Occupation: Mathias Holdreith January 1848 July 24, 1934 1900 Blacksmith According to the 12th census of the United States, dated January 6, 1900, Mathias was born in Indiana in January 1848 and both of his parents were born in Germany. His wife Mary was born in Indiana in May 1852 and both of her parents were born in Germany. At the time of the census he, Mary and seven of their eleven children reportedly resided in Indiana in the County of Jennings, Center Township. Four children were not mentioned in the census and it is believed that they had apparently moved from the family residence. "Mat" Holdreith listed his occupation at blacksmith and Mary did not indicate an occupation. The census listed dates of birth for several of the children that differed from family records. It would seem that the census records are likely correct. The following information was reported: Mathias Holdreith, age 52, born in Indiana in January 1848. Both parents born in Germany, occupation, blacksmith. Mary Holdreith, age 48, born in Indiana in May 1852. Both parents born in Germany, occupation not indicated. Frank Holdreith, age 24, born in Indiana in February 1876, occupation Salesman - Restaurant. Maggie Holdreith, age 18, born in Indiana in February 1882, occupation dressmaker. Lena Holdreith, age 16, born in Indiana in April 1884, occupation House servant. George Holdreith, age 14, born in Indiana in February 1886. Peter Holdreith, age 12, born in Indiana in December 1887. Joseph Holdreith, age 11, born in Indiana in December 1888. Clarence Holdreith, age 5, born in Indiana in May 1895.
