assignment 1 Make play-dough with parents and make different objects using it. Ingredients for Play Dough: (non toxic and very easy to make) Flour 2 cups Salt 1 cup Oil 2 tablespoon Water Color-preferably food colour or poster colour can also be used. Recipe: Mix floor, salt and oil in a deep bowl. Add colour to your choice. Keep adding little water as per requirement. Knead the dough well to make it fine. Add oil at the end to make it fine. Your dough is ready to play. Roll, press and make different shapes/ objects with it.(store in refrigerator after wrapping in air tight container. Prepare any 2 objects from play-dough and cover it with plastic cover and bring it to the school.

Assignment 3 Colour and decorate the butterfly and do the spray painting outside it using an old tooth brush.

Assignment 5 SEED HUNT Children enjoy eating delicious and juicy summer fruits. During summers, while you enjoy eating the fruits, paste seeds of different fruits in the space provided.
Assignment 6 Draw a line to match different weathers with the given items.
Assignment 7 Come on kids! Colour the big object red and small one green.
Assignment 8 Collage making Collect pictures and images from newspapers and magazines related to IPL and make a collage in the space provided below.
Assignment 9 Shape Recognition Activity Create any object using different shapes such as a caterpillar, tree, jeep etc to reinforce recognition of shapes. You can use buttons, pista shells, colourful bindis, bottle caps etc. Use A-4 size coloured pastel sheet separately as a base.

Project Work Box Guitar. Find an old shoe box, tissue box, or other cardboard box. Have an adult cut an ovalshaped hole on the top. Stretch a few rubber bands around the box and over the hole. Put a pencil under the rubber bands on one side. Optional steps. Tape on a paper-towel tube and decorate the box.
ACTIVITIES CREATIVE. CORNER Prepare a border for your class display board of size 2 meters x 4 inches using paints, mirrors and other decorative material. Make a beautiful photo frame and paste a photograph of your favorite actor/actress. Note: Summer Vacation Assignment to be submitted by July 5, 2012. Grades for the same will be awarded in the Internal Assessment.
