The Influence of Radio Personalities A study conducted by the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism examined the unique relationship between broadcast radio listeners and on-air personalities. It confirms that listeners feel they have a genuine relationship with their favorite radio personalities. More than 600 participants completed the Katz Group survey, the industry s dominant national rep firm. Findings from the study include: 75% respondents turn on the radio because they know their favorite personality is on air 70% of participants said they follow their favorite radio personalities and/or radio stations via social media 47% of respondents said they considered or purchased products recommended by their favorite radio personalities 51% considered or purchased a product advertised during their favorite personality s show 82% expressed feelings and exhibited behaviors consistent with parasocial identification or an interpersonal relationship in which one party feels as though they know a great deal about the other Our findings underscore the depth of the relationship, loyalty, and trust between listeners and radio personalities, Paula Patnoe Woodley USC-Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism professor Inside Radio 6/29/12

Big Dave The Big Dave Show Monday-Friday 5:30-10 am Big Dave realized that radio was the right career for him in college when, after only one semester of commercial art, he switched to radio. As host of The Big Dave Show, one of the most memorable moments he s had took place after the 2016 Country Music Awards when he met Garth Brooks at a party celebrating Garth s Entertainer of the Year Award. When Big Dave isn t behind the microphone, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Carrie, and kids, Darah and Darren. 9 W U B E B - 105

Chelsie The Big Dave Show Monday Friday 5:30 10 am Chelsie first started working for B-105 in 1994, doing everything from promotions to traffic. Chelsie and her husband, Brad, have two children, Reese and Rory, and a small petting zoo! No, really they have a dog, two cats, a slew of fish and a bird. Chelsie says the song, Dirty Laundry by Carrie Underwood best describes her life. Because, well, she feels like it s never ending at her house! 10 W U B E B - 105

Stattman The Big Dave Show Monday Friday 5:30 10 am Stattman is as kindhearted as he is fun-loving. In fact, fun is what first drew him to pursuing a career in radio as a senior in high school. A part of the B-105 family for 17 years, Statt has had a number of unique experiences, including taking a bath with the elephants at the Cincinnati Zoo. Statt enjoys hunting and fishing and spending time with his wife and two daughters, Jane and Stacey. W U B E 11 B - 105

Duke Monday Friday 10 am 3 pm Duke and his wife, Barbara, share their 150-acres of land in Pendleton County, KY, with their beloved Doberman, Blue, a number of barn cats and a herd of miniature horses and pygmy goats. Duke s 39-year career with B-105 has been filled with a number of memorable moments, including being inducted into the Country Music Radio DJ Hall of Fame. Duke enjoys riding his UTV on the farm, going out to eat and visiting his six grandchildren. W U B E 12 B - 105

Amanda Monday Friday 3 7 pm A self-proclaimed radio nerd, Amanda always knew radio was the career for her. In fact, she used to record her favorite DJs on cassette tapes when she left for school, then listen to them when she got home. As a Millstadt, IL, native, Amanda returned to her Midwest roots in January of 2015 as the other half of B-105 s Afternoon Show with Jesse. Amanda loves to hike, travel, camp, work out, cook and try new things. W U B E 13 B - 105

Jesse Monday Friday 3 7 pm Jesse has been with B-105 since 2008. As a DeWitt, IA, native, Jesse has embraced the sights and sounds of Cincinnati. He loves the twists, turns, thrills and fun found at Kings Island, working out, seeing new movies, watching documentaries on Netflix, traveling, exploring with his Beagle mix, Jackson, and working on projects around his house. Matt Monday Friday 7 pm midnight Matt, a Windy City native, knew he wanted to become a DJ as a kid. However, the education major didn t pursue a career in radio until after college. His radio career has taken him across the Midwest, from Illinois to Milwaukee, Chicago and eventually Cincinnati, where he has hosted nights on B-105 for two years. Matt loves going to the gym and exploring the area s craft brewery scene. He also enjoys giving back to the community by reading to children at area schools. W U B E 15 B - 105

Toria Traffic Director Toria discovered her love for being on air through her high school broadcasting class. After having an opportunity to shadow Fritsch on the Jeff & Jenn Morning Show, Toria realized radio was perfect for her! The Lawrenceburg, IN, native has been on-air handling traffic reports full-time for over three years now. When Toria isn t on air or spending time with her husband, Jon, she s spending time with her friends and cats. 16 W U B E B - 105

Ernie (Fatman) Monday Friday 6-10 am From a young age, Ernie knew he wanted to pursue a career in radio. My two brothers and I shared one bedroom. There was a small transistor radio, and I experienced the world with news, music and entertainment from places far, far away, says Ernie. I was hooked. I loved music, but never learned to play an instrument. Ernie enjoys riding a 1992 Electra Glide Classic. She has carried me away; the destination isn t important, he says. 17 9 7. 3 T h e W o l f

Jimmy Monday Friday 10 am 2 pm Born and raised in Cincinnati, Jimmy started in radio at age 19 working at WVXU at Xavier University. Since then, he s made his way through town working at other stations, and eventually settling in at The Wolf in 2009. When it comes to his favorite moment on The Wolf, Jimmy had this to say, There are lots of them, but the day I was hired here has to be the best. I have worked at other radio stations, but the people I work with now are the best! When he isn t on air, Jimmy enjoys playing the guitar and cooking. In fact, given the opportunity to visit any musician s home, he would choose go to Keith Richards for a private guitar lesson. 18 9 7. 3 T h e W o l f

Pistol Pete Monday Friday 2 7 pm If you listen to 97.3 The Wolf between 2 and 7 pm through the week, you ll hear Pistol Pete. The North Dakota native realized he wanted to pursue a career in radio while attending North Dakota State University. In fact, he celebrated his 19 th birthday and first night on the radio on the same day he s worked in radio ever since. Pistol Pete loves firing up the grill, cracking open a few cold ones and spending time with good friends. 19 97. 3 T h e W o l f

Bud Monday Friday 7 pm midnight You could say Bud Stross was destined to work in radio. As a child, he would create his own radio shows using a karaoke cassette recorder and listen to his mix tapes while out. Bud started his career with Hubbard Radio in 2008 as a promotions intern with Q102. Bud also coowns The Dent Schoolhouse, a nationally ranked haunted attraction.
