Greetings! Red Earth is currently accepting applications for new artists for the Red Earth Festival scheduled for June 7-9, 2019 at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City. Red Earth is a juried art show. To be considered please complete the attached artist agreement and mail/email to the Red Earth office. Please include images of your artwork, tribal membership information and booth payment. Detailed information is enclosed. The deadline for the jury is December 7, 2018. Red Earth Festival June 7-9, 2019 Cox Convention Center, Oklahoma City, OK Artist Agreement - Guidelines ELIGIBILTY OF ARTIST - In accordance with Public Law 101-644 (104 Stat. 4662, Act of 11/29/90), participation in the Red Earth Festival is restricted to artists who: (1) Are able to provide documents of proof of membership in a federally or state-recognized tribal entity; or (2) Are able to provide documents of proof of certification as Indian artisan by an Indian tribe. For more information about this law, visit www.iacb.doi.gov. - All artists must be 18 years of age or older. You may purchase a 10 ft. wide or a 15 ft. wide booth. All booths are 10 ft. deep. Each booth is provided (1) draped table, (2) chairs and (3) Weekend passes. Additional equipment is available from Conventions & More (www.conventionsok.com) and must be ordered prior to the event. Telephone, internet and electricity service should be ordered from SMG/Cox Convention Center (www.coxconventioncenter.com) prior to the event. BOOTH DESCRIPTIONS - Individual (1 artist) $350 per 10 x10 booth or $475 per 10 x15 booth - Individual artists may show individually created and signed works. - You may share your booth with an invited artist or artist accepted by the jury at an additional cost of $100 per person. All artists must meet the eligibility requirements. ART EXHIBIT BOOTH GUIDELINES 1. Registered artists must staff their booth during all official Festival hours of operation. Artist aides will be available for 15 minute breaks. 2. At the opening of the Festival, each artist must display at least eight (8) original works of art for sale. 3. No animals are allowed in exhibit booths, except service dogs. 4. Any artist who misrepresents himself/herself or his/her work to Red Earth, Inc. or who does not abide by the terms and conditions as set forth in these Guidelines will be removed from the Festival and will not be eligible for a refund. Cancellation of Booth space will not be refunded, transferrable or credited to the next year. Page 1 of 2

5. All artists must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the dignity of the event, and in a manner that does not embarrass or reflect negatively on the Red Earth Festival and its participants. 6. Red Earth reserves the right to prohibit the sale of any item or items deemed inappropriate without refund of booth payment. 7. Red Earth provides limited security at the facility. It is the responsibility of the registered artist to maintain adequate insurance coverage for the possessions and property in their booth. Red Earth will not be responsible for any loss due to theft, accident or act of nature. 8. Use of alcoholic beverages, drugs, and/or smoking by artists/exhibitors in the Cox Convention Center is prohibited. 9. No Walk-in booths available. 10. No stores or dealers are allowed. 11. If you are a no show or move out early, you jeopardize your standing in the Festival the following year. 12. Red Earth has the right to remove an artist from the Festival who fails to comply with the Festival Guidelines. 13. Red Earth reserves the right to assign artists locations in the best interest of the Festival and reassign booths due to artist cancellations or no-shows. ARTWORK RULES AND STANDARDS 1. Artists must display original works of art for sale, created by the registered artist who occupies the booth. All items displayed for sale in booth must have been handmade by the registered artist. Artists cannot sell work made by someone else. 2. All work must be properly represented to the buyer. All items displayed must be for sale and clearly priced. All artwork must bear the hallmark (signature, mark or stamp) of the artist. 3. To participate in the Art Competition the artist must be present at their booth during the entire Festival. 4. All art is subject to evaluation by Red Earth representatives throughout the Festival. Red Earth representatives may request that any items not meeting established standards be removed from display. If asked to remove an item, please do so immediately. 5. Artists cannot display or sell any items that contain materials derived from animals which are considered endangered or might otherwise be considered in violation of Federal or Oklahoma state laws. Absolutely no sale or display of prehistoric or culturally sensitive artifacts. Display or sale of ceremonial objects is strictly prohibited. 6. Manufactured, imitation or commercial kits and molds are strictly prohibited. No imported, manufactured or mass produced items, such as mouse pads, coasters, magnets, mugs, t-shirts, candles, etc. For clarification please contact the Red Earth office in advance of the show. 7. Pottery: Commercially produced pottery, slip molds, or green ware are strictly prohibited. Hand coiled or wheel thrown are acceptable. Kiln-fired pots and pots made or decorated with commercial materials must be properly identified. No mass produced items. 8. Jewelry: Only handmade jewelry may be sold. Natural turquoise does not need special labeling. Stabilized turquoise and synthetic opal must be properly labeled. No simulated turquoise, imitation stones, or machine made components (except findings) can be used. All jewelry must bear the hallmark (signature, mark or stamp) of the artist. 9. 2-Dimensional Work: Paintings, drawings, graphics and photography must be framed, matted or shrink-wrapped. 10. Paintings: Prints Photo-mechanical or Xerographic-type mechanical reproductions, laser prints and photographs of original artwork are not allowed. Limited edition prints, signed and numbered by the artist, may be sold and displayed in no more than 30% of the booth space. Note cards and calendars that include your artwork are acceptable. For clarification please contact the Red Earth office in advance of the show. 11. Weaving & Textiles: Rugs, blankets, belts and purses must be handmade. All natural yarns and dyes are acceptable. Synthetic or acrylic yarn must be properly labeled. No products commercially produced kits or patterns. Page 2 of 2

Applicant further agrees that Red Earth, Inc. and their respective agents and employees shall not be responsible in any way for (i) damage, loss or destruction of any property of applicant or (ii) injury to applicant or its representative, agency, employees, licensees or invitees. In order to participate at the Red Earth Festival art market, I acknowledge that I am in accordance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990, Public Law 101-644 (104 Stat. 4662, Act of 11/29/90). JURY IMAGES Submit three (3) COLOR images for each category of artwork that will be sold in the booth. Submit a color image showing your booth set-up at a recent art market. We no longer accept slides. Images should be in digital format. Format should be JPEG, TIF or PDF format (no more than 300 dpi). You may email photos to info@redearth.org.
